Hi Beck, that's a cool valve spring tester.
You need ID locators for for the springs.
Be careful as they can effect your installed height.
This will stop your spring walking problem.
    This can cause guide wear.
Does your heads have Chevy valves?
Your machine shop said they look like Z28 springs.
When I machine the spring seat for that combo, I machine it to the proper spring ID, that way you do not need anything but a Chevy shim.
It looked like your shim was a standard valve shim.
You really need hardend shims so the springs do not wear the the shims.
    Thanks for sharing. 👍

Thank you for the information, yes they’re 11/32 stem, the guides seem to have an abundance of clearance but I bought these just to get out on the track. I bought them off of someone who had them machined, but I was also wondering why they weren’t machined to the I’d of the spring if they knew that’s the spring they were going to use. When you go from 3/8 to 11/32 do you use a k liner or a new guide all together?

@@beckbuilt3209 I usually change the guides.
They use to make a .060 wall liner for reducing the size 3/8 to 11/32.
      I use a .500 solid guide by .343.
      Have a great day Beck.
