Have you ever heard of using the thoracic spine before for a better golf swing?? 🔑🌪 *Milo's 5 KEYS to a Rotational Golf Swing: milolinesgolf.com/5-keys-to-unlocking-a-rotational-golf-swing/
This is pure gold. This is the missing piece of the puzzle that explains how pro's get into that classic impact position while the rest of us think how do they do that. The tape on the back really drove it home for me. I expect to see a stack of other youtube golf creators suddenly doing videos like this. Does anyone else feel like a little bit of air is being squeezed out of the lungs when doing this (or maybe that's just me)?
This is fabulous! Had been reading a lot of Kelvin Miyahira, who was very enlightening to many of us and whom I still very much admire. He was the first I came across mentioning, sacrum move and right side bend. But Kelvin's content is highly sophisticated, and as well as Homer, requires a lot of deciphering and interpretation. This video is hugely helpful and valuable. Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching and glad you enjoyed this one with our friends from Elite! ...If I can ever be of further help to you in learning to Swing Like an Athlete, please do check out my website at milolinesgolf.com for in-person or online lessons, golf schools, or to become a member of my Online Academy.
Another winning video - I watch many of your videos multiple times, not because I don't "get it" the first time [because the visuals and explanations are SO GOOD], but to just get those visuals and explanations really ingrained so they translate into the "feels" I need when I practice and play. Thank you gentlemen!
I'm curious if either Milo's team or the Elite Golf Schools team has connections or recommendations for lessons based on these principles in the Madison, WI area? I'd greatly appreciate any information or like-minded teachers to contact.
I watch a ton of these youtube videos (probably too much), but I rarely see anything where the old light bulb goes off. This one was one of them. I've actually built the right ribcase sway position right into my address. Great insight!
So looking at the heart down move and this video. If you move down and towards the target is this rib mood a cause or effect. Is is a free move or something to practice
A touring pro at an indoor range once said to me „just feel like your latissimus is pulling down and back“ - didn’t understand it at the time, but now realized that this intention will utilize ribcage sway. You get forward lowpoint, negative attack angle and massive power all in one bundle with one simple swing thought.
More great advice I can try in 30 seconds because of Milo's earlier great advice: practice into a net! No paying for range balls, and with my launch monitor, can instantly see the real effects of different variables or swing thoughts. Thinking of this stretch with some 7 irons in my slippers gave me very consistent contact and distances just 3 to 5 % less than my all-time record. Because swaying is such a swing killer for ams like me, this feels like it allows more stretching and range of motion without my center mass straying ouside my hips - which makes it feel like autopilot to get my weight to the front leg and open up on balance, a long-term flaw. Looking to marry this with key match-ups from my online Milo lessons, which already raised my carry distances to where I'm making half my bogies over greens instead of short.
So it almost feels like a more Shakira move? The sacrum falls backwards and rotates open and the forward pressure is achieved by this ribcage sway to get that "hips don't lie" feel?
Instantly more solid contact! and for some reason improved my pitching! once i grasped it as a load and fire move and altered my sequencing hit one of my longest carries ever,230! dont laugh im 62! no birdies but im going to stick with it as it feels so solid
Great content as always! I'm curious if either Milo's team or the Elite Golf Schools team has connections or recommendations for lessons based on these principles in the Madison, WI area? I'd greatly appreciate any information or like-minded teachers to contact.
Although old ive always been an over rotator./turner/coiler on the backswing so think rib sway is going to be the way to go!risky as im scoring well at the moment! PS does Rocco overdo this maybe with no sacrum move
Instantly more solid contact! and for some reason improved my pitching! once i grasped it as a load and fire move and altered my sequencing hit one of my longest carries ever,230! dont laugh im 62! no birdies but im going to stick with it as it feels so solid.
Have to tell you this works really well. For one thing it's almost impossible to come over the top. Second it sets you up for the downswing so cleanly all you have to do is turn and burn. Finally, it is athletic. I played hockey growing up and this feels very similar. Well, without hockey skates lol...
On another video from Eric Cogorno one comment was about how ice hockey players need to learn this move to keep the puck from rising and hitting ppl in the head :D
In his 1990 classic, The Hogan Manual of Human Performance: GOLF, Gerry Hogan wrote "fart behind the left heel". Every great ball striker had that position.
The hardest part for me is when coming into impact is having the pressure shift forward but yet keeping your head behind the ball at the moment of the strike.
My one swing thought right now is "pressure shift forward, head behind the ball". Helps for me to look behind the ball about an inch and try my best to keep it there throughout the swing until it comes up naturally. Definitely helps me stay in posture, release the club in front of me
@@piazzaj88 Yes that is my thought but when I shift and rotate my hips it's hard to keep my head steady behind the ball without it moving forward with my hips and I know you're supposed to have right side then but I don't want to hang back
@@rackum44 I've been in a similar spot. What helped me a ton was thinking about shifting the pressure left before any rotation happens. Keep your back to the target as you shift left, then you can rotate hard through the ball because you're in a good position. If you're spinning your hips too early, its so easy to come over the top and your head will move too
So, isn’t this moving us off the ball in the takeaway? I thought we were trying to stay centered to hit irons flush. One more thing, I still haven’t figured out the dropping lower move in your downswing. It looks like a lot of hand-eye coordination which generally comes natural to athletic types with baseball, tennis hockey backgrounds but is hard on everyone else.. Otherwise, really enjoying the content.
It’s hard because most people want to power hard from the top with hands and arms. We coach how to use them more dynamically. And a little movement isn’t bad as long as we convert it to turn. Their will be less sway with shorter clubs though, yes.
I'm 66 and have L5-S1 lower back issues, so hoping getting the correct side bend more through thoracic spine will help me. My first tries, concentrating just on bending at the mid-back, felt smooth and effortless, no strain at all.

Wow! So excited to try it. Makes total sense. Milo, does this apply to driver as well?
Yes, but there isn't as much stacking or left pressure. Upper center tends to be a bit more back.
Thanks!
So looking at the heart down move and this video. If you move down and towards the target is this rib mood a cause or effect. Is is a free move or something to practice
Just tried this and can already feel the difference in my back. Could be a game changer.
Good to hear Jason, if I can be of further help please let me know.
Great Information - I love the information sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
Very helpful tip. I just found this very difficult with a driver if you can help with this
Interesting.. have the issue to fall back as well.. i will try your concept and let you know 😊
Please do!
This is all Kelvin Miyahira knowledge. The side bend and micro moves.
He was ahead of his time in many ways
Another great video Milo. I really appreciate all your content it has helped my game tremendously.😊
Happy to help!

Very cool
are you guys saying turn the chest and the upper spine to help move the arms up and down?
Thank you for sharing, may I ask what is a good drill
There are some good ones on the website Peter. F1
Really great. Reminds me of Kelvin Mirahawa...move like a reptile.
👊
I think it was called spine engine theory.
can this rib sway be done at setup to trying to get back there on the downswing?
Like a forward rib sway? Typically I like fairly neutral at setup to maybe a hair of right side bend depending on the club.
Such a great breakdown. When does the sway back to the lead side start/complete? Is it kind of p3 to p5 w/ sway completed at landing?
Yes sir!
Great stuff!!!!!! Technical but not over the top, so understandable. May have to jump aboard your program.
Here to help! Thanks Doug. milolinesgolf.com

Unfortunately we have no one in that area at this time, but you can certainly work with me or my team online at milolinesgolf.com
Revisited this, shot 72 best round of year,2 rimmers stopped me getting 5 birdies in a row! and im 63yo!
with the rib sway it looks like the head is not staying centered?
The head tends to move a bit, but with proper bends it will stay more relatively centered. It also will tend to move up and down.
Although old ive always been an over rotator./turner/coiler on the backswing so think rib sway is going to be the way to go!risky as im scoring well at the moment!

Thanks Stuart
Mike Austin describes this move as "ringing the bell" with the hips to begin the backswing.
9:00-9:17 is the golden nugget.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting.
Interesting can have many meanings, what's yours here?
@@MiloLinesGolf It's a truly unique thought and idea that have never heard before. Offsetting the trunk from the hips is very interesting.
Very interesting
Interesting has many meanings, do I need to help clear anything up?
Big ups to Miyahira!
He was way ahead of his time with a lot of his ideas for sure.

@@MiloLinesGolf yup, and thank you for the solid content. Would love to see more on this move, i’ve watched this video probably 10x
The hardest part for me is when coming into impact is having the pressure shift forward but yet keeping your head behind the ball at the moment of the strike.
Sounds like you are drifting too much, perhaps pushing too late off your lead side? Something like the Downshift Board could help. I'd need to see.

I've seen many senior golfers be able to make this move by incorporating more thoracic movement vs lumbar.
