This is a great promotional video. It is wonderful to see someone so skilled and so humble succeed in the way you are. Your work is certainly worth whatever price you charge for it.
Thank you so much I really appreciate the kind words.
Love what you guys are doing and the passion.
Thank you so much. You guys make some really high quality stuff been really happy with the products of yours I have used!
Love watching you turn junk into top-quality builds. You are truly a Master Craftsman.
Thank a lot! I appreciate you watching!
Your channel has given me the confidence to do the sheet metal work on my challenger. I built a chassis jig and almost have the trunk section cut out so far! Great job!
That is so awesome to hear, thanks. Good luck on the build keep me updated!
Rick’s channel has become my favorite all time channel. You will not go wrong if you choose his shop. I’m restoring a 70 Barracuda and he has taught me so much more than I could imagine. If Rick tells you there’s a problem, you can trust him. Great job Rick, keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for the very kind words. Good luck on your Barracuda that is such a cool car.
Same! I’m restoring a 69 firebird and love watching the firebird related videos. Thankfully mine didn’t start with as much rust as the one on the channel! This is by far my favorite channel on TH-cam right now.
@@abutcher2074 thank you very much!
Great videos, great work, and I think it's awesome that it's a family thing.
Thank you very much!
Great video, I've been watching your channel for some time now. Thanks for sharing your process. It's been very educational. Look forward to the videos in 2024.
Thanks a lot and I appreciate you tuning in and also chatting during a lot of the premiers I have had.
Undoubtedly your knowledge, skill and experience is extensive but your ability to communicate this in your videos is outstanding, I have a feeling your yard will fill up and you'll be turning away work soon, a pro street Vega build from scratch would be cool
Thank you very much for the really nice compliment, A pro street vega would be really awesome. Trust me if one shows up i will try to add it on the video list.
Great video . Your work is top notch !
Thank you!
Your videos are great tutorials, I learn something new with each one viewed. Looking forward to your 69 Firebird resurrection.
Thanks a lot. The firebird is stuck waiting on 1 part for the next video to come out just as an update.
Been watching only for the past few months but thankful I found your channel. You do a fantastic job explaining the what and why's for a noob like me. Thank you and have a wonderful 2024, you deserve it!

You’re an absolute genius in the preservation and restoration of our automotive history!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Great video. Sharing all that hard earned knowledge you gained from years of hard work is a gift that is very valuable. Whether you are DIY or considering having Rick take on your dream project you will not find a better resource anywhere! Speaking from experience he puts heart and soul into all of the work and really has your best interest at heart, not to mention going over the top for quality. Thank you Rick and to your awesome family!
Mike thank you so much for the kind words and giving me the opportunity to work for you.
Just watching the videos over and over confirms my choice to get on your waiting list. Great informational video Rick. Thanks.
Thank you so much I am excited and honored to be able to work together in the future.
The confidence you show with ease to restore a car and to preserve for ages.
And a ton of tips and tricks.
Legend.
Thank you very much, we all can help each other out and make the restoration world better.
It’s like restoring Rembrandts.

I’m from the Netherlands.

@@Raysboss302 I have been putting on some formula 1 when its on he has been on top of the game with winning for sure.
Carthage classic is an incredible resource for people restoring, rebuilding or simply repairing their vehicles. I think we (viewers) are incredibly lucky to have such a resource, I know I am and let me say thank you for taking the time to make all these videos. As someone who does something similar I know the amount of hours and effort that go into making these videos. A lot of guys like myself who are new to this or simply DIYers can make their own projects come to life because of this channel. And I can first hand say this because I'm building my dream car (72 Nova) and one of the reasons I was able to get it was because I saw your videos and said "I can do this". Now mind you my work is crude, slow and often embarrassing at times but I know one day I'll have a restored car because this channel helped me. Best part about all this is it's nice to see a family operation with a good bunch of people. Rick I am happy for your success and wish your much more because you deserve it. Keep up the good work Rick you are a master thanks for inspiring and helping all us driveway mechanics around the world!
Max, first thank you so much for the very kind words, I really am flattered. I will say I am trying to get close to your level of video editing on your channel, Honestly some of the best I have really seen on youtube. I am excited to see your Nova come to life and been watching all your videos, its such a great story and restoration you are doing keep up all the good work.
@@carthageclassiccars Happy to hear I was able to return some of the inspiration even if it's something like editing. Im fortunate because that's how I made a living for the past 15 years so I have a bit of an advantage, but in terms of the car stuff pretty much square one for me. Thanks again for everything and have a great day
Rick you have produced one of my favorite channels! I’ve been building cars for years but absolutely have learned from you and your processes.
Thank you so much for following along and the nice comment. Good luck with your builds.
Rick, you are the bench mark. Well done my friend, keep up the good work.🏅
Thanks for the kind words it means a lot!
I haven't seen any other channel that takes the time to explain everything on details or long videos about just the car work. Usually some take more time talking than showing the work. Keep the good work God blessed you. 👍🏼
Thanks a lot Ill keep trying to make the channel better, appreciate the feedback!
Rick love your work. Really nice to see someone who has integrity in their work. I have a few GTO’s in my garage that I’m hoping to complete soon. Yes I have a 69 judge in the mix. Just because everyone always ask. I’m just south of you in South Carolina. Keep up the great work.
Thanks a lot for the comment. I love GTO's hopefully one day ill get one on the channel. We are close enough you never know if we will see each other at a show sometime soon, take care!
You do great resto video's keep up the hard work! Thanks for content!
Will do and you are welcome! Thanks a lot for checking out my videos and the support!
Great content and great tips.... waiting for more projects...thanks
You're welcome they are in the works, hang tight!
Great video Rick! You have some nice projects in the shop. Looking forward to following along with the builds in 2024!
Thank you very much. I appreciate you following along.
Been watching from the beginning. Great work and keep it rollin boss.
THANKS A LOT for the continued long term support I really appreciate it!
I’ve seen the hood.
I hope it’s gonna be pristine white. With a bit blue.
As much as I would like a complete clone I want something more original and to stand out from the crowd a bit so probably not white and blue on this one.
@@carthageclassiccars respect brother.
But more important… have fun restoring your pride and joy!
I have to react.
I work harder now to have a repair shop just like you.
I had a Firebird’69 convertible once.
I fucked up and that bird flew.
No more.
I am really sorry to hear about that firebird, thanks for the comment!
Hi Rick, I only just found your channel and was wondering how you got into doing restoration work for a living and decided to open your own shop. I am currently working as an auto body technician / painter. Been doing this for just over 2 years, and would like to do more restoration work and less collission repair. There arent any specialised restoration shops in my area so I feel like opening my own shop at some point is the only way to make this happen. I can't help but wonder what your story is and how you got to this point. Maybe it could be some inspiration for me and others.
Love the content, keep it up!
Thanks a lot for checking out the stuff and the interest and comment. So long story shortened down is I have been lucky to grow up around hot rodders and car restorers. Most of all my friends my entire life were into these cars so in general we messed each others cars up for many of years before people would pay me to work on them. I had to learn a lot of the welding and fabrication stuff when I started on racing dirt track cars building and fixing my own stuff. That evolved to small fabrication jobs on the side to my real job on nights and weekends and big restoration jobs either taking a loss on flipping a car or restoring friends cars for a fraction of what it really cost. Basically with my shop I did two jobs for a long time until the shop started taking off and it was a safe play but was at that point established spending most of my time already doing the car stuff full time on nights/ weekends. Lots of hard work putting in long hours and expect to at first not really make any money on jobs or small profits until you can convince people to give your their beloved car. Good luck with your journey on starting a shop right now it seems to be in high demand.
Thanks a lot, no doubt it takes many years and hard to master these skills and build a reputation. I have a lot of respect for that. I plan to restore a few classic cars of my own first, and try to learn as much as possible in the process. Hopefully after that I'll be comfortable taking on some paid work, starting with some small jobs on the side. Thanks again for sharing your story.
Killer 😊
Thanks!
How long is your wait list?
Send me an email and we can discuss privately.
Rick how many employees do you employ?
I have someone I can call if I need extra help but currently I do not employ anyone else full time.
One man show!! Amazing!! That’s one way to control quality. Keep up the great work. One question though where are the Fastback Mustangs?
@@curtsgarage4009 I got at least one in the works so hang in there. Actually if I was filming 5 years ago the garage was mostly mustangs.
E coating of the entire body?
I am sorry I don't understand the question. Most of the cars when they leave the shop have the e coating stripped down and OMNI Epoxy primer in its place. Epoxy primer is far superior in every way then the foreign e coat, the base for all bodywork and paint. Some of the cars you see with the e-coat still on them are still in the building phase and will have it removed at the end of the build.
@@carthageclassiccars I was watching one of the stripping channels and they mention some of the cars went to a separate facility to be E-coated.
@@johnglave7958 Not sure how other shops do it, however I usually take care of the stripping and rust preventative coating in house.
@@carthageclassiccars I understand that from an exterior sheet metal perspective, but on a cost is no object job. Isn't there a benefit to having all the interior welds, seams and joints e-coated?
@@johnglave7958 E coat is not actually epoxy there is a difference. E coat is a process of almost like applying powdercoat with electrolysis to apply but without the durability. On most of my builds If the owner will allow I will da sand most of the interior e coat off best I can or we sandblast inner structure then right after on all structure surfaces inside and outside coat the entire build with epoxy which in my opinion is far superior. So yea I agree I try and suggest to the owners we seal this car in every aspect that we can with quality epoxy to prevent any rust from coming in the future. Most of the time I will even spray it in rockers and frame rails I can not actually see just to get it in there.
