    Well done for successfully repairing this fabulous cassette deck from 1982.

    most of the decks require new belts, good you have the nerves to replace them 😁, thumbs up as always 👍🏻

    Those plastic washers on the capstan are more to keep dust away from the bearings. Also I watched the mode switch repair on the 611s. The switch is supposed to be lubricated. Otherwise the skates will grind away the tracks in no time. Most high quality contact cleaners contain lubricants or they come as 2 parts where the first is for removing soothe and second is to lube and keep the tracks from contact with the air which will corrode them. The green stuff is called conformal coating... When I service that Sony mech I first remove the door. Then I remove the pinch roller which keeps the head slider in place. There are a couple of tracks which have to be greased there... It's a lot easier to do it this way as you have access to all moving parts. We may have been bidding on the same auctions on eBay. Keep up the good work

    I had one of these. The knobs under the facia flap were buggers to use. In the 80s JVC were better at amplifiers than tape decks.

    ive got a denon drs610 cd draw style deck, its well made and sounds good, only 2 head though, dead easy to do the belts on one of those, only 2, one for capstan and 1 for eject, function is by solenoid, worth a sniff after one of those, can go quite cheap on fleabay spares or repair, only real catch is you have to take main cover off to clean the heads thats all really.

    I'm pretty sure ANRS stands for Automatic Noise Reduction System.

    Very nice repair! It did help me to tear down the one I got.
    But where did you buy the replacement belts? I can't find them anywhere online?

    • @pwrestoration
      @pwrestoration  ปีที่แล้ว

      For this one I think the counter belt was from a generic bag of belts off eBay. The drive belt I measured and just bought a generic flat belt. Good luck!

    What a beauty!!, great repair /mantenance, i am trying to calibrate my decks, they are two heads.. and i dont have the test tapes.. at the moment can compare a original cassette on the computer or using my ears.. but i try to improve! greeting from Argentina! i suscribe to your channel to help and see new videos like this.

      You can play a 3k test tone into the deck and record it, and then use Spectroid to analyse the playback. From there you can see if it needs speeding up or slowing down. Once you've got one calibrated, make your test tones tape on that deck and you've got a good tape forever! It won't be absolutely perfect but for the sake of a little testing, your ears won't notice.

    Great job on the repair. Would be nice to find the matching components for this. Heres a tip, I made a mix tape full of TH-cam library music I use to test decks on TH-cam to avoid copyright strikes.

      I keep meaning to do this and then never get round to it!

      The matching components to this JVC D-E3 CASSETTE DECK are:
      - JVC A-E3 STEREO INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER
      - JVC L-E3 FULLY AUTOMATIC DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLE
      - JVC T-E3 FM/AM QUARTZ SYNTHESIZER STEREO TUNER
      There is also a JVC COMPONENT RACK MODEL LK-E7 II
      I have all the components inc. the rack, with all the instruction booklets for each component.
      I have three of the turntables and two of the cassette decks.
      I believe the whole set-up is from 1982 and was not a cheap system.
      The components were of reasonable quality and still are.
      Check out the wow and flutter for instance:
      - cassette deck 0.05% (WRMS) / 0.17% (DIN 45-500)
      - direct drive turntable 0.03% (WRMS) / 0.015% (by K & K measuring method)

    Nice repair there mate! BTW where did you get the belts from, and can you remember the sizes? I've got one of those, and the FF/Rewind is getting a bit temperamental. Looks like I'm going in myself!

      Hi sorry I don't, I think I had to hit and miss the smaller ones from my stock. But the larger flat belt I measured and bought a decktech one that matched the dimensions 😄

    Quite a cool design and jvc decks often sound great .Denon have made some draw type decks and they look a lot like cd players .I have a yamaha micro system with surround sound speakers and that has a tape draw .Try downloading and copying some music from the youtube audio library.

    I'm fairly new to your channel. Of all the decks you've dealt with, can you recommend any decent 3 head direct drive decks? I'd like closed loop dual capstan, though I do place a greater emphasis on direct drive.

    • @pwrestoration
      @pwrestoration  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely a technics DD / Quartz three head. Minimal wow and flutter, bullet proof, quite cheap. I think the product code is a RS B965 or similar

    Hi Where did you get the replacement belts from please.
    Regards Andy

    • @pwrestoration

      Hi Andy the counter belt was out of a generic set and the drive belt was measured, and I bought the same size. Have a Google you can get the flat drive belts in any size really for suprisingly cheap

      @@pwrestoration That’s great Thankyou. Watched the video through twice before attempting the belt replacement. It was really good and found I could skip a couple of the sections of strip down. Once I had disconnected the wires and removed the screw that stopped the cassette draw from coming out completely I was able to remove the the two inspection panels and hay presto. Could not have done it with out your video. Thanks once again
