@@TheGrapevineIndia now that I have your attention, why not just get the 10.5/7 kg LG and do laundry half as many times/week? Wouldn’t that be more convenient? Also, I have enough room for four of these dinosaurs but am looking for an integrated machine so I don’t have to move the damn load from one machine to another…. just more convenient, I didn’t have this option in the US.

    • @TheGrapevineIndia

Hi Anita, thanks 😊 I don’t think that provision is there - it needs to connect to a 15A plug, unless electricity in your house is powered by LPG, may not be possible.

I think the newer Samsung washer dryers are much more energy efficient. I have WD90T654DBX 9Kg/6Kg. According to the smart things app It consumes just around 3kwh per (wash + dry) 1hr wash + 2hr dry. Not sure about the electicity bill increase as its just been 2 weeks.

Three units for a wash and dry sounds about right. It's not about efficiency. Her washer dryer likely consumes similar but she has not used any device to measure the power but quoted directly from the manual. Those figures for some reason are much higher than would be measured by proper meters like the Meco 16A power meter that comes calibrated and is able to measure RMS, unlike smart plugs which should strictly be avoided for this purpose.

  • @nkhilmajgaonkr

Most of the washing machines use .062 to .070 units per kg per wash cycle(offcourse it depends on clothes). For a 8 kg wash cycle it comes to roughly around .5 to .6 units. This was purely for washing machine. However for dryer you have quoted a figure of 7 units and 10 units which looks very very high. It looks like misunderstanding in my opinion, can you please check it again.

2:18 I still don't understand where the figures for 10 units or 7 units come from. Having downloaded the manual for your model and browsed every page it's only on the last page where we see power consumption and the max listed there is 2 units at 220V to wash and dry which sounds about right.

    • @TheGrapevineIndia

Hi Siva! Yes you will find it in the manual. It will be split by wash-rinse/spin-dry cycles. Dry has the highest kwh.

Can you tell us how you measured the power consumption? What device did you use? I find three extra units just for a heated wash to be exorbitant. The most a 60-degree wash takes on my LG is half a unit. That is a wash only btw and the machine was bought in 2016

Innovations are ON , the electricity consumption can be reduced with inverter technology... washer drier is not for India and technology not matured.. it most for the country or geographical area which covered with snow, very cold weather. If you compund the additional electricity bill for 10Years , its a huge money.
I suggest to go for a machine with higher rpm like 1400.

    • @TheGrapevineIndia

Yes! I do use it to steam out comforters or delicate clothes that I may have given for dry cleaning. I also use it at times when I have inadvertently overloaded the machine and clothes don’t dry completely. Then a quick 1 hr air wash (that’s what it’s called in Samsung) does the job of drying.

This is something i never paid attention until now Saumya. But to be true here in TN, the unit cost is quiet low. Some initial units are free(upto 200) and after that we have to pay. With wash cycle for almost daily with AC other what so electronic running, my bill tops maximum 1300 bi monthly. This may not be the case for apartment systems i guess. Is it monthly bill payment over your place Saumya?.

    • @TheGrapevineIndia
      @TheGrapevineIndia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Vigneshwaran, yeah it is monthly billing. And mind you - at my place, we barely use the AC and I only use my washer dryer 2-3 times a week. We don't have that many electricity guzzlers. Inspite of that the bill is so high. :(

Hi Rohit, yes - since majority of the electricity is consumed in the dry cycle - you can expect 30% lower bill. Based on what their cycle time is - it can be calculated.

Hi Aviraaj, With the washer dryer, yes it could increase. Think of it as consuming approximately 7kwh without heating per wash. So if the per unit cost is 8 rupees in your area, per wash cost is about Rs. 56.
