I love how every Sleep show that gets announced is such a monumental occasion, to the point where every show is filmed and uploaded about as soon as they happen. I saw Sleep twice in one year and felt like I hit the jackpot of stoner gigs. First time was at Roadburn with 2000 other people. 8 bass amps and 6 guitar amps. I'll never forget the sheer heft of it. The air was so thick that I had to lower my head on the railing in front of me (I was standing on a balcony) several times during the gig. The second time I saw them in Dublin. Way up the front, right in front of Matt. I got so fucked up that Matt turned into this pink ball, warping around his guitar. Some of the best memories off my concert attending life. It's simple, once Sleep comes around and one hears the call you can just not resist to follow the smoke.
Beerfish That's beautiful. When i saw them it was in club because the festival they were playing was cancelled. I was less than ten feet away from Matt and Al, four amps each. Legendary band live.
Thanks for posting! Wish I was there. Tickets sold out in 2 seconds, same with the Vans show. Trying to get into a Sleep show is more difficult than riding the Sonic Titan to the Holy Mountain.
no, it doesn't. if it does you will find yourself having to fork out hundreds of dollars for seats at arenas or super large venues. enjoy the obscurity of it and the up close ambiance because you will lose it if it gets "more popular". its perfect the way it is.
