I live in Japan and we’re crazy about mechanical pencils for some reason. I personally don’t like the Kuru Toga series since I actually like dull edges because it feels much smoother and can give you writing more style and flavor. My personal preference are pencils from Pilot. Especially the ones with the soft rubber grips. They also have a mechanism where you can shake the pencil to make the led come out so you don’t have to press on it. It’s also not as expensive as the Kuru Toga.
I've owned the Pilot Shaker, Pilot Super Grip, and Pilot Super Grip 2020 (it's a Super Grip but with a Shaker spring). They were considered 'high-end' mechanical pencils back then in my school 🤣, well, those who have the rotring ones were out of the league...a mechanical pencil craze back then, it's sort of a status symbol 🤣 had to save a week worth of pocket money to buy one
Used the exact model shown in the video for the last 3 year of college. It was an awesome pencil and still functions perfectly. Will continue to use it for a long time.
People call it the "C-curve" but it depends on which angel you look at the nail, don't worry if your nails are flat but if it's really curved and is growing into your finger tips, you may want to either cut your nail or use nail oils to soften the nail beds and loosening the curve.
MizuWing ugh i hate people that do this. i just lost my favorite pencil that had my name labeled on it. someone probably ripped off the label and is having fun scratching it and acting like it’s 50 cents
Just ordered this now. It's the 5th pencil I've purchased this year, xd. Already bought a Rotring 600, UniBall Kuru Toga, Pentel Sharp Kerry, Pentel Graphgear 1000, and this is the 5th. So much variety :D
I ordered a pencil on amazon waited for 8 days ... and was so excited I showed everyone my shiny beautiful pencil .. and they're like "it's just a pencil" .... that hurt my feeling so bad >.
Haha, I get that a lot so I just ignore them. "They're just pencils" yet they use a bic sparkle or papermate clearpoint, xd. I simply enjoy collecting them.
The PaperMate Clearpoint is an amazing pencil though! I have a black one and a red one, and they both got me through freshmen year of college. I now use a black 0.5 Pentel Sharp Kerry because of its elegance, pocket safe design, and smoothness of writing.
I like the BIC mechanical pencils because they're the only ones I have found that can take a pencil top eraser. This one and the Rotring you mentioned also look like they can though so I may buy both!
Studying Japanese and wanted to be fancy this semester so I just ordered this pencil. It really is crazy though how different pencils like this are especially when writing stuff like kanji.
Bought one of these a few months ago. Definitely for more heavy handed people. Took me a little but to get used to using it but this pencil changed how I write for sure.
I purchased this pencil for CAD$12. It works really well and keeps the tip nice and sharp. I even showed it to one of my friends and he thought it looked really premium (upwards of 100 dollars premium). However, I don't recommend the one shown in the video (Roulette model). It is a much better value to get the starter pack (which includes extra lead and erasers) for slightly over CAN$7. And you'll have just as good of an experience using it.
I used to have a cheaper version of this pencil. Same company, same mechanism but it was made of cheaper plastic. All I can really say is that I agree, the writing experience is great. It's almost like writing with a pen if you use certain types of lead.
I'm using this pencil for work/school for about 7 months now. I've used it so much, that the metal grip is almost gone. It's the best pencil I've ever owned. I'm using it almost every day for hours!
I’ve had a similar pencil for around six years already. I got mine at the beginning of middle school, and now I am out to graduate high school. These things last. Although, the paint does fade after quite some time, mine is blue and you can start seeing the white plastic under layer.
I use mechanical pencils most of the day and the Uni Kuru Toga is my favorite. I have quite a few in different colors for whatever mood I happen to be in.
So cool this showed up in my suggested and it turns out that I already have this pencil as a free gift from someone. never knew it had this special feature very cool I like it
I ordered this pencil and so far, I love it. I write cursive but it still helps out a lot and my writing is crisp. The rotating mechanism was mainly meant for Japanese; which is its origin, since writing japanese involves lifting your pencil a lot for different strokes. Still, it works very good for any kind of writing. It can even come more useful for me since I'm taking a chinese class and my pencils get super dull from all the strokes.
@@Felix-ot2sb crazy enough I still am using the exact same pencil I was talking about. I bought the alpha gel kuru toga and it’s the most comfortable pencil I’ve had so yeah it has lasted me around 6 years and still works great
I bought one of these pencils recently to be my new sketching pencil and my god, I have never loved a pencil more in my life. Ive used it exclusively since, the rest of my pencils are retired.
FranchescaShorts • i read some reviews on amazon people said it was good for drawing. and beside i used another pencil in the kuru togan family and it was decent for drawing.
The uni kuru toga is amazing for drawing. Actual drawing pencils aren't needed for "proper" drawing. If you want to shade with one just press down once and move the pencil without lifting up unless you need to. Since it rotates it helps keep the shading on a drawing look even and smooth.
Me too....my handwriting is garbage. All my friends write slow but have beautiful handwriting. I guess when you just like to get things done, you can't worry about handwriting. (I.E. they write slow and get good handwriting but it takes them forever to write stuff. I write fast and keep up with the teacher but my handwriting is terrible.)
This will defiantly help me with my art ! I've been searching for a good mechanical pencil company and one with many to choose from ! Thank you so much for showing me this :)
After using it for about a year and missing it for another year, I can comfortably say it's the best thing ever. To my pencil: I miss you, I hope we meet again
I've one of these pencils for several years now, and I don't think it's a gimmick. I have found it works perfectly as advertised, if you want a uniform line width, and you're not writing in cursive. If you don't care about you line width, and many people probably don't, then this pencil probably isn't for you. I find the eraser to be fairly worthless, as it is too small, but I have other erasers that fulfill that function.
Hello, Good review; Please turn down the background music a little bit next time; I just don't see how this is $10; Pentel pencil at $7 seem better--specifically the grip and eraser.

I just got mine in today all the way from Japan, took me 4 weeks to get it. It feels so good in the hand with some nice weight to it. It’s an awesome pencil for writing and doodling. I also didn’t know this pencil is made by Mitsubishi, so I’m basically I’m using a pencil made by the same company that manufactured the Evo!!!

I hate how small the eraser is
Edit: I now realize drafting pencils are usually like that, since they are usually a bit more precise for small lines.
confuses me since this is not exactly a drafting pencil, so a larger eraser would have been better.
Yeah I hate it too. But I use a separate eraser anyways c:
