Yeah, those are the 2 REAL winners for me too. I wouldn't be caught dead without either one. They are just a must for any collection, especially at those prices!
Many thanks! My wife and I were walking along the streets of Vegas Saturday night at around 1 in the morning and my wife told me for the first time that she was glad that I had it too. Said that it made me look tougher. LOL She thought that my facial hair would somehow protect her. I enjoy the fuzzy look too.
Exactly! You see the light! lol Thanks for sitting through it. If there's ever anything that you would like me to demonstrate, let me know. As long as I own the gear to do it, I'll post it.
1000000% It is PERFECT on every single one of them. I have 3 of them at the moment and have had a dozen or more and have played even more of them and they are dead on my friend. NOTHING better on the market.
Awesome. They play great. Every bit as good as they sound. The Peavey has a "Smith Era Strat" style of a neck. So, really thin, but standard width. The PRS is fat, but not over done like a 50's Les Paul is. The Washburn has that MAJOR V shape on the back that you will love or hate, no in between, the Ibanez feels just like most Strats, like an old pair of jeans, very comfortable and familiar.
P-90's sound great. They are noisy though. They have that single coil 60 cycle hum. So, be sure to put the reverse wound one in there so that at least when you have 2 of them on at once, they will be quiet. If you are replacing the humbuckers, then you'll want the P-94's. They will cover the ENTIRE humbucker hole. So, they are a P-90 but with the extra cosmetics on the ring to fit perfectly over an existing humbucker cavinty.
Many thanks David. You are correct. You can have a superb axe for low dough for sure. Hype is all you pay for with the other guitars for sure. Cheers and good luck in your searching! Scott
My pleasure my friend. Yeah, they don't have to feedback and be like they are. If you put REAL pickups in them and stuff the guitar (which most folks do), then they will be fine. I'm with you. All of the Gibson ES axes feel like major toys to me too. I don't see any quality at all in those things. Good luck in your hunt Josh!
Same here. I LOVE THOSE GUITARS! I wish I had invented them. I would be so rich instead of discontinuing them like PRS did. Not that they are hurting for money. lol But damn, what a SUPERB axe.
Hey GroovyDude... I've only been playing 3 months and I'm learning my 1st song thanks to the confidence in myself that came from folks like you. Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge. You're Groovy!
Yeah, the Peavey guitars from the "T" series are the most under rated guitars EVER. They are amazing in every possible way. Give one a try next time you see one. They are just way, way, and did I mention WAY too cool!
Hi Josh my friend. There are simply 2 things that kill me about them. One is that they are ALMOST always just HUGE GUITARS. I hate huge guitars unless they are just acoustic guitars. The other thing is the plain and simple truth that they are going to use microphonic pickups in them to try to pick up the sound of the inside of the guitar. Of course, all that leads to is TONS, and TONS of unwanted feedback. That's it. Nothing else. I like the "F" hole look on the Telecasters etc. But, solid.
Rewatching some Scott videos today. Another one to check, via Scott's recommendation, is the peavey predator USA. Picked one up for $75 on ebay. The moron spray painted nicks and oversprayed everywhere. Nothing a razor didn't or couldn't take off. Looks great, plays great, sounds great and $75. Usually $175 locally or about 200 on ebay. Thanks as always, Scott!
over 2 years later.... can still comment! :D love this review! Thanks so much, seeing this was amazing. Great job not mudding them up or anything, just super clean!
Damn saw this video late, Here are my picks in order of my liking: Guitar 4 Guitar 2 Guitar 3 Guitar 1 Just now saw the answers: I DIG that Peavey. I just played a Fender classic player 60's somethin' or other, and liked it. The feel of it was great and the pickups were also to my liking. But at 700 bucks, I have to really think about it. These treasures here are worth checking out without playing, especially for the money.
Thanks for the review Scott. Really good to know what affordable guitars are out there that actually sound and play well. I have never been convinced that you have to clean your bank account out to find a decent guitar. I have never been into hyped up guitars my hands and ears tell me what I like. I will have to check out some of the guitars you showcased here. I appreciate your honesty and straightforward approach to guitars.
Yamaha makes some great guitars. The Pacifica series is a very broad range of guitars and quality and no quality. Their Japanese high end Pacificas are amazing where as their inexpensive Pacifica guitars are not even made by Yamaha, they just have the decal on them and they are horrible. So, you really have to be careful when looking at them. It's kind of asking what a Fender is like. They can be great and they can be the worst guitar made, just depends on getting the GREAT ones and avoid junk.
Awesome, man! See...I knew I'd get an awesome opinion...I can't stand it when people just say "Oh...I just hate the guitar"...you're too learned for an answer like that! And with that, I couldn't be happier...thanks for answering! I'm just, unfortunately, a sucker for the Eddie Cochran Gretsch..ever since I saw that man wield one of them...he just totally rocked it! Though, I must admit..I was fiddling with an ES-335 Dot and it felt cheap...Once again man, your responses make my day! - Josh
Looks like I picked the PRS as #1 for me. The shootout videos are great, you can , without any bias, pick your favorite guitar. I bet if I seen the guitars as they were being played I would of chosen the Peavey first then the PRS. The PRS is definitely a great sounding guitar.
Man you are a hoot...I am 64,played in garage bands when i was 14....still play today and as bad LOL....I have 2 fenders, marshall tube amp.but I also have a yamaha RGZ 121 fp similar to an old Ibanez and it kiks serious azz....I play it all the time it has one of the best necks out there......I watch all your work on you tube, you are the complete package,so entertaining and pull no punches....by the way my fender has Dimarzio pick ups, and the other has a seymour duncan pearly gate humbucker.....dont know too many fender owners with stock humming pick ups.....keep up the brilliant work Scott...cheers from Sydney Australia...happy New Year and all the best for 2014...........thnx a bunch.....
I picked 4,1,2.3 . I was surprised that number 4 was T-27 peavy. I bought a close to mint condition one a few years ago for dirt water. $150. Now mine come in a old fender tolex instead of the plastic hardcase. It plays good, but I have fat fingers. I should play it more often. I have an older 80s vintage rg440 with FR. Its a bad ass metal guitar.
Keep up the reviews at first I thought this sucks. After sifting through all the B S I'm getting it. Appreciate the work keep it coming. The learnig curve goes up and the price of equipment goes down. Value a great prices. In the music world you don't always get what you pay for!
Nope, I'll never break a neck doing that. The trems don't and won't stay in tune and bending the neck will come back in tune every time. People have been doing this for 60 years. It's a proven way to get it done right. Use a bolt on neck and bend that puppy all day long.
now I have to buy four more I told you bought several. one thing is I have that fender in a squire standard. came from the same pawn shop as the squire pro black. which I called fender make 96 97 98 and only 1500. I can't seem to find anything about the sparkle silver squire standard.
They all do sound really good....as good as any Strats!!!! All the brand snobs dont know what they are missing out on, but that is good in a way, as it helps keep the price of those guitars low.
You used your forarm for most of the bend. You push the neck with your wrist and forarm. and then you take you hand that you pick with and push the top of the body toward you. by the strap button. But you don't want to do it to hard though.
the squire silver sparkle might be a Mars music one also then. big silver flakes. three or five mm clear coat. very lovely. I saw a westone last week. have to go look again now
Groovy Music Lessons Scott. hi. I cross posted. what I meant was that i acquired one of these silver flakes squire standard from the pawn shop the same time I got the squire pro tone black and white 1500 copy guitar made from 96 97 98. I remember you said yours was a usa model. mine has the same flakes. big shiny and the body coating is over a millimeter thick. so if the same thinking goes this might be a Mars music exclusive as well and not many copies. I did have a red sparkle strat copies low that was from Mars. it came in green and red. I got the red one. it's long gone. my first time trying to learn to play. so with that being said I have learned more from you in the last two weeks than I ever did. down to earth and sincere. qualities hard to find and we'll received. I want to do a guitar artwork for you as I do image work. please get ahold of me. private message or something or reply with your email and we can begin a few emails. I have done image work as long as you have played. so I will say it like you did. I know my image work stuff and you will love the artwork. a way of sharing and giving back to a true heartfelt and caring person as yourself. thanks
Great vid! .Knew there had to be a Peavey in there. When I hit the Pawn shops I hope I'll be lucky and find another old Peavey hidden among the other guitars on the rack. Picked up a USA maple neck Predator for $90 bucks!
hi scott i use to be guitarded until i was enightend by you,i love all the videos youve made.my question is what do you think of the classic vibe by squier, i like the fifties series because of the shape of the body. i dont have alot of money to spend on a guitar.but if its a waste on this peticular one please let me know , i trust your knowledge on guitars thank you fot your time and thank you for your videos
Hellow Anthony my friend and thank you so much! I don't get to get out and play any of the new guitars since I don't live anywhere near a music store. I get to go to one about once every few years and it's always a vintage joint. But, I've heard nothing but great things about the Classic Vibe series from people that I actually trust (which aren't many....lol). It seems to be the real deal and everybody around have been grabbing them up. I wouldn't fear buying one at all. I hope that helps in some small way my man. Scott
thanks again scott i look forward to watching you on youtube, ive learned so much about guitars and i appreciate all the knowledge you shared, i ended up buying a squier tele and spent some time setting it up, and of course i learned how to do that by watching you and yes 15 cents flat and it sounds great thank you again!
May I also suggest that you know where Scott has come from and what he has done, the years he has been doing it and the amount of fans and students he has before you state he dont know where your guitar teacher is coming from because mrpieeatingzombies, you didn't do you research on scott which would have taken you 5 minutes to do and would get an idea of where he has come from. Sad thing is, there will always be someone like you not knowing what you are talking about making the comments you do
Hey Scott, Those Peavey guitars are no joke. Alot of those blow high dollar guitars out of the water. Hey I got me a new effect pedal. It's a digitech RP355. I am trying to set up a KISS sound. I can get a marshall amp but I don't really know what setup I need to make it like theres or close to it. It has over 126 amp models on there I can use.
tanks to your videos i got an ibanez roadstar2 for 150e in mint condition, cream with rosewood fretboard awesome guitar, the kid who sold it to me.wants a squier cv 60 or a fender mex,,, tank you scott
Cool Shirt my friend. Hey I wanted to let you know I'm working on a song I know your gonna love. It's a Johnny Cash song and can't wait to do a cover on it. I think it's cool you worked with the Cash Family. I would love to meet them and would have loved to have met Johnny Cash. I really love his music and always have. Take care my friend and can't wait for you to see my cover in a few days on a great Johnny Cash Song.
Hey Scott, hope you don't mind me asking, yet, what is it that you don't like about hollow-body axes? I'm just curious...It's great to hear peoples different perspectives...would much rather a varying perspective than the cliche answers given every-day. Hope you don't mind me asking, mate. Cheers. - Josh.
Hey man, love your shootouts, great sounding guitars! As far as sound goes I totally agree and am also blown away how good these cheaper guitars sound. My eyes have been opened! lol. But, how do they play?
Thanks a lot for the info! Really appreciate it. I was thinking about getting the gibson ones but are they, among other brands, that I should stay away from when making my purchase?
new to you site and i have 2 of your picks the roadstar 135 in blue and the peavey t-27 also t-60 2 t-15 and a t-25 love them all. but id like to know the string you use im new to all of this? will ck out your web site. thanks for your time
Scott! I wanted to know your opinion about p90s and was curious about what you would recommend because I'm planning on replacing the humbuckers in my flying v and I was hoping you had some advice to offer.
P.S I mailed out your packag today. I have a tracking number if you would like to have it. I can give it to you and you can track it. I put on the package DO NOT BEND! Because of the drawing. I also put a drawing that I designed when I was 16 of a guitar. I call it a Talisman. I thought it would be a cool guitar to have made. I thought you would like to see it. and then a real drawing in there for you and a little susprise in there. I sent with it. I had two of them and I wanted you to have one.
you obviously have NOT done your homework when it comes to Scott and his ability to play any genre of music with any type of guitar. May I suggest to you is due your home work before you claim that all Scott does is country. Not only does he do any and all genre and you would know this if you did your homework on Scott, but he has also proved many myths about guitars. I just happen to be a long time student of Scott's who has every video scott has ever done and will continue to put out.
It's BS... PRS sucks ass for discontinuing a good guitar like that. I liked it already from the funky music lick although the others were good too. I wish PRS built more guitars for the SE series. Like an SE 305 or something haha.
Same with everything though. Over hear Skoda cars where the butt of jokes for years...but people worshipped Volkswagen. Now Skoda are made by Volkswagen out of Volkswagen parts. People still don't buy them. Idiots. You're getting a VW for Skoda money,
It most certainly is. This PRS SE EG is my favorite "off the rack" guitar made without having to have a custom guitar built.
Yeah, those are the 2 REAL winners for me too. I wouldn't be caught dead without either one. They are just a must for any collection, especially at those prices!

You can't go wrong with the Peavey. The best undiscovered work horse guitars on the market. Just amazing!
Many thanks David. You are correct. You can have a superb axe for low dough for sure. Hype is all you pay for with the other guitars for sure. Cheers and good luck in your searching!

Dude! You are so welcome and I really do hope you pick up some of these. They are WAY COOL!
I hear you. They make some amazing stuff! I too would love to see some more SE models. I like them as much (more actually) than their USA stuff.

AWESOME. Congratulations. Sweet axe. Yeah, all the kids are all about those new CV Squiers. Go figure. You got a REAL axe!
100% agree with you my friend!
Certainly. I keep ALL of my pickups at the same height. 1/4" off of the pickguard.
Hi Josh my friend. There are simply 2 things that kill me about them. One is that they are ALMOST always just HUGE GUITARS. I hate huge guitars unless they are just acoustic guitars. The Peavey & PRS sounded fantastic. I am definitely adding these two guitars to my must have list. Thanks!

My favorite was the PRS SE EG. Very nice. All of those sounded great for their price.

99% of them without a doubt. Sticker Vanity is a nasty thing.

how do you bend necks? thats pretty cool stuff
Scott! I wanted to know your opinion about p90s and was curious about what you would recommend because I'm planning on replacing the humbuckers in my flying v and I was hoping you had some advice to offer.
What nutter sold your that PRS for $300!? Great buy,
Scott what do you think about a Peavey Raptor Plus EXP? Found one on C list for 90 buck. BTW Do you have family in Indiana?
You know you have too many guitars when you say "Where in the Hell did I ever find this Guitar" @8:05
cool, thanks a lot, awesome trick
and i wonder how many people would still choose the fender based on the name ......
I thought ur favorite guitar was ur groovy Iceman
NO GUITARS WERE HARMED XD
bending necks!?isnt that hazzardous?where's the video for neck bending?ima check...
i like your beard. looks good
you obviously have NOT done your homework when it comes to Scott and his ability to play any genre of music with any type of guitar. May I suggest to you is due your home work before you claim that all Scott does is country. Not only does he do any and all genre and you would know this if you did your homework on Scott, but he has also proved many myths about guitars. I just happen to be a long time student of Scott's who has every video scott has ever done and will continue to put out.
'here' not 'hear' lol. Just woke up
It's BS... PRS sucks ass for discontinuing a good guitar like that. I liked it already from the funky music lick although the others were good too. I wish PRS built more guitars for the SE series. Like an SE 305 or something haha.
Your guitar teacher is a moron.
Same with everything though. Over hear Skoda cars where the butt of jokes for years...but people worshipped Volkswagen. Now Skoda are made by Volkswagen out of Volkswagen parts. People still don't buy them. Idiots. You're getting a VW for Skoda money,
