    If you allow Cubase to automatically detect hitpoints (enabled by default), this next macro has served me well when cutting the start of audio events until a clear tranisent has occured:
    Cut until First Hitpoint:
    - Transport - Locate Selection Start
    - Transport - Locate Next Hitpoint
    - Edit - Split at Cursor
    - Edit - Select None
    - Transport - Locate Previous Event
    - Edit - Select Events under Cursor
    - Edit - Delete

    It pairs nicely with the basic yet useful 'Metronome Ready' macro:

    My most used macro - move locators to markers 3 & 9 (start and end of the track, set these manually at the start of each project with 1 bar lead-in/lead-out for exporting), zoom to locators, transport to left locator, deselect events.
    Sets you up for full track playback or export with 1 hotkey

    I'm pretty certain I'm running one of the most advanced macro systems for Cubase out. Hard to pick one favourite. I use them all constantly, daily. But I think one of the coolest ones I made that started me down the rabbit hole was inserting specific plugins in specific slots in my tracks. With beautiful screenshots of the plugins on the Streamdeck representing the macro.

  • @kryonoglou
    @kryonoglou ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Chris. I know already about macros and I was make one to the past (copy paste from Dom Sigalas Video)
    But now after your video, you make me think of it more, and today I make a macro for one of my processes.
    Render MIDI / Disable / Hide
    Transport - Locators to Selection
    Render in Place - Render (with Current Settings)
    Navigate - Up
    Navigate - Down
    Audio - Disable/Enable Track
    Channel & Track Visibility - Agents: Hide Selected Channels/Tracks
    *The events inside the channel must be selected to run this macro.
    *Navigate Up - Down: It make sense if you just use navigate UP to go to the previous channel. But for some reason dosn't work like this. Cubase navigate you 1 more position up. So for this I use down after UP. Without navigate down, cubase will be selected one channel up from the midi you have choose.
    *Reason to do this: MIDI mixing is very hard for computer and use a lot of cpu and etc (Processing Overload Problem). So if you will Change the MIDI to AUDIO you will get more Processing Power.
    *This method doesn't work properly on Groove Agent VST. If you try it on groove agent for some reason disable & mute the next one (of midi) channel and not the MIDI.
    I believe this happening because has multi channel rendering. So if I am right this method with this specific commands works only if your midi rendering to one channel. Not multi. I hope someone to find a solution maybe with differend commands or something.

    I have a macro set up for speeding up my workflow when editing vocals (or anything, really..) in variaudio.
    I select the event I want to edit and hit the macro (I set it to "V" - for Variaudio)
    The macro opens up the audio editor, choses variaudio and selects everything.

      You can't download the macros, you need to reproduce them in your Cubase.

    • @LondonSteveLee
      @LondonSteveLee ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mixdownonline Not true. Macros are housed in a single XML (text) file called "Key Commands.XML" you can copy that file and replace your default one (if you have no saved macros) or cut and paste individual XML structures within it (if you understand XML) using notepad - which is straightforward enough - it's just a tree-style hierarchical format. There are XML editors out there that will make this job even easier. So all you have to do is post your "Key Commands.XML" file and you will be publishing all of your macros. Obviously back these files up before mucking around with them.

    Hi Chris, I love your reversed reverb macro but I face a problem with it. Everytime when I start up a project the macro is still there but it removed the part to insert the reverb plugin. So it only shows revert, revert as the last "3" steps. Actually 2 because it removes the one in between. When I add any verb it will remember it the whole project untill I close it down and open up a new project. I keep on saving the macro but for some reason only that command will be deleted every time. I run Cubase 12 pro on Windows 10 pro and the problem already occured with Cubase 11 pro. I have tried it with stock plugins and 3rd party also with delays but the same problem occurs. Would be great if you can solve this. Thanks! Greetz Vinnie from The Netherlands.

    • @andrewmilstead7196
      @andrewmilstead7196 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I had to take a stab in the dark I'd say it's due to your mouse not being subject to velocity sensitivity. I can see the patches seeming brighter/darker being even more pronounced on patches that the velocity controls the filter cutoff.

    • @captroy7721

      @@andrewmilstead7196Thanks Andrew, sorry I now realized that the Halion SE free version comes with reduced sound funtionality. So I guess I wll have to get the paid version to get that nice, loud & bright sound:
      HALion Sonic SE: A free version of HALion Sonic (also included with all versions of Cubase), with a smaller sample library and reduced sound synthesis functionality. HALion Sonic: A version of HALion with reduced functionality. For example, it does not include custom macro and sampling features.

    • @ggmanestraki
      @ggmanestraki ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Halion Sonic SE that comes bundled with Cubase offers less features than the full, paid version, however what you're describing here @Capt Roy is your MIDI keyboard not being able to produce very loud dynamics. It also depends on where you click with the mouse. If you click to the edge of the keys on the virtual piano keyboard (to the bottom) it plays loud. If you click to the top (towards the knob section), it plays soft.
      If you find that you cannot attain the same range of dynamics with your keyboard no matter how hard or softly you hit the keys, maybe you need to adjust its velocity sensitivity curve.

    Favorite macro I use all day long is to select an event and surround it with locators put in cycle and go to left locator. I made a key command i placed on a controller and I hit this and bam I am ready to record a selection that I want to change or add more to in a song. Recipe for this is "zoom to selection Horizontally - locators to selection - got to left locator - cycle". Another fast thing I have is delete all muted events to clean up a finished song. I would love a shortcut to turn ever red clip through the who program. Its easy to have multiple things on a track and though your not in the red, you may pull someone up to test a sound and it clips, thus the compressor the eq etc all clip and you have to un click the red meters in each divide... totally annoying.

      The "Red" is part of the game ;-)

      Yes. But a shortcut is well overdue for a program like cubase which I first got into way back at 6.5. Plus wee niggling distraction like red clips as you know if in stereo, you don't click one you have to click on both to turn one or the other and that annoyance can throw you off your game. You can reset the levels mine is shift # key but it doesn't reset the clips...

    Studio one macro's are the best and easiest. Glad I ported from Cubase.

      former S1 user here. Now on Cubase 12 and - very happy. Macros are way better to handle in Cubase. And Cubase's Project Logical Editor is a real weapon. I really hate this several tiny buttons and macro groups under a button in S1. Click click click. NOT a timesaver.

    I need to replace an event with another same size event like what he did in this video:
    th-cam.com/video/BsTzIQx_UyI/w-d-xo.html
    So is it possible with macros? If yes, please let me know how.

      Macros have been there as long as I can remember - and what other DAW has a logical editor like Cubase? It may be a clunky looking DAW but it's feature packed.

    People still use Cubase? I don't know anyone who still uses it. They've moved on to more futuristic, innovative and unique software I.e. like Bitwig. For me, Cubase is way too old and obsolete, and way too much for beginners, and totally uncustomizable compared to Reaper. I have my own custom harmonic system and tracker editor and euclidian editors integrated into Reaper's UI, you can never do anything like that in Cubase and I can't go back to a newbie program like that. I also use Bitwig and the kind of stuff I can make there comes out more unique than anything in Cubase because of modular interdependencies across the whole track. You might think you can't do much with that, but I'm talking about using mind blowing rhythmic harmonic concepts with modular algorithms flowing between everything. Using Cubase is going backwards to the past so that's not an option.

      So Cubase is a newbie program??? LOL! Ok then! Yes, lots of people are using Cubase to produce, record and mix music, and is still ranked higher in popularity above Reaper and Bitwig. Europe is big on Cubase, and the US is big on Pro Tool. But that doesn't matter, all DAWs are good and serve different music production needs, and what matters is that you produce, and release music. You need to work with the best DAW(s) that helps you to release more music. Cubase has been my choice for more than 20 years producing, and mixing music for my clients, and myself. Clearly Cubase is not your DAW of choice, and that's ok. I don't sell Cubase, I help people producing, and mixing music in Cubase. The most important for me is that an artist makes, and releases good music, the tools used to achieve that goal, are not important, as far as I'm concerned.

      I'd like to see someone score a movie in Bitwig. Can it even play video yet?

    • @Byron101_

      Bitwig is more a sounddesign tool, for people who can't compose and can't play an instrument, with it' s loopy-loop-pattern-clip-mode and random modulation stuff. It lags in so many ways... And Reaper is for nerd people with too much time.
      The three kings Pro Tools, Cubase and Logic are still most commonly used today in pro studios. Even if you don't like it.
