Michael Parmigiani is a legendary watchmaker and helped many of today's best get their start (Kari Voutilainen being one). His movement brand Vaucher has made movements for AP Royal Oaks and many more- he certainly doesn't get the credit he deserves.
An absolutely beautiful watch no one seems to be discussing (except Teddy) is the Cartier Santos MEDIUM with a blue dial. Previously the blue Santos came in large size only. This thing looks as good as the blue Nautilus, is water resistant to 100 meters, and comes with one of the best bracelets in the business that can be both removed and adjusted without a tool. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Very conflicted with this blue dial release vs the OG white dial.. I see myself potentially changing straps due to the quick switch function and a white dial just seems more versatile in that regard. Really like the applied numerals and lumed hands on the blue dial though and was wanting Cartier to release the Medium blue for a long time. Then again knowing my wardrobe's colour palette, I'll probably end up with navy, black, brown, grey, at most green on straps, which other than green, matches with the blue dial too. Really, Cartier did exceptional this W&W.
Weird, I was way more intrigued and satisfied with Rolex's new releases this year. Way more than Tudor, who kinda just ...whelmed me. I didn't expect to have that take either.
That Parmigiani Fleurier watch is spectacular! The photographs don’t do it justice, you need to see it in action to fully understand it! I don’t dive, but use a rotating bezel to time most things. This handles that duty with more refinement and can be hidden when not needed. Yep, I have a crush on PF too! Also, not liking something, but understanding why it exists and respecting it for that, is a thoughtful stance as opposed to just being ruled by emotional/knee jerk outbursts. “I don’t like it so it shouldn’t exist and you’re stupid for liking it!” always makes me laugh. Great reporting, Teddy.
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess it is honestly. At the end of the day, they are worth that because people pay for it all day. They can charge so much on history and prestige alone. Teddy is that a Zenith El Primero 38mm on your wrist? I recently acquired a 42mm El Primero and adore it. Incredible movement finishing, very beautiful to observe and phenomenal pusher feel (there's a reset click when the pusher is released!). Dial finishing is georgous as well, mine is a silver panda (true panda LE).
13:22 Probably for those looking to get a more desired Rolex model. At 22k there are clearly much better options for those seeking a dress watch (Like you suggested, I'd get a Lange Saxonia), and I'm a little confused why they have a Syloxi instead of Parachrom hairspring. The dial also looks quite dull and flat to me from the photos and videos.
You absolutely nailed your Tag observations. I have to admit however, I wasn’t overly enthused about any brands’ releases and thought this was a wasted year. Just my opinion
I really enjoyed seeing most en the brands offer smaller case. Tudor was the brand that stole my heart during W&W. I can imagine wearing all of the new models. Really enjoy the BB54. A watch create by enthusiasts for enthusiasts 😊 Grand Seiko Lake Suwa was impressive too.
Love that rolex 1908! Not a rolex fan particularly but I admit all their watches are basically perfect in terms of design and most often set the standard in their respective categories. Nice to see them take that eye for design to a dressier piece.
Great video, Teddy. Wow, that would have to be the nicest TAG I've seen in a long time and the first that has got me interested in the brand for equally as long. 😎
I'd rock the Rolex 1909 over the oyster perpetual. Has that vintage with almost pilot watch look. I think that'll be a good fit for somebody who doesn't want something so loud for what Rolex normally is.
I too love the new blue on the black bay 36! However I just bought the black smile dial version because I feel like it has that extra touch of character….and I got it from a great panic sell deal right before W&W. The new 5-link bracelet however is quite comfy well built as I tried it on yesterday. I would consider picking it up if it suited more daily wear, but as a casual dresser it lack the versatility I want from it
I do miss the slightly more sporty nature of the older model. The lacquered dial and Oyster style bracelet were so great. I just wanted to see T-fit added, the in-house movement, and the other case/crown refinements. It seems to have gone in a more Oyster Perpetual/Datejust (without the date) direction. That is fine, but seems like a wholly different watch line now.
My top 3 from W&W would be the Tentagraph, the slimmed down Black Bay, and the full gold GMT. I love seeing what GS can do with movements and of course it will be amazingly finished. That said, I don't thing the blue dial in this instance is for me, but once they come out with some other options or I see one in the metal and perhaps change my mind, I'm sure it will have a spot in my collection. The changes to the Black Bay, upgraded movement, slimmer case, less slab sided case with the bubble back, the tweaks to the hands and dial, they all work for me. And then the full gold GMT is the type of blingy rolex that just needs to exist. This will likely never be in my price range, but I am really glad that it's out there.
