    Here in the states there is a magazine devoted entirely to fly tying. They ran a contest for people to vote for the fly tyer of the year. I didn't participate, but next year I will and you will have my vote Mr. McPhail.

      Max there are a couple of good magazines out of the US. There is a really good one, the name escapes me, but it is a very good magazine out of the UK, only found in big box book stores!

    I love this fly! It looks fishy and fun to tie. You make positioning the legs look easier than it is. Great construction and instruction as usual, thanks Davie

    Another lovely wee hedgehog I was tying a few of the ones you done yesterday, a came across a small patch of orange deer hair that's been there for long enough so I decided to tie an orange one before I seen yours only mine has a yellowish orange CDC. Though after seeing yours I like the look of the black deer hair.👍
    Keep up the good work Davie

    Hello Davie, This is a great patern for my home water as the June Beetles as we call it in Flemisch (Amphimallon solstitiale ) are coming on the water. A bit les orange anda bit more Pecock dubbing. Thanks for the pattern. I am a big fan. And if you come to Belgium let me know? I would love to take you on the reservoir.

    Hi Davie - many thanks for sharing the video. You've probably been asked this a million times so apologies but I remember you used to stack the body deer hair on your hogs. What's the reason for not stacking the body hair anymore? Just looks more natural....?

    I picked up some flashy burnt orange dub and some orange nanosilk yesterday to tie up something similar to that half hedge you did the other day . What do I see today ? Its like Davie read my mind .

    Do you tie a butcher variant ? I tie it with peacock blues for the wing because I honestly just cant stand using mallard though I've tried.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Keith,
      I have to be honest the mallard blues are one of the worst feathers to get to sit nice as it does easily separate though in the water it's a great feather because of this..I love using the peacock blue neck feather for butchers which if you look closely in one of the boxes I put on my community page through the week...I meant to film one but I forgot so I'll hopefully get a chance later on..
      All the very best Davie

    Why does everyone call the hot orange body, the Mother's Day Caddis? I have never seen an orange one no matter the time of year. I have seen large ones. And short ones but never long orange bodies. I've seen large Travelling Sedges but that is it! Have you seen others? Orang sometimes works very well, but not as anything in particular. Maybe one day it will work and I won't know why!!
