I am new to the filter game. I bought the Zomei grads and ND just a few months back. Mainly as you have said, cost reasons. Live here on the opposite coast in Virginia and travel a good bit to the Outer Banks and all up and down the coast chasing storms and hurricanes when I can. You always rock man!! the images are always superb! Keep up the great work and congrats again on the marriage

Hey Nick. I enjoyed your honest review and the fact that you’re going to pass it on to one of your viewers. I’m from Eugene and like you, prefer to not carry a bunch of bulky stuff but wishing I had my Lee system at the Oregon coast because it is super bright here today. When I have it I typically don’t need it and when I don’t have it, I do need it. I like the option of putting a circular polarizer in that Summit setup but it does look a little bit ungainly altogether. Thanks for keeping it real Nick and congrats to you and your wife. Hawaii looked awesome!

Yay!! You’re back! Can’t wait to see the F4 series! I’m in your home state and currently use a ProMaster CP. I don’t screw it on tight but there are occasions I cannot get the dang thing off. For some reason it really clamps onto my lens and out in the field I either have to change lenses or walk away angry. Stacking would be a dream however with one that twists and self-locks that’s a boobytrap I dare not try. I have wanted a drop-in system but haven’t bitten into it yet as I don’t know who’s to buy. When I did underwater video I used PP’s filters and they didn’t let me down. I was one of your first 100,000 subscribers and if you choose me, I’ll drive down your way and pick it up! A nice f-up video of you stepping on my CPL would be funnn! Congrats on your wedding too!!!

I have been collecting and using the Cokin P series filters for many years. I have almost every filter, even the uncommon prism. But a recent review of use showed that I used very few of them, mostly the circular polariser and the NDs. As a retiree I have to watch the pennies, and whilst I have looked at the PolarPro filter system I cannot justify the expense. So a gift of them would gladden my heart. I found your channel fairly recently and have binge-watched all of your Sony videos (I shoot the A77V; sadly I can't afford to replace it with the A7R3iii which would be my choice). I live in Hampshire in the UK, an area with little in the way of epic landscapes. All the best, and 🤞.

Hi Nick- I'm almost a nextdoor neighbor- live in John Day OR - about 200 miles straight south of you. Love your videos - very informative- have followed for quite some time but just subscribed (your my first!!). Currently shooting with a Canon crop (70D) but excited to move to a full frame in the next couple of weeks. Using Singh Ray ND's and polarizer (which I got while on a David Muench workshop in Death Valley about 10 years ago). My go-to lens is a 16-50 Sigma with 77mm threads and a poor beat up Conkin filter holder.
Love your Oregon/Washington costal vids in particular- made it to Iceland for some stellar Auroral displays two years ago January- so your Iceland blogs were a hit. Keep up the great content. Hope to see you out there some day.
    Best.
    Bob

I'm glad you got your hands on these, Nick! I did some pre-release content about these filters, and when I met with the PolarPro team I mentioned that they should hit up you and Thomas Heaton. (I just happened to live 5 minutes away from their HQ in SoCal) I"m not sure if they were already planning to do so, but if not, you're welcome!
I stopped using GND filters many years ago, too, as a Nikon/Sony shooter mostly. However, like you, I found it easy to put them to good use, especially when shooting things like timelapses where exposure blending isn't an option. No matter how much DR your camera has, you can always use ~2 EVs more if you're stuck timelapse-ing a sunset with a really shadowy foreground.
I was especially excited for this system because it came out at the exact same time as two new mirrorless lenses which accepted standard 82mm filters at focal lengths which had been previously only available on fixed-hood ultra-wides. Since I don't use GNDs normally, I've never been a fan of those enormous clamp-on filter systems that you can get for the 14-24mm f/2.8 or 12-24mm f/4 lenses out there.
(This PolarPro Summit system is a 105mm filter system; those gigantic clamp-on filter systems are 150mm!)
BTW, for those who are wondering:
On the Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L, you can shoot at 16mm with all filters and no vignetting. You do see a few pixels worth of vignetting along a left or right edge at 15mm, but it crops out easily and you're left with a 15.5mm or 16mm FOV.
On the Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S, you can actually shoot at 15mm with all filters and no vignetting! And, at 14mm, again you do see a faint bit of vignetting, but you could crop it and still get 14.5mm or 15mm FOV.
(I tested this myself, with a final production Summit Kit.)
I have no way of knowing for sure, but I bet if Sony (Or Sigma, or Tokina/Tamron) ever tries to compete with Nikon's 14-30mm f/4, and makes a 15-35mm f/4 or a 14-30mm f/4 that accepts 82mm filters, I suspect you'd get a similar result from the Summit kit: no vignetting at ~1mm in from the widest end. Or, maybe Sony's next GM ultra-wide will replace the 16-35 2.8 GM with a 15-35 2.8 GM, to compete instead with Canon FF mirrorless.
We'll see what the future holds! All I can say is, if you do use square/GND filters a lot, this is the new champion.

From Indiana. I currently have one Breakthrough photography 10stop filter. In the process of building a good system, but as always, beer budget on a wine appetite. I have an old cokin holder and a couple of their gnd's but they are cheap and definitely get no use now. On the lookout for a good polarizer and a 6stop nd. That should get me where I need to be for most things landscape. Love the content and REALLY appreciate the no BS, non sponsored, reviews. REFRESHING!! Looking forward to the project the F4 group is working on. Dig all of you guys and between the 4/5 of you, I've learned/been entertained a lot. Congrats on taking the vows!!

And hung out with you and your Son at Cape Disappointment during a high surf event a little over a year ago. Great to get your opinion on this setup, I’ve been looking at it for a while, but it’s a big investment to change. I currently use the lee filter system, which are all scratched or chipped, I’ve certainly put them through their paces in Ireland. I’m in beautiful Southern Ireland. Currently been catching up with all your podcasts when I’m out walking and trying to get fit, certainly is keeping me entertained. Keep up the great work Nick 😊

This setup seems so user-friendly. Thanks for the thorough and real review - and for the giveaway. Most of my shots are landscapes around Oregon, as I’m out of Portland. I don’t currently use filters because, to be honest, they’ve always seemed so daunting. From the metal borders to the stacking, and color consistency, this one seems pretty user friendly and definitely worth using. Thanks again!

This is my first time commenting, like on anything... Regardless of the chance to obtain new filters, I just wanted to say that you've helped me progress significantly since I started watching your channel in October of 2016 when I picked up a camera after forgetting my passion for approximately 20 years of being in the corporate world. I still have much to learn, but just wanted to say, "Thank you." Oh, and I have some super color casty (is that a word?) Lee filters and am based right outside of Chicago, but am hoping to change that to the PNW by the end of the year. Take care.

Hi Nick.I enjoyed your thoughtful and honest appraisal of these filters. I live in the UK and use Lee filters: Polariser, NDs, and Graduated ND's, which I have had for approximately 17 years, so they are rather worn. I must say the Polarpro Summit filters you tested sound very good quality indeed and I personally would love to win them, especially as they are glass. Apart from my glass polariser my other filters are resin, so it would be a massive upgrade for me.

Hey, Switzerland calling :) Thank you for your honest and informative views. Always fun to watch. Keep up the good work, but keep in mind, we’re all still here if you ever need a break. I am using a b&h screw-on big stopper. Find it fiddly not to touch focus or zoom while putting on the filter. I am in the market for bulky filters that would also go on my Nikon 14-24 without braking the bank. Maybe their upcoming frame will use the same filters :)

I have several round filters that consist of Tiffen, Hoya & BW. I'm an old school guy who purchased the old Cokin resin filters probably thirty years ago that came in the funky tobacco, grey & orange colors. They scratched very easily & I gave them away years ago. I've been interested in the new filter systems, but they are pretty pricey, and so many to choose from. Thanks for the great review from Coeur d Alene Idaho.

Nick- great honest review! Currently have cheap Hoya filters, so cheap I don’t use them as often as I need. Send those bad boys to me in Missouri

Hey Nick, Love your channel! I am in Portland Oregon and I currently use Tiffen circular filters. They are okay but I would love to have some high quality filters. Keep up the great work and congratulations on getting married!

Greetings, Nick! I currently have no filters but I’ve experimented with Lee in the past. I’m currently stationed in Japan, so getting to try PolarPro in person is very hard. This looks like a great filter system. Keep up the great work, brother!

Hello Nick, I have watched your videos for ever it seems. I currently don't have a filter system other than cheap ones that are affordable for a teacher to buy. I am a full-time teacher in public education and a part-time semi-professional photographer that lives on a tight budget. Thanks for all of the honest videos and the opportunity to have a chance to get a filter system.

Currently use Nikon L37c filters on my vintage primes I bought in the '80s. On my new system I got the Hoya Filter Kit (UV(c), Polarizer & NDx8 filters for about $55. Hoya has been around a long time and I really like them as they are a good bag for the buck deal. I have been looking at the Cokin 100mm system, but I had them in the '80s and they were plastic filters back then and wasn't impressed. I'm from California, but now live in Germany. Keep up the great vids. Also, tell Gavin "never turn your back on the ocean."

I have always and still currently use really cheap Hoya filters, I can't really say if they are any good because I have nothing to compare them too.
You always manage to teach me something and you always inspire me.
Keep up the amazing work, much love from the South-east of England 👍

Nick, I've been following you channel for quite a while now. I enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from your tutorials. I currently use b+w screw on filters and have never used this type of large slide in type filters system. sounds like the optics are premium grade. Thanx for your videos'. Todd in Hokkaido, Japan.

Hi Nick....enjoyed the honest review of the Polar Pro system. I would love to have these in my photographic arsenal, since, as a retiree, have never been able to afford these expensive drop in filter systems. Instead, have been primarily using B+W and Hoya screw on filters for many yrs. Currently living in Aiken, S.C. but love seeing all of your Or. coastal videos, since I once lived in Portland. Would mostly use the Polar Pro filter system when I could just pull up to whatever subject I intended to photograph, lending itself to working out of my car, where weight and size are not as big a factor. As an avid hiker, where, as you know, size and weight constraints really matter, I would continue to use only the screw on filters while hiking any distance. Always look fwd to your next video.
