  • TEACH to Go episode 94, ”Heart Healthy Fitness for your Child with Christina DaSilva” is another great episode. In this episode, registered dietitian Christina DaSilva and I discuss the importance of nutrition and fitness for children, particularly those with ADHD. She explores strategies for making lifestyle changes, overcoming common barriers to healthy eating, and the significance of physical activity. Christina emphasizes the need for gradual behavior change and offers practical tips for hydration and nutrition, especially for young athletes. The discussion also highlights the importance of making healthy choices enjoyable and sustainable for families.
Let’s take a look at this clip of Christina DaSilva talking about educating her patients on what a heart healthy diet is and helping them apply it to their current situation.
Christina DaSilva is a registered dietitian, certified personal trainer, and group fitness instructor. She received her undergraduate education from Purdue University (Boiler Up!) and completed her master's degree in exercise physiology at Florida State University. Christina currently works at Riley Children's Hospital, where she serves as the pediatric outpatient cardiology dietitian. She also is the founder of Fit n Fueled, LLC, which specializes in helping the athlete and active individual population achieve their performance goals. Christiana loves working with the pediatric population because they are at a critical stage of development where the habits they form now can have a profound impact on their health and wellbeing in the future.
The full length episode is available for members of the TEACH ME ADHD and ADHD Sleuths community hosted by Dr. Nerissa Bauer of Let's Talk Kids Health, LLC. If you are a parent to a child with or at risk for ADHD, make sure to check out her website for resources (www.letstalkki...)
