Lathrix! I do the exact same strat, except I just build a ship to push the friendly space stations into the sun after I have done all of the missions for them, it also makes it so that any ship trying to dock with the space station gets vaporized too, and then to get the resources I just build with them in range.
Also flak is absolutely terrifying bcs it has 7000 DPS and can't miss if you are in range bcs it's projectile speed is infinite if you look at the stats.
If you do decide to use ion beams I think it will look really cool of you put the emitters at the very back of the ship, and then have prisms dotted along the right side - so you have a laser that wraps across the right side of the ship.
Praise the algorithm! For a ship suggestion, how's that: Eye of Terror, a fat ship with an idea of a Death Star - a bunch of ion lasers conjoined into one beam of destruction via prisms?? basic - yes. Extremely fun - yes. also, for extra fruity flavour, you can add railguns behind the laser system, so that you can shoot them through the same hole as the lasers
Hey Lath! Quick tip on getting (almost) ALL ressources from sun-destroyied ships; Build a new ship next to the scap outside the danger zone of the sun, the ship will FIRST take ressources that lie around before taking any in your inventory (so basically they teleport). Then abandon/destroy your ship. Congrats, you salvaged like 99% of the scrap. Bonus tip: Sell all your ressources to a station before pushing it into the dangerzone. This way you get the money AND can then keep the ressources. lol
OK, for your next ship, try this: If you have two of the focussing crystals pointing into each other (for the ion beams), they produce a feedback loop, resulting in a maximum of 4x the input power, also ion beams do more damage at closer range. So build a ship with a giant maw, with an ion beam (or several) cutting across it. Use a tractor beam, and drag the enemy into it for massive damage. I know this is kinda the same role as the Wrath, but it would be so cool, and if it was really manoeuvrable, it could hit the enemy from the other side, then you could trap them between two brawlers. Alternatively you could set it up to be relatively unmaveoverable but have a ton of shields, and loads of armour, then just have it engage first and be a massive indestructible block, covered in lasers. With some care the ion crystals could direct the ion beam in a ring around the whole ship, so you don't have to care which side is pointing at the enemy, as long as you crash into them. Then use tractor beams (like 3 of them) to be able to latch onto the enemy and laser them to death. Besides this, you could set the ions up so you can switch them between long range and brawl mode, then you could have a ship engage with big lasers from afar, then as the enemy gets close it turns into a giant bitey mouth of doom. This game isn't really meant to have melee, but this would provide it. Other than that, I'd kinda like to see a ship focussed on the basic (or heavy) lasers, or maybe a mix of energy weapons (and maybe railguns) - something which can manoeuvre around the enemy to hit weak spots with accuracy, while the Wrath engages in brawling.
There isn't much of a limit. 2 input to 1 output simply have 2 beams to 1 crystal then 2 of those crystals to 1 crystal and so on. As long as it's only 2 inputs it adds them to the output.
@@unknownexponential I know that the optimal is to pass 2 beams into every crystal, but as far as I know, the highest power beam only transmits 75% of the power. The reason its more efficient to use 2 beams per crystal is that the third beam goes in at ~56% (0.75*75%) power. This means that using 3 crystals to combine 3 beams is actually the same as using 1, but using 3 crystals to combine 4 beams is better than using less crystals. The best beam setups always have k*2^n beams condensed into k outputs, and at least k*(2^n-1) crystals focussing them. You can build an arbitrarily large ion beam this way, as doubling the emitter count gives you 1.75x the power, it doesn't scale all that well. Notably, if 2 beams gave you 100% on both then a ring with an input would reach unbounded power, which as far as I know, it does not.
A guy on twitch named "CohhCarnage" built a huge 1 in one of his last cosmotier streams. If you want a nice visual example, go look at that. It was pretty effective and cool to watch. Also... Reading that overly complicated answer you gave was/is a waste of time. There's simpler ways to explain it, idk why you'd make it more complicated other than to appear smarter.
@@unknownexponential I mean yeah, I wasn't just trying to explain it, I was also highlighting some of the quirks of the system, as the properties I mentioned aren't immediately obvious. For example if we only use 1 ion crystal and magically put an arbitrary number of beams into it, the total power output is bounded. The fact that the system always takes the 75% on the larger beam means that if you have 1 beam less than a power of two, adding the extra beam adds exactly one beam's worth of output power, so a power of two is a lot better, etc. I just thought it was a neat system, and wanted to show the outcomes. I was also tired, and I'm not very good at explaining stuff, so yeah.
Grabbing all the missions will populate them on your galaxy so you know where they all are. Easier to grab what you want, and avoid if necessary. You can have any number of missions, and they only show up if your in the system, and the ones shown on the UI are always the closest 3.
You could just build a big ball of layered armor, shields and point defense. It doesn't even need engines. Then push it around with the tractor beam holding it in front of you as a shield to soak up the damage.
Taking a tractor beam and pushing allies into the sun to collect their gizzards, why didn't I think of that? Because I'm not a PSYCHOPATH!! lol Holy heck that was some funny stuff. =]
Larhland superiority on display as always. Thank you for always playing the best games. Bought this one after your first video and have dumped a depressing amount of hours into it
Definitely want to see maybe a rocket launcher with emp blasts mixed with a rail gun, so you won't have to worry about shields while doing massive damage from afar
I'd love to see a railgun artillery ship with missile support and high amounts of point defense oh and you could use the tractor beam in case something gets to far or close and instead of a armor heavy ship a thruster heavy ship to accommodate the long range aspects of the ship so you can get to the side of a ship and decimate them like the bugs they and then harvest the corpse of them to use them to add to the Scorn's power idk if I'm good at naming but I think scorn fits the theme of the other ships
In case your wondering about naming schemes: lathrix likes to name/design his stuff along the lines of the warhammer 40K gods of chaos, who are Khorne, Slannesh, Tzinch, and Nurgle. Malal is also technically a chaos god but he got retconned a while ago so it's a little weird. I'd recommend Slannesh for the railgun missile frigate. They are the price of pleasure, and missiles are pleasurable indeed.
Here's an idea for you- A central facility? One big well defended MEGAFACTORY that just stays in one place- And you have a ship with tractor beams to bring corpses to it.
Put some engines and a hyperdrive on that bad boy, and he could have it slowly drift into places to do big mining/salvage jobs that Khorne's scourge can't do easily, and have the scourge be the advance party.
A lot of people are using the ion beam and it requires so much power I personally don't think it is worth it. The railgun is really good but incredibly vulnerable. Missiles seem underpowered for the cost even the nukes don't seem very good from when I tried them out. Honestly, the cannon spam with mixed-in small beams seems to be working really well but your ship is just a bit too slow. It almost seems like you want to have a heavy bomber or torpedo craft instead of your current heavy destroyer. If that is the case I recommend using a railgun even if it is vulnerable stacking two or three right next to each other on stagger fire and making your ship long, lightly armored, but heavily shielded from the front with all the turning seems to be what you want for punching through some of the more heavily armored ships. If you want to make everyone nearby panic at the disco you can make use of a mixture of both ion beams and emp turrets. that's what I use on my current heavy fighter when dealing with ships that have obvious weak points but it requires a lot of power and my fighter has 2 medium reactors just to keep everything running smoothly. If you really REALLY want to spam missiles be prepared for your wallet to hemorage money or your factory to be working overtime trying to reload. I have tried a few nuclear missile boats in the past and wasn't very impressed but apparently they've gotten better sense then. The one good thing about missiles is that you can blot out the sun with them. Honestly missiles while they do in fact have their uses are less useful overall than cannons.
This was a fun episode. What was happening with the Railgun is that you were turning it off with your Disruptors. Sapping the energy from the launcher. I'd say a long range support ship with Missiles and a Doom Rail. If FTD taught me anything it's that you love Doom Crams and Missiles ;)
i think the ship stuck on the station was pushing it into the sun at 6:20 "if i cant get anything from this no one will" also a ship that takes multiple lasers and focuses them into one death laser would be pretty interesting, not sure how the damage is calculated tho or how easy it would be to build without being massive LOVING this series
single death laser would lose too much power from all the beam combinations. best would be to build maybe a 4-wide beam, then you can focus ~16 beams into those 4. It would be inefficient to have them aim forwards only, but super cool to see 4 huge beams of red death just slicing through enemy ships :) Efficient way would be to just fire at target though, so it'll focus all 4 beams at the same space.
Iirc, the ideal beam combine ratio is 2, and you lose 25% of one beam's power. So it would be: 1+1 = 1.75 1.75+1.75 = 3.06 for every 4 beam combination. The quick maths would be you lose 1 beam for every 4 you combine.
EMP missiles have the longest range in the game, HE missiles are cheap and can fire decently fast and overwhelm an enemy, Railguns can pierce through unshielded sections (sometimes going through then entire ship in one shot), Railguns also can snipe cockpits allowing most of the ship to be intact (make sure to have sensors though because the Railgun range is higher than the default sight lines if accelerators are added onto it which I recommend), Ion beams are good consistent damage when mid range and increase when closer to the target (be wary about prisms because they beam loses power for every prism) Nukes do massive damage but cannot turn and once fired go in the direction that they fired.
Hey Lathrix, I recommend an extremely fast railgun flanker. The rail is extra vulnerable to damage aren't great against shields, huge and it's clumsy (look up rail fanning). But, rails are powerful, especially at long range. If you can manage to get it to stay away from everything but emp you could have a very fun impact impactful craft. Also one of the more fun vessels to build imo.
I would recommend placing flack guns on the outer pincers of your ship and replacing the point defence you have there as flak guns if used correctly can be an unbreakable shield for missiles and a slow torturous death for your enemies
To fire the big cannons forever, it takes 22-26 crew (4 for powering factories. 4 gunners, rest ammo / sulfur) and 3 ammo factories. There’s an excellent post on Reddit with some suggestions for configuration, but I wound up coming up with my own spin on it to fit the shape of my ship. This way, the explosions never have to stop! (Practically speaking, it’s super handy to not have to reload when trying to take on a pirate base with three scary ships defending it.)
I have had a go at this cheeze myself it is fun, sadly I had found out at the cost of 300ish lives about the Crew to Sun interaction, I suspect a Super Shield enveloping them might work, but have to try again I am working on a Brick atm. Once again Lath the intro was funny love the lil tweaks to it :)
Lathland, I think what you should do it missile ship. My reasoning is the following A.) you love missiles B.) you will be able to put the missile launchers anywhere on the ship and they can be mostly protected C.) you can choose to either go with a swarm of missiles (HE/EMP/Nuke) to overwhelm point defences, or a combination of the three types. D.) you will be able to keep it possibly at range so you don't have to worry about taking damage
Lathrix casually commiting warcrimes, as per usual. ^^ "But my honor, I didnt push the ship, it flew into the sun itself! Infact I tried to safe it! Everything past that is legitimate salvage..."
something I plan on making if I get the game, is a do-all scrapper. Basically, its entire thing is disable ships from a safe distance, then move so the ship/asteroid is within jaws lined with lasers and completely gut them
Having a highly mobile, purpose-build fighter as a second ship can be really useful. I like having an eight ion beam ship (focused down into one crystal) to flank and precisely take out reactors/cockpits. Another super useful one is something I call a 'screener', literally just covered on every side in point defense with a small number of shields to protect from incidental fire. The screener doesn't do any offense, but is a life saver against missile and nuke carriers-- especially if you have multiple fighters, since mass HE missiles will devastate them. The Ion ship takes 40-50 crew to keep the beam at 100% uptime, the screener about 20-25 to keep the point defense firing, or less if you just want to protect from an initial salvo of missiles and longevity is less important to you.
Tractor beams combined with railguns is a pretty powerful combo, but also requires quite a bit of power management. You can force enemies out of range or keep them locked in front while your railguns pelt away at them. The ion beams are by far the strongest as long as you avoid chaining more than 2 of them together. The main drawback is the insane power draw and crew requirements to field enough of them to break through just about any ship. My absolute favorite combo those is EMP missiles and nukes. My flagship has just 2 nuke and EMP launchers, but is capable of leveling level 8-10 ships easily with just those two. A nuke barge is by far the most powerful ship type in the game and is the only thing capable of "deleting" entire ships regardless of their level. My recommendation? You're far enough into the game that nuke production is trivial, so I'd say kit out a nuke barge and enjoy the shear destructive power it has. Have 4 - 6 EMP launchers at the back and line both the front and sides with with 12+ nuke launchers. There's no amount of flak in the universe that can stop that type of nuke barrage.
Love your content lathrix! And I would definitely enjoy seeing your take on a long range Doom rail gun with some supporting EMP missiles for those pesky shields.
There’s about three interesting ship designs I can think of right away: - Nurgle’s Cauldron: a dedicated nuke silo with lots of shielding and point defense to bombard an enemy with overwhelming missile swarms. - Tzeentch’s Sight: A railgun ship designed to be as long as possible, with the gun stretching the entire allowed length. Bonus points for multiple rainguns. Cookie if you can make it maneuverable enough to flank an enemy from max range while the Wrath keeps it preoccupied.(Just as planned.) - Slaanesh’s Grasp: Dedicated tractor beam ship with lots of tractors and strong thrusters to move anything and everything around freely. Potential uses include but are not limited to moving ship corpses near a station to group all the loot together for easy sale, moving asteroids to act as a sponge shield to soak up weapons fire and ram enemies with giant rocks, yeeting enemies into the sun, bringing entire stations with you on salvage runs, and much more. What more screams Slaanesh than giving everyone that good succ and tug? Lots of fun ideas to play with. Love the series. Makes me want to pick up the game myself. Keep having fun!
They actually gave Tractor Beams a massive 100% buff in the Steam Release (25000 Kilonewton push/pull strength to 50000 kilonewtons. Yup, thrust in this game is measured in Newtons, which is super nerdy and I love it) together with the engines that also got a 100% buff (Because how much larger the systems are in the new game, and to make the game more snappy and less grindy), but the Tractor Beams were the ones to utilize their huge upgrade the best. They also got a huge power consumption increase to balance it out, though. Anyways, glad to see you having a blast with the improved TBs. *7:05* Also no. There is no such thing as Solar gravity. That stupid cargo ship you for some reason couldn't notice was pushing it inside.
The ion beam has the benefit that the beams hit "instant" and precisely where you aim, what's in my opinion is the biggest advantage over cannons and rockets. The damage and range are also great. Keep in mind that you loose damage when you combine to much beams into the same prism ! Best is to never combine them or when you combine only add 2 at a time.
Though ions lose efficiency when combined, they also become more defensible. If you want a large number of separate beams, you need the crystals aiming them to be in parallel to prevent them combining. This creates a very wide section of exposed crystals on the side of your ship facing your enemy. By combining beams, you can get more damage for the same exposed area. Of course, if you're building a fire support ship, you may not intend for it to get targeted at all. However, it may still be vulnerable in a many-vs-many fleet combat scenario.
Honestly wasn’t expecting to click the video and witness Lathrix commit war crimes for ten minutes straight, and yet here we are. I’m not sure whether I should laugh or scream. 10/10. Would watch again.
For the next ship, either go with ion beams using the prisms to combine a bunch together (maybe a diagonal ship?), or a 'railfan', a ship with multiple railguns that you turn from side to side while targeting a specific block to just shred through enemies with pinpoint accuracy
The usefulness of the HE Missiles is to fire them out the sides of your ship so they arc out and around behind your enemy. You can target components (command, power, crew, thrusters), and HE missiles will swing around to hit your enemy from behind. If you can't hit a rear-exposed command module, HE Missiles can help reduce enemy mobility, if nothing else.
Railgun artillery with some EMP support sounds good. And like others have said, manoeuvre heavy, let malal tank whilst it goes for the soft underbelly. Oh, and because you seemingly didn't notice: when disrupters hit the barrel of a railgun, they shut it down, preventing the railgun from firing so long as its under constant disrupter fire.
Mining lasers can be used as a weapon system in addition to a salvaging aid. And, since they don't need to be on the perimeter, it'd be cool to have a heavily-armored, heavily-shielded mining craft with tractor beams that could venture into the stars' danger-zones, but also is a fully functional warship that just vivisects the enemy vessels.
if you continue to mercilessly dispatch ships by throwing them into the sun, you could use a wall of shields to block the damage from the sun and allow crew to loot/mine behind the ship, just make sure the crew dedicated to the shields doesn't decide to abandon them to join in the looting
Can you offset the tractor beams more and set them to opposing push pull configurations? Seems like that might be able to turn ships so that you can face the least threatening side.
Hey Lathrix, just a tip, deck cannons can hit eachother and the shots won't go through the turret, meaning some of the back turrets might hit one of the front ones and not contribute to the fight.
Honestly Ion beams are SO fun for close quarters, you can COMBINE multiple with the reflectors into one big mega death laser. Combine that with a mining laser set to attack and you could make a killer CQC ship. If you do railguns mines are amazing too, set them forward facing with a ship with good reverse thrusting and you can just nail enemies before they can catch up to you.
I recommend building an Artillery Cruiser that has a long spinal railgun supported by missiles, use mainly EMP missiles but also use HE to target thrusters behind the ship as they can and will curve around and cause mayhem
I've always liked the idea of a railgun artillery ship that is lightly armoured but has a massive railgun (potentially spanning the entire length of the ship) and pelts away at the enemies at maximum range. EMP missiles, if they can reach the enemy, would be a nice addition to counter shields.
I'd personally say to make a foundry roughly twice the size of the current one for more space and production, which will be necessary for a new ship. Then retro fit the current foundry into a railgun ship. It already has the perfect shape and it running through the center with the gap would be an interesting aesthetic, imo.
The Wrath being a dedicated brawler/vanguard with either an EMP support, or a railgun artillery ship that is just ONE BIG RAILGUN doing potshots and using the Wrath as a spotter, could both be fun.
What I want to see would be a swarm of ships. Malal's Wrath on the center tanking damage, and then some other ships surrounding the enemy and shooting weakpoints from the side/back
A railgun artillery ship that uses a tractor beam to keep enemies from getting too close. Or a composite ion beam ship. Or maybe one of those diagonal ships with stacked shields.
what could be interesting I think would be 2 smaller crafts that cooperate, one of which would come in close to the target and destroy its shields and the other one would just shoot a massive railgun rod and tear the ship apart. dunno how hard it'd be to control 2 crafts like this at the same time, but I think it could be fun! :D
from playing myself i think that controlling only 2 craft at once (try 5 lmao) would be pretty easy, especially if you pause at the beginning and tell both of them where to attack from and where to aim for.
a railgun/missle ship is always a good idea, its my main ship so far, just make sure to add a sensor to it, a railgun ship really needs it to spot ships at range, cause its gun has such a long range, just call it the 'long goodbye'.
Perhaps for the second warship a support/artillery? - Something that can bombard from a range and supply ammo so you don't risk the forge when resupplying.
As I recall, you tend to enjoy the concept of laser craft, especially in From The Depths, so here's an idea... Ion Prism craft, but it's maybe eight Emitters (rough estimate, might have to be a narrow craft to afford that, based on what you already have) aimed into a grid of prisms that funnel their power into one solid beam of destruction, guarded of course by two Large Shields which are then backed by two regular shields behind them for concentrated shield defense. To be themed around Tzeentch, of course.
As a fan of Star Wars, i can indeed say Tractor beams are totally OP, so op that the New Republic(the goverment after the Empire) had a ship that could literally rip ISD apart with its tractor beams. hell if i remember correctly there's literally a station that can move celestial bodies via tractor beams (and i think planetary engines or something)
I think the Malal's Wrath requires more reverse thrust, since the forward thrusters in those nacelle sections are being used for turning, the ship has so little reverse thrust that turning ends up pushing it forwards. It's great for rushing enemies down, but with how the difficulty is ramping up, I think it'd be wise to allow the ship to have an easier time positioning itself properly, by giving it the adequate reverse thrust it needs! It must evolve from a ruthless predator with sharp talons and an all-consuming maw to a predator with all those features... and the cunning and mobility to strike from the most optimal angle!
An ion beam ship supported with EMP and maybe HE Missiles would be great since their both long range. If it has good turning it makes it more deadly allowing you to maybe have it become slightly stationary and spin to target an enemy maybe held by tractor beams. No name idea myself but you're a creative guy I'm sure you could find one.
A missle craft or a kind of mother ship/hanger craft. Meaning one big collection of many small and individual weak ships. But they’d be very fast and maneuverable crafts with point defense. Essentially there to harass enemy fire power and if you give them some disrupters and laser weaponry, I think it would work fairly well. Although, missle craft with lots of missles would be amazing to watch. Just because of watching a rain of missles pepper enemy defenses. Or even better, watching missles all release from the side of the craft and guide in on the target would also be awesome to watch.
set up a heavily shielded ship with several tractor beams and mining lasers and disruptors. that pulls a ship into it, then let the mining lasers carve it apart while the disrupters keeps it powered down.
make a missile barrage ship with a ridiculous amount of missiles. like, if an opposing crew member were to look out of the ship, they would not see space. just missiles. that would be beautiful

Maybe a Fire Support Destroyer using railguns and missiles?
a railgun-based ship with high mobility would be interesting, enough range to not be in trouble and high mobility to get weak points
Haha, its fun to see you recognize the baelor reaper. It's one of the classic designs slightly revamped for modern, since it looked so good and fit in the aesthetic well
i think you just summoned a demon to my house with that intro
my fcking light popped few seconds after it xD
Maybe a laser/tractor beam brawler that pulls enemies into its "Jaws" before consuming them that way?
Watching the ship evolve over time is quite fun.
I love it when Lathrix gets really detailed with his builds, like he has in this season.
For a ship suggestion, how's that:
Eye of Terror, a fat ship with an idea of a Death Star - a bunch of ion lasers conjoined into one beam of destruction via prisms??
basic - yes.
Extremely fun - yes.
also, for extra fruity flavour, you can add railguns behind the laser system, so that you can shoot them through the same hole as the lasers
Hey Lath! Quick tip on getting (almost) ALL ressources from sun-destroyied ships;
Build a new ship next to the scap outside the danger zone of the sun, the ship will FIRST take ressources that lie around before taking any in your inventory (so basically they teleport). Then abandon/destroy your ship. Congrats, you salvaged like 99% of the scrap.
Bonus tip: Sell all your ressources to a station before pushing it into the dangerzone. This way you get the money AND can then keep the ressources. lol
OK, for your next ship, try this:
If you have two of the focussing crystals pointing into each other (for the ion beams), they produce a feedback loop, resulting in a maximum of 4x the input power, also ion beams do more damage at closer range.
@@unknownexponential -- A well optimised system would have a cool fractal look.
Oh boy, Lath's Eldritch side showed.
Grabbing all the missions will populate them on your galaxy so you know where they all are. Easier to grab what you want, and avoid if necessary. You can have any number of missions, and they only show up if your in the system, and the ones shown on the UI are always the closest 3.
I think a very fast strafing craft with the ion beam, to get to a weak point of a ship and very precisely remove reactors
You could just build a big ball of layered armor, shields and point defense. It doesn't even need engines. Then push it around with the tractor beam holding it in front of you as a shield to soak up the damage.
"Don't worry, this is just my emotional support asteroid"
Taking a tractor beam and pushing allies into the sun to collect their gizzards, why didn't I think of that? Because I'm not a PSYCHOPATH!! lol
Holy heck that was some funny stuff.
That poor worker being sent into the sun.
"Come with meee and you'll seeee.....a WORLD OF OSHA VIOLATIO-"
@@Santisima_Trinidad ik his naming theme but I posted this whilst incredibly tired
Im normally great at naming
Woa man deep breaths, you don’t have to fit it all in one sentence
@@npgabriel say that to the me when writing an essay
That’s it into the sun with you
Here's an idea for you- A central facility?
If FTD taught me anything it's that you love Doom Crams and Missiles ;)
i think the ship stuck on the station was pushing it into the sun at 6:20 "if i cant get anything from this no one will"
also a ship that takes multiple lasers and focuses them into one death laser would be pretty interesting, not sure how the damage is calculated tho or how easy it would be to build without being massive
LOVING this series
single death laser would lose too much power from all the beam combinations.
best would be to build maybe a 4-wide beam, then you can focus ~16 beams into those 4.
It would be inefficient to have them aim forwards only, but super cool to see 4 huge beams of red death just slicing through enemy ships :)
Efficient way would be to just fire at target though, so it'll focus all 4 beams at the same space.
Iirc, the ideal beam combine ratio is 2, and you lose 25% of one beam's power.
So it would be:
1+1 = 1.75
1.75+1.75 = 3.06 for every 4 beam combination.
The quick maths would be you lose 1 beam for every 4 you combine.
I love how it's called impending lawsuit, really fits what's he's doing and what's about to happen
I love that Lathrix has thought of the people stuck in the 2nd dimension of sdrawkcab swoc.
EMP missiles have the longest range in the game,
HE missiles are cheap and can fire decently fast and overwhelm an enemy,
Railguns can pierce through unshielded sections (sometimes going through then entire ship in one shot), Railguns also can snipe cockpits allowing most of the ship to be intact (make sure to have sensors though because the Railgun range is higher than the default sight lines if accelerators are added onto it which I recommend),
Ion beams are good consistent damage when mid range and increase when closer to the target (be wary about prisms because they beam loses power for every prism)
Nukes do massive damage but cannot turn and once fired go in the direction that they fired.
AND NOW HE'S SPEAKING DEMONIC. That's it. I'm calling the Inqui-
...D-did he just yeet a station into a sun...?
Erm...C-carry on...
I have an idea for the ship, you could do a prism, railgun precision build, and a tractor beam or two to keep things at range
Tractor beams can't affect thing very far away, so this strategy may not work as effectively as you imagine.
My reasoning is the following
A.) you love missiles
B.) you will be able to put the missile launchers anywhere on the ship and they can be mostly protected
C.) you can choose to either go with a swarm of missiles (HE/EMP/Nuke) to overwhelm point defences, or a combination of the three types.
D.) you will be able to keep it possibly at range so you don't have to worry about taking damage
Lathrix casually commiting warcrimes, as per usual. ^^
"But my honor, I didnt push the ship, it flew into the sun itself! Infact I tried to safe it! Everything past that is legitimate salvage..."
something I plan on making if I get the game, is a do-all scrapper. Basically, its entire thing is disable ships from a safe distance, then move so the ship/asteroid is within jaws lined with lasers and completely gut them
14:20 there is a good point defense mod
There’s about three interesting ship designs I can think of right away:
- Nurgle’s Cauldron: a dedicated nuke silo with lots of shielding and point defense to bombard an enemy with overwhelming missile swarms.
- Tzeentch’s Sight: A railgun ship designed to be as long as possible, with the gun stretching the entire allowed length. Bonus points for multiple rainguns. Cookie if you can make it maneuverable enough to flank an enemy from max range while the Wrath keeps it preoccupied.(Just as planned.)
- Slaanesh’s Grasp: Dedicated tractor beam ship with lots of tractors and strong thrusters to move anything and everything around freely.
Again arm the Khorne's forge, even if it's a tractor beam or mining laser.
Why is hearing that Latrhix committed war crimes the least surprising thing I’ve heard all week?
I love this channel.
Loving the return of the series it's amazing
I absolutely love the idea of a rail gun artillery ship because you’d basically be building a space grade super sniper
Just a lil tech tip; you can double-click weapons to select all weapons of that type
I saw a video that shows you can enter the sun’s damage radius without taking damage if you have full shield coverage and strong enough shields
if you continue to mercilessly dispatch ships by throwing them into the sun, you could use a wall of shields to block the damage from the sun and allow crew to loot/mine behind the ship, just make sure the crew dedicated to the shields doesn't decide to abandon them to join in the looting
shields don't protect crew in the sun zone
@@ez_theta_z9317 pain
@@reddoublead3991 that is indeed what the crew of my stardiver felt, very briefly
Can you offset the tractor beams more and set them to opposing push pull configurations? Seems like that might be able to turn ships so that you can face the least threatening side.
Make another Malal’s Wrath, and upgrade that one, or make a new ship but keeping with the “Attack Bug” theme.
The name of the first ship you pushed into the sun "Impending lawsuit" and you saying i'm most likely committing war crimes here, Priceless!
Hey Lathrix, just a tip, deck cannons can hit eachother and the shots won't go through the turret, meaning some of the back turrets might hit one of the front ones and not contribute to the fight.
Please build a railgun artillery. adding EMP missiles off the side to help remove shields would not be a bad idea either.
I do love that at the very first opportunity he commits war crimes against his allies for personal gain. Thats our Lathrix! :)
I've always liked the idea of a railgun artillery ship that is lightly armoured but has a massive railgun (potentially spanning the entire length of the ship) and pelts away at the enemies at maximum range. EMP missiles, if they can reach the enemy, would be a nice addition to counter shields.
My vote is on a ship with a stupid number of railguns. Just an unending barrage of long-range instant death
Button to thank Lathland for editing so well and being a respectable high quality TH-camr

I’ve picked up this game because of your vids and it’s awesome! My next plan is a swarm of micro ships to surround targets.
Extra ship: A flanker.
Also if you see a mission without a distance it typically means you have completed it, accept and then cash out.
*burns alive a giant spaceship" that was really goofy -latrix
What I want to see would be a swarm of ships. Malal's Wrath on the center tanking damage, and then some other ships surrounding the enemy and shooting weakpoints from the side/back
A railgun artillery ship that uses a tractor beam to keep enemies from getting too close. Or a composite ion beam ship. Or maybe one of those diagonal ships with stacked shields.
Two spinal mounted rails with a sensor for the snipes. Either way, stay awesome, hope you enjoy your new office.
what could be interesting I think would be 2 smaller crafts that cooperate, one of which would come in close to the target and destroy its shields and the other one would just shoot a massive railgun rod and tear the ship apart.
dunno how hard it'd be to control 2 crafts like this at the same time, but I think it could be fun! :D
from playing myself i think that controlling only 2 craft at once (try 5 lmao) would be pretty easy, especially if you pause at the beginning and tell both of them where to attack from and where to aim for.
a railgun/missle ship is always a good idea, its my main ship so far, just make sure to add a sensor to it, a railgun ship really needs it to spot ships at range, cause its gun has such a long range, just call it the 'long goodbye'.
Reminds me of the shenanigans you could do in Starfleet Battles. Tractor beams are awesome when leveraged correctly.
Tractor beam + laser microwave. Make a big maw full of lasers and have a tractor beams to pull ships into this maw/kill zone.
Perhaps for the second warship a support/artillery? - Something that can bombard from a range and supply ammo so you don't risk the forge when resupplying.
The directional energy weapon is seriously cool. Would love to see how you manage to make a ship designed around a ship carver lol
