great job with this! it is kind of shocking how few good demos of the lollars there are, and this really gave a good idea of how they can sound

@dwightpeters Thank you very much. I guess this is very niche😄

Wow I'm surprised to like the original pickups better. Doesn't sound like a Jazzmaster at all with the Lollars - too middy and dark.

Hi, actually the MIJ Jazzmaster is indeed quite dark sounding in comparison to most other JMs I‘ve come across so far (actually all other guitars, for that matter). But to me this seems to be the case regardless of which PUs are installed. Might have something to do with the Basswood body or the electronics. Personally I prefer the Lollars since they have have more mids and cut thru better in a mix.

    Dear Paul
Nice video (but must admit it was difficult for me to hear the difference):
2 years ago you made a video comparing the white made in Japan Jazzmaster with your, at that point, new beatifull candy apple red crafted in Japan Jazzmaster. You stated that maybe you would make some videos comparaing these two japanese guitars with their US made counterparts.
Did you made any of these videos - if so I can't find them. Do you have links to them?
I am a totally beginner looking for what to buy. First I found Telecasters interesting then now mostly Jazzmasters, and preferable those made i the US. But for what I can read, the quality of US made Fender Jazzmasters should have deteriorated.
Me - beeiing totally green on guitars (I have played trumpet some 5 years but that was 25 years ago) I should of course buy a cheap guitar for 200 EUR, but then.... I don't want to, I want to have something from the start I really like.... and preferable from Corona, California ( I have looked at Vintage II Jazzmasters) but if they are badly made maybe a Crafted in Japan Jazzmaster, that is not so expensive (but not cheap either) could be a start..
    Cheers Jakob

Hi Jakob, unfortunately I couldn‘t get my hands on a US Made JM yet. The American Original looks nice, though. If you‘re looking for good content on off-set guitars, I highly recommend Puisheen‘s Channel. He has tons of videos on Jazzmaster of all budget ranges.
BTW, I‘m currently editing my video on the Squier 40th Anniversary Jazzmaster. I Hope to release it in 1-2 weeks.
