I Finally Beat Luigi's Mansion on the Gamecube in 2024

- Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is right around the corner. While that game is considered the worst in the series, I wanted to go back to the original Luigi's Mansion to finally play in on Gamecube and remind myself just how good the game is

On a Sunday, my dad took me to the zoo. We saw monkeys. Then later on, we were out on a field and we were kicking a ball around. And then we went to Gamestop and bought Luigi's Mansion!
i have a similar story i thought id share, my parents were diovocring around the time Dark Moon came out and me and my dad played the crap out of that game, only way we bonded really, planning on playing the HD remake with him in a few days
I will die on that hill but I'm pretty sure only smash players like the gamecube controller lol I fully agree with you on that. enjoying the story time vibes this channel is bringing, keep it on!

Glad you enjoyed it! Luigi’s Mansion is genuinely of the most nostalgic games for me. It felt so expansive and mysterious, which is funny when you consider how short it is.
I remember certain rooms that we could never find, and used to tell each other stories about what was locked away or secret hidden ghosts, until years later I accidentally found the way in, and it turns out the rumours were true lol, there WAS a ghost girl who walked in the ceiling 😅
The thing above all else it has in spades is atmosphere, especially in the more cosmic rooms on the upper floors, the gentle music has a very strange vibe that I haven’t ever really experienced in Nintendo games before or since, not even in the sequels. I’d recommend it to anyone.
On the GameCube controller, have to disagree - especially for Luigi’s Mansion, the stick is perfect for the tug of war battle with ghosts, and the analogue triggers feel amazing for elemental attacks and hoovering. The c stick is a bit of a dud tbf, but I don’t think Nintendo were fully sold on twin stick movement yet, ironic since they pioneered sticks in the first place….
The D Pad does suck tho, I think it’s a similar one to the GBA, but it worked so much better there, thankfully not much use needed for it on the GameCube!

Really enjoyed this video! I never had a gamecube growing up as well. I had a few gc games here and there that I played on the Wii, but more and more I yearn for an authentic experience. I think a gamecube will be my next retro pickup.

babies first resident evil is such a good analogy! lol looking back, the first room looks a lot like the spencer mansion hall, the eerie atmosphere, its definitley there, i wonder if they was inspired, i have a lot of nostalgia for this game as well, being the little brother, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart, i love the story time on this channel, and i agree with the gamecube controller, i like the controller sure, but for me im very biased towards the original dual shock for the ps1 so the gamecube was always quite a wacky one to get used to, i feel like a lot of peoples favourite controllers are based on the ones they grew up most with.

I like the gamecube controller, but I agree that the D pad on it SUCKS. It's a really good controller if the game you're playing doesn't use the D pad AT ALL lol
It's impossible to press a single button with the DPAD. Third party controllers have better DPADs lol
