This video should go into the archives somewhere. You picked the perfect instrumental for it (dark, alone, but hopeful). This year and some change has lasted for what feels like a lifetime. I revisit this video to remember the feeling and to appreciate how far we've come. I was recovering from COVID sepsis when I saw this shared on the PNW Photography Facebook page and I watched it endlessly. Thank you for sharing your art with the world.

Saw your post on Imgur and figured I'd give the whole video a watch. Having lived in WA most of my life it certainly hit home in a crazy way. Especially since I recognize alot of these places and have never seen it that way before. You did a fantastic job on the video !!!
So spooky it made me cry. I am born and raised Seattle native & still live here. This was beautifully filmed. It felt like I was seeing the city after an apocalypse or the end of the world. Which is the how I felt when lockdown hit for months. You never see any of those locations without life. I am sure it's the same for many of the cities around the US but this is the only city I know and every place by heart. I have pictures myself of when I went to go run on a Intercity trail and literally one of the rare people out there.. every time I run across them it's still gives me that spooky feeling. Lonely picturing really being the only one left in the world but also the flip side knowing it wasn't and i loved it. Strangers staying away from my bubble? I am perfectly fine with that knowing that there's people there around but a welcome temporary relief keeping them all indoors. ✌️
I'm so glad you did this! It is an excellent account of how deserted Seattle came to be during the whole quarantine stay-at-home order. The music is exceptional too.
I remember the first week of lockdown in Seattle, I was working at Safeway in University District but I had to take the light rail from Downtown to get to work. It was so surreal having every other seat on the light rail blocked off by yellow tape and signs and every one spread so far apart with limited passengers as the air units were blasting to get fresh air in each cabin. Then I got to The Ave and every shop and business was boarded up, locked, empty and there were absolutely no cars in sight! I go to work in the deli and we had to designate standing areas in the back to assist customers one at a time, any time we needed to go near another co-worker to grab or prep something, we had to call out "Clear around me, please" so no one would stand near us while we were prepping stuff. Thanksgiving was the BIGGEST disaster, because we all had to move every single prep table and assemble each part of the family meals on opposite sides of the kitchen, away from each other and bag them and put them in the refrigerator. I have never had to do that in any work environment I have ever worked at!
Man there's a decent chance you saw me making this video haha, I lived on University Ave and 55th, a single block from that Safeway. The basketball court you see in this video is the one directly across the street.
Gorgeous, and absolutely surreal. You packaged it in a perfect way as well, from the timing, the transitions, the music... It expresses so much more than just the glass and concrete we see.
It's spooky, man, really eerie. I've watched it at least ten times in the last hour, it's so engrossing. You get a real lump in your throat. And then this dramatic music. I could watch it for hours... Great idea, fantastically implemented! Real end time scenario! Unique footage - Pulitzer Prize suspect!!!
Very well executed! I haven't gone into Seattle recently and its truly unsettling to see such a vibrant city very quiet. Thanks for capturing this and making such an amazing video!
Awesome documentation, Beautiful video. It's a stark and powerful reminder of how fully the city shut down and how we all stopped moving. THANK for you creating this.
as a Seattle native, this was incredible - so eerie! Especially footage of Pike being empty... and I think this is the first time in Seattle's history that there is no traffic..
Dude, wow! While watching your video it hit me how unbelievably extraordinary the time we‘re living in is right now. I guess I got pretty much used to all the weirdness because life and work is going on and I „just gotta function“. But your movie hit hard. Wow. Thanks for that! (Came from Imgur btw)
Great video it really hits home. I love this city and I feel for every single person affected by this. Stay safe everyone can't wait to see y'all out after!
Well done! These scenes are eerie all on there own; but what makes this video heartbreaking is that Seattlites have been waiting for the sun for eight months. This is the time of the year when the streets would come alive. When people would thaw out after months of hibernation. What vast, glimmering emptiness! p. s. Insert tone deaf joke about traffic here.
How sad for the families that live there. What a shame. The repercussions will be huge. The stories of the individuals going through this atrocity will be so sad. God bless the people caught in the middle of this mess!
Video was amazing, I moved away 3 yrs ago and it is very hard to see Seattle so quiet and still. I cried all the way through, This has been a very difficult year for our nation and the world. I pray for our strong rebound until then stay strong we will thrive again.
This makes me want to visit Seattle. Was this also shot earlier in the morning? Has any of the traffic returned in the past few months? Seems quite different from how it is out here in the Portland metro area.
🎼Very professionally done👍🏼 You certainly have captured the grim feel of an empty city- infrastructure in place, even electricity running through the traffic lights. 🚦 A good addition to what is probably an excellent portfolio 🎥👌🏽
Nice work! I work downtown every night and this really captured what it's like in the town right now...thank you. I produce instrumentals I'd love to submit a track to one of your future projects.
I'm amazed you didn't capture a single one of the many, many homeless people that I saw on my drive through the city last week. They're the ones that have been abandoned, not the city.
@@Nateinthewild I have in the past, but haven't been able to work in a long time due to health issues, so i've constantly been on the cusp of homelessness myself, especially now. I've been there before, and I will most likely have to go back at some point very soon. I'm glad to hear you donate, but one of the things they need the most is exposure. Most of their problems come from people refusing to acknowledge their existence, and every time I see recordings of my city, I wonder how much effort it took to hide all of the homeless you can find on nearly every street that everyone likes to pretend aren't a very real part of it. Sorry, I know you were just trying to make a cool looking video to document the pandemic, I might have let my stress get the best of me. I hope you are staying safe.
@@winterx2348 Well since my goal was to show zero humans, I considered the homeless population to be humans and I also didn't show them. There was no priority given one way or another, I was simply trying to avoid all people. I hope you're staying safe and healthy as well.
I miss the old Seattle of 10 years ago ride free bus was here from Space Needle to China Town...homeless people where nice...you could walk downtown in peace... hell you could Walk down and meet a total stranger and spend the hole day with them and never talk to them again...for it was only for the moment...now that this has happened this just gave way to more developers rubbing their hands together for all the businesses that have succumbed to this..thanks for everything you have given me Seattle I am forever grateful.
Towards the end, I was thinking, this NEEDS a timelapse as it goes dark and bam, there it was. That was amazing, very very haunted feel. One missed oppurtunity was an abandoned basketball on the court, that would have been a nice touch. But keep up the good work :)
Wow, amazing takes Nate! I wonder the times of the shots. It would be nice to have a version with the timestamp of the shot in a corner. I'm sure they are not even early morning or anything like that. Seattle is empty right now :O
Any chance you're willing to share a couple of these clips, need some quarantine shots of seattle for a music video I'm putting together! Or do you have them up as stock footage anywhere?
Love it! This must have taken some work! If you remove half the buildings and replace the viaduct it almost reminds me of when I stayed at the YMCA in 1998..I used to walk around at 4 am thinking such a large sized city was all mine..you were more likely to see people.in the small Alaskan town I came from at the time of morning..eerie

Thank you so much! It really means a lot to know my art has resonated with somebody.
I guess I am kinda off topic but do anyone know a good site to watch newly released movies online?
@Jonah Justus Flixportal =)
@Kaison Brett Thanks, I went there and it seems to work :D Appreciate it !!
@Jonah Justus happy to help :)
This is amazing. Hopefully, nothing like this will happen in your lifetime again so I'm glad you documented it this way!
I really hope this is the only chance I get also!

This is really hauntingly beautiful. Thank you.
Awesome job Nate. The time the world was on pause, captured perfectly.
this was beautifully done, like the ending scene to an end of the world movie where all humanlife is eradicated.
Great music selection as well.
It looks like there was a mass evacuation

This would be challenging to make in Denver, It looks far different here. People are so active and out and about still... magical work dude.

Nice vid! Interesting how the sound moved between mono and stereo. Great footage too
Amazing pictures.
- Hey! Watchu doin out there?
- I'm getting some really cool shots...
Really nice man. Keep it up.
Hi Nateinthewild - brilliant cinematography and music. I was wondering if I could speak with you offline about licensing one clip. Thanks.
Loved the views that you chose and the music.
It`s kind of abnormal which makes me feel like movie set,, so fascinating shots. Keep going!
my city!!! really miss it! how were you able to fly downtown like that? is it not illegal?
Stellar video Nate
Out-fucking-standing!!!!
Congratulations you three should be proud of this.
Very beautiful video. My hope is the world from outside is resting while the world from within is awakening.

Beautifully frightening. Our dystopian reality.
Chilling
Beautifully photographed and edited. But where'd all the vagrants go? (Hint: Pioneer Sq.)
Constructions and cranes are everywhere. I wonder what they are building next? a park or new skyscrapers? Really cool city anw

I live in Seattle Washington, it's a nice video but its fs not abandoned.
Right? I'm like when the F was this taken. Every time I need to go somewhere there's traffic everywhere
changing the music and showing this as people be responsible and finding ways to come together while we take care. Beautifully shot though...
2:05 truly unbelievable. I
Great video. I'm wondering what time of the day this was recorded.
Sorry for your job loss but I could rewatch for hours. Stunning and moving!
