The ladder change is most likely done by mistake , otherwise it’s so strange and doesn’t make sense reverting a single ladder in the entire trilogy back to 2D.
But I wonder why? It was better before, even cinematically speaking / screen play wise. So much for preservation. Taking away the mansion dialogue was bad enough.
Most of the changes seem really unnecessary and sort of a downgrade. Making the ladder 2D again? Changing the water color from blue to purple? Moving Larson's gun positin in the cinematic when it fit better there before the update? All unnecessary
I've seen someone playing the game in the Atlantis level where the button indicator would not show up for underwater levers and Lara could apparently not grab it. The player had to revert to OG graphics to fix it.
Only thing I want is level select. Yeah we have the cheats but it’s time consuming. And yeah you can just save at the start of the level but why should we? Especially since you can’t delete individual saves. Should be a basic beat the game unlock

I heard people mentioning water was different, I just thought it was the white surface being the only visible different. Someone on the Tomb Raider Discord pointed out the Golden Mask water in OG Graphics to me.
But why tho ? Did they massed it up by accident ? Why change the water in that specific expansion? I checked my old pc version , the water’s always blue , now this purple color looks really weird.
I have the impression that since patch 3 they haven't fixed anything. More so in this patch 4. Most of the changes are merely aesthetic (the skyboxes look amazing, of course), or simply totally unnecessary, like the position of the pistol in the cutscene with Larson and Lara. What does putting the weapon further from Lara improve? I realise there are no fixes here. And that makes me think that they see nothing more to fix, and they keep releasing patches just to keep the remastered trilogy alive. Nevertheless, the option to select level is still not available.
Not sure if anyone noticed but the raptors are so easy to kill now with Laras dual pistols They had more Health in original game And previous patches I hope they fix that It makes the game to easy
There’s an issue with the inventory in Tomb Raider I-III Remastered. When you jump, roll, draw the pistols, or simply press the button to walk forward and then immediately open the inventory, after closing it, the inventory reopens instantly, even without pressing any button. This issue is currently happening with patch 4 and was already present with patch 3 😢 I sincerely hope this bug will be fixed as soon as possible.
@@TheGameBreakersUK It’s true, it happened more often with patch 3, but with patch 4 it still happens to me quite frequently, especially during fights with enemies when I open the inventory to use a medkit or switch weapons.

Hearing the Lara NO sound in my mother language (italian) for the first time in 25 years was a bit weird 😂 for some reason Italian versions of classics tr has the English NO sound. I never know it would exist in other languages. How the team find out about it??
For the french version, I think they used a time in TR4 og when Lara say no in the game language during a cutscene, maybe they cut a similar moment in the italian version ?
It was always the same in the German version. What a weird "fix". The "Nein" is spoken by her TR III voice actress, whom is different from the one in TR I and II. This and the higher audio quality compared to the English "No" makes it stand out in a rather bad way. IMO this wasn't really a bug as Lara has always said the English "No" in the original versions of these games. There weren't even voice samples for the other languages in the original game files, save for the French "Non".
I'm sorry but despite loving the classics and I've bought this and the next remastered these things are unacceptable The game must be done and polished and ready in it's full potential at day 1. I'm so tired of having to wait months and months and months just for small details changes
I think it's absolutely ludicrous there is still no chapter select. With all the missables in the game, I want to enjoy the game at my own pace and then go back via chapter select and get everything I missed. I shouldn't have to follow a guide immediately when playing.
@@zachboardman736 agreed... apparently there is a trick that allows you to come back to any level if you save each level separately.. have you heard of this trick?
@dadou193 I have but I really dislike this idea as I may as well look up a guide immediately when playing because if I go back for a collectable/missable kill, the counter will be at zero again meaning the ones I already picked up on my first playthrough doesn't mean anything. So you will have to re do every mission 100% in one go. Seems like a right headache 🤷♂️

I was actually going to include this, didn't want to confuse people. The inverted look controls in patch 3 were the same as the Normal look controls in the same patch version. (Look + left stick for controllers) Camera controls (Right stick on controllers) went the opposite way to the look controls. ... In patch 3 the look controls were the same if you had controls inverted or not while the camera controls did actually invert. Patch 4 keeps these camera controls the same as in patch 3 but remedies the Look controls so they are now opposite when inverted.
This is for tank controls, right? Someone posted about it in the Steam forums and I looked into it since I don't usually use a controller. I don't think the developers understood the issue here because the patch notes are worded in a way that suggests they seemed to think the inverted option didn't affect the look function, when in reality the look function was always inverted, and the option to invert only affected the standard camera. Because of this misunderstanding they've made things even worse, by flipping the axis for the look function when the inverted option is selected, which means if the camera controls are inverted, the look function no longer is. Then when the inverted option is off, the standard camera isn't inverted, but the look function still is like it was before. So instead of fixing it for standard users, which is what the real issue was, they've now broken it for both standard and inverted users.
the "no" change is fine, like in english we still have it, but do other countries really need their own version?, i dont understand why patch 3 had a 3D ladder, then patch 4 made it 2D, remastered is suppose to have better textures not mix them together, shouldnt have OG textures while in remastered style, looks so out of place.
good to point out the Crystal dynamics Join page shouldn't exist and how to remove it, Crystal Dynamics never wanted to make this tomb raider game, they believe making old tomb raider games is a sin like its illegal, and yet they want people who play the remastered to join THEIR society?? thats basically trying to convert old players to only like reboot tomb raider. could say that stupid join screen is just putting Crystal Dynamics name and join their side on something they didnt make, they own the rights to tomb raider but they didnt make the remastered, if they did they would only fack it all up.

@lordmathias1094 Aspyr made the remasters and they're released under Crystal cuz they hold the rights to the franchise now under Embracer. Aspyr also said Crysal assisted them in making the remasters, this why their names are there in this updated newly published product. They didn't grab old releases of the games and plastered their names there.
Why can't these developers just give us the options to change the graphics on how we want it to look instead of updating it while not pleasing everyone?

4:25 This has to be the most disappointing change. Egypt Unfinished business skybox now loses what used to be an endless atmospheric gaze into the sky. The original graphics achieved this illusion. The Remastered maintained this to a good degree. The update lost it completely. Mountains also ruins contrast to the cat statue in the Temple of the Cat level along with the distant faux pyramids, now appearing smaller than intended (it is also smaller than the mountains).
Just to make you aware I brightened up that skybox in the video - as there is a black band around the top of it that doesn't appear on other skyboxes, it can be hard to see though without brightening it up
@ strange, I thought I replied to this already. But yes, I’m aware of what you meant though my use of “contrast” wasn’t regarding what you demonstrated, which I think you’ve misunderstood. I literally meant it for what I described from experience. There are fake pyramids in the background, noticed on the “Return to Egypt” level before it ends. They now literally appear smaller than intended due to the larger mountains behind them, hence making the pyramids deem smaller, therefore losing that element of contrast with it blending in the illusion of it looking real. The cat statue was regarding the next level at the beginning, standing on the corner of the pyramid and the one at the end before the level is completed. The dark mountains with the cats reduces the contrast on the cat statues to a negative degree. The previous skybox otherwise had no issue with what I just described.
Yeh tbh I preferred the skyboxes BEFORE the updates, especially for TR1Gold and the manors. The only skybox I wanted them to change was the Kingdom one to make it more similar to the OG.The purple water in TR2 Gold classic is annoying too. :S

If you were on a console it was a small revert of this patch being released early or the update of some of the game information. It wasn't really a patch.
@TheGameBreakersUK The shotgun was visible in the remastered graphics of "Home Sweet Home" You only couldn't view it in the classic look. I don't know why they completely removed it?
I just bought the game recently on Black Friday PS5 and I must say, where the hell is BRIGHTNESS settings. Game on new graphics is dark as hell and cant see sh1t. LOL If you have already talk about it, place a link to video, where you explained it. Thank you.

The explanation for Crystal Dynamics having no interest whatsoever in classic Lara Croft dates back to 2004, when Eidos transferred the development of the next Tomb Raider to them. I'm so used to her saying "No!" in all languages, that her German "Nein!" since the fix feels immersion- / nostalgia-breaking to me... 😂 On a different note: why the bloody hell would they remove the pew pew stick on the floor in the beginning of the cutscene with Larson?
Tbh im still annoyed af that some textures are 3d while others in the same levels are 2d, its half a**ed to me, for example im currently playing tomb raider 3, Nevada level, and theres a wooden building where you turn off the electric fence thats got 3d walls...there not paper thin, but the garage right next to it with the quad bike is still paper thin despite it being the exact same wooden panel walls

Are you sure about that? I played NG+ on patch 4 and the kayak feels easier to control, and a few other people I've talked to felt like it was easier as well. For example, I could get the crystal every time when backing down the slope from the kayak's starting point, but I recall when I first played (patch 2) I took quite a few attempts to do that. Most likely I got better but the difference felt more than that. Similarly later on when there's two different paths after taking the slope beyond the blade traps, before it was very difficult to swim against the current pulling the kayak to the left, whereas now it's possible to recover to the right path even if the kayak is almost on the slope of the left path.
I was the one who made Aspyr and Saber notice the Larson's gun mistake in the cutscene at the end of Tomb of Qualopec's level! I'm glad they changed, although now the gun isn't visible in the 1st shot as it was in the og cutscene

For PC gamers who want the original graphics, I recommend the TR1X and TR2X projects, which have some nice graphical and UI upgrades over the Remastered versios. Basically it's OG Tomb Raider with widescreen and customizable draw distance that runs smooth as butter :D
I don't get why they localized the "No!" in italian, I am italian and NO is NO in italian too, i grew up with that iconic "No!"... That's sad.😢 It doesn't even match Elda Olivieri's voice, which is her italian voice. It sounds like google translate or AI (i'm pretty sure they used AI).

Aspyr & chrystal dynamics had almost nothing to do with this game. They love taking the credit but it belongs to Sabre. They are also the people behind legacy of kain remake. Remember this is possible because of Sabre. Don't give credit to those who have done nothing to deserve it. If Sabre wasn't involved with legacy of kain then it would be destroyed by those other 2. Sabre is supposedly made up of superfans so that is nice to hear.
And now let's switch the language over to Italian and see what happens when Lara tries to open a door without the key: "...That I cannot do." Yep, seems like a great patch!
I waited 3 quarters of a year to buy this collection and it still has a bunch of weird issues like in this video (and others I've seen). My purchase is being delivered this week, but it seems I should have waited longer (even though not even 90% of these issues ever had a chance of being fixed). All I've ever wanted was something at least virtually identical to the polish of the original games. I didn't want to be gaslighted too much playing these ports of the game, but the money has already been spent...

Square Enix sold Crystal Dynamics to Embracer Group in 2022 which also means Embracer owns the ip to Tomber Raider and if they wanted to Embracer can completely shutdown Crystal Dynamics, Embracer will take a hit financially but they will recover and would be worth it. Crystal Dynamics has to go or at least remove Crystal Dynamics from Tomb Raider entirely they was never fans of the franchise Crystal Dynamics made it a mission to ruin Tomb Raider for all of us so if i was Embracer I'll drop the hammer down on Crystal Dynamics now but i'll be nice and put those fake Tomb Raider fans out of a job after the holidays

In my opinion, the most disappointing update is the inability to switch to photography mode during the opening sessions of certain remote locations. 😢
If you mean cutscenes, Then if you are on PC use -dev in steams launch options and you can free cam around within the cutscene.

I want to see them do a continuous block push animation like in revelation. That would be a huge improvement in gameplay

... In patch 3 the look controls were the same if you had controls inverted or not while the camera controls did actually invert.
Patch 4 keeps these camera controls the same as in patch 3 but remedies the Look controls so they are now opposite when inverted.
This is for tank controls, right? Someone posted about it in the Steam forums and I looked into it since I don't usually use a controller. I don't think the developers understood the issue here because the patch notes are worded in a way that suggests they seemed to think the inverted option didn't affect the look function, when in reality the look function was always inverted, and the option to invert only affected the standard camera.
Because of this misunderstanding they've made things even worse, by flipping the axis for the look function when the inverted option is selected, which means if the camera controls are inverted, the look function no longer is. Then when the inverted option is off, the standard camera isn't inverted, but the look function still is like it was before. So instead of fixing it for standard users, which is what the real issue was, they've now broken it for both standard and inverted users.
Localising Lara's iconic NO - i think this is too much. And reverting 3d objects to flat too. It's time to stop patching
the "no" change is fine, like in english we still have it, but do other countries really need their own version?, i dont understand why patch 3 had a 3D ladder, then patch 4 made it 2D, remastered is suppose to have better textures not mix them together, shouldnt have OG textures while in remastered style, looks so out of place.
The 2D ladder is probably a mistake, a case of something added in a previous patch not being carried over to the next. Often happens.

good to point out the Crystal dynamics Join page shouldn't exist and how to remove it, Crystal Dynamics never wanted to make this tomb raider game, they believe making old tomb raider games is a sin like its illegal, and yet they want people who play the remastered to join THEIR society?? thats basically trying to convert old players to only like reboot tomb raider.
could say that stupid join screen is just putting Crystal Dynamics name and join their side on something they didnt make, they own the rights to tomb raider but they didnt make the remastered, if they did they would only fack it all up.
It's just a newsletter, which include news of anything TR, INCLUDING the next remasters... no one is trying to convert you to anything. Some of y'all can be so dramatic.

@lordmathias1094 Aspyr made the remasters and they're released under Crystal cuz they hold the rights to the franchise now under Embracer. Aspyr also said Crysal assisted them in making the remasters, this why their names are there in this updated newly published product. They didn't grab old releases of the games and plastered their names there.
Why can't these developers just give us the options to change the graphics on how we want it to look instead of updating it while not pleasing everyone?

4:25 This has to be the most disappointing change. Egypt Unfinished business skybox now loses what used to be an endless atmospheric gaze into the sky. The original graphics achieved this illusion. The Remastered maintained this to a good degree. The update lost it completely. Mountains also ruins contrast to the cat statue in the Temple of the Cat level along with the distant faux pyramids, now appearing smaller than intended (it is also smaller than the mountains).
Just to make you aware I brightened up that skybox in the video - as there is a black band around the top of it that doesn't appear on other skyboxes, it can be hard to see though without brightening it up
@ strange, I thought I replied to this already. But yes, I’m aware of what you meant though my use of “contrast” wasn’t regarding what you demonstrated, which I think you’ve misunderstood. I literally meant it for what I described from experience. There are fake pyramids in the background, noticed on the “Return to Egypt” level before it ends. They now literally appear smaller than intended due to the larger mountains behind them, hence making the pyramids deem smaller, therefore losing that element of contrast with it blending in the illusion of it looking real. The cat statue was regarding the next level at the beginning, standing on the corner of the pyramid and the one at the end before the level is completed. The dark mountains with the cats reduces the contrast on the cat statues to a negative degree. The previous skybox otherwise had no issue with what I just described.
Yeh tbh I preferred the skyboxes BEFORE the updates, especially for TR1Gold and the manors. The only skybox I wanted them to change was the Kingdom one to make it more similar to the OG.The purple water in TR2 Gold classic is annoying too. :S

If you were on a console it was a small revert of this patch being released early or the update of some of the game information. It wasn't really a patch.
Tomb Raider 2 Home Sweet Home still has an issue with photo mode. The guns are not visible!
You can't get guns in photo mode in any of the home levels. Training or Home sweet home.

I just bought the game recently on Black Friday PS5 and I must say, where the hell is BRIGHTNESS settings. Game on new graphics is dark as hell and cant see sh1t. LOL

What has been changed? At least where i live, germany, the age rating of the game was in patch 3 18+ but after patch 4 the rating sank to 16+

Can someone please explain to me why does Crystal Dynamic hate Tomb Raider? I keep reading comments online about this everywhere.
The explanation for Crystal Dynamics having no interest whatsoever in classic Lara Croft dates back to 2004, when Eidos transferred the development of the next Tomb Raider to them. Despite Core losing its biggest franchise, it managed to get approval from Eidos to develop a remake of Tomb Raider 1 for the PSP, to celebrate Tomb Raider's 10th anniversary. When Crystal Dynamics found out about this project, they put a plan in place to sabotage it: They developed a prototype of their own version of TR1 remake and presented it to Eidos, convincing them to cancel Core's game.
This prototype would become Tomb Raider Anniversary, released in 2007. This move was fatal for Core, which closed its operations soon after. From then on, Crystal Dynamics wanted to create their own version of Lara, they no longer needed to follow anything that Core had previously created. That's why fans have been asking for a remaster of the original games for a long time and Crystal Dynamics refused to do it - simply because those games had nothing to do with them and they tried so hard to erase its legacy. The only reason the remasters exist is because Embraces aquired Eidoes and became the owner of Tomb Raider. The new owners wanted to bring back the classic games, and there was nothing Crystal Dynamics could do, they had to accept it. All they had left to do was put in the remaster that stupid initial message that offends the original creators of the game .

I'll say this, I've played the original games in German when they launched. I'm so used to her saying "No!" in all languages, that her German "Nein!" since the fix feels immersion- / nostalgia-breaking to me... 😂 On a different note: why the bloody hell would they remove the pew pew stick on the floor in the beginning of the cutscene with Larson?
Tbh im still annoyed af that some textures are 3d while others in the same levels are 2d, its half a**ed to me, for example im currently playing tomb raider 3, Nevada level, and theres a wooden building where you turn off the electric fence thats got 3d walls...there not paper thin, but the garage right next to it with the quad bike is still paper thin despite it being the exact same wooden panel walls

Are you sure about that? I played NG+ on patch 4 and the kayak feels easier to control, and a few other people I've talked to felt like it was easier as well.
For example, I could get the crystal every time when backing down the slope from the kayak's starting point, but I recall when I first played (patch 2) I took quite a few attempts to do that. Most likely I got better but the difference felt more than that.
Similarly later on when there's two different paths after taking the slope beyond the blade traps, before it was very difficult to swim against the current pulling the kayak to the left, whereas now it's possible to recover to the right path even if the kayak is almost on the slope of the left path.
So awesome!

Why go back to 2D with the ladder?
I was the one who made Aspyr and Saber notice the Larson's gun mistake in the cutscene at the end of Tomb of Qualopec's level! I'm glad they changed, although now the gun isn't visible in the 1st shot as it was in the og cutscene

For PC gamers who want the original graphics, I recommend the TR1X and TR2X projects, which have some nice graphical and UI upgrades over the Remastered versios. Basically it's OG Tomb Raider with widescreen and customizable draw distance that runs smooth as butter :D
I don't get why they localized the "No!" in italian, I am italian and NO is NO in italian too, i grew up with that iconic "No!"... That's sad.😢

Aspyr & chrystal dynamics had almost nothing to do with this game. They love taking the credit but it belongs to Sabre. They are also the people behind legacy of kain remake. Remember this is possible because of Sabre. Don't give credit to those who have done nothing to deserve it. If Sabre wasn't involved with legacy of kain then it would be destroyed by those other 2. Sabre is supposedly made up of superfans so that is nice to hear.

I waited 3 quarters of a year to buy this collection and it still has a bunch of weird issues like in this video (and others I've seen). My purchase is being delivered this week, but it seems I should have waited longer (even though not even 90% of these issues ever had a chance of being fixed). All I've ever wanted was something at least virtually identical to the polish of the original games. I didn't want to be gaslighted too much playing these ports of the game, but the money has already been spent...

playing it now is better than first release, back then it was trash, bugs, missing stuff, unobtainable trophies, even now the remastered still needs more work, which they won't do, so might as well play it now or not at all.

Square Enix sold Crystal Dynamics to Embracer Group in 2022 which also means Embracer owns the ip to Tomber Raider and if they wanted to Embracer can completely shutdown Crystal Dynamics, Embracer will take a hit financially but they will recover and would be worth it.
Crystal Dynamics has to go or at least remove Crystal Dynamics from Tomb Raider entirely they was never fans of the franchise Crystal Dynamics made it a mission to ruin Tomb Raider for all of us so if i was Embracer I'll drop the hammer down on Crystal Dynamics now but i'll be nice and put those fake Tomb Raider fans out of a job after the holidays
Absolutely. Seeing people defend Crystal Dynamics after everything they've done is honestly ridiculous. They have to go. Otherwise there's really no point following or supporting any new "official TR games" they'll pump out in the future. Fanmade mods and TRLE levels are miles better than whatever the crap they've pumped out over the last few years.
