Jonathan is the best organist and transcriber in the world at this time. He is single-handedly making the organ the organ hugely popular and I thank him for this. He indeed is our National Treasure and should be Knighted. The brilliance and pleasure he brings is uneuqalled.

@@DonjaIngard I do know that God gave him this talent, but a talent is of no use if the endless work had not been put in to develop this gift. I can easily determine that SIr Jonathan Scott has put in the endless hours taken to hone his craft into a shining beacon with which to bring us the pleasure of listening to him with our earthly ears. For this, he should be knighted. God hardly needs to be Knighted with an earthly tin star hanging on a ribbon. God simply needs to be thanked for giving us Jonathan.

@Greta Livingston You're right, Jonathan Scott is a superb transcriber. So is Peter Richard Conte, who has been organist of the Wanamaker Organ in Philadelphia since Keith Chapman was killed in a plane crash in June 1989. The Wanamaker has the largest and best string division in the world, designed by Marcel Dupre and Charles M. Courboin, it contains 6,340 pipes in 88 ranks. It has 36 violin stops in the 8-foot pitch, first through sixth concert violin, flat, sharp, and natural for each, and first through sixth muted violin, flat, sharp, and natural for each. The entire Wanamaker Organ has 28,750 pipes in 464 ranks. Conte is also head organist at Longwood Gardens, an American Symphonic instrument of 10,010 pipes, built by the Aeolian Company

@@TheHappyCooker68--- I just took a listen to Peter Richard Conte play the Wanamaker at Broadwalk Hall and although I can see why you admire him, I do not think he can quite match our glorious Jonathan Scott. You may wonder why I say that. Let me try to explain. It's as if Jonathan steps out into the Midday Sun, all bright and clean, without a wrinkle or stain, creating an atmosphere of grandeur that is often missing on so many organ recordings. He reaches the hearts of his listeners. His brother Tom has a lot to do with this for his recordings and filming are unblemished. The 2 of them know how to impact the audience. While I have listened to many Wanamaker recordings, most of them are too muffled to get the true impact. The instrument can be too unwieldy to reach the heart of the listener. While I have not heard Conte play live, until I do, I will stick with Jonathan as my most Beloved Organist. Who knows? We may one day be fortunate enough to see the two brothers take the reins of the Wanamaker and make it sing with the euphonic strains of heavenly choirs.

Greta. I suspect Jonathan doesn’t care about knighthoods but you are so right about the brothers making the instrument more widely appreciated. Thank goodness they are on this mission because there is no way diminishing church congregations can afford the proper maintenance of these wonderful instruments.

Thou shalt make no graven images... Look at all that nice gold leaf. Just think of those factory workers who paid from their miserable wages to fulfull the ambitions of the clergy. But they also gave us this organ for Janathan to paly.
