And in the north western USA as well, although not the "house slippers". In those cases owners and guest either go in barefoot or with their socks on. Usually indicated passively if host has shoes on or off. Depends on layout or condition of their "mud room". The entry area where coats and shoes are stored.
Lots of shoes or dried mud/water or snow means today take off shoes. Same in summer if floor is dry and freshly cleaned. If there are no shoes keep yours on unless host does not. If host has shoes on, then ask to where you place yours. If they show you, take them off. If they say do not worry leave them on.

The money passing part was really cute. The crowded transportation was very similar to the New York City subway. I was raised to bring a gift to someone's home at Christmas or a party etc. There are some cities in the US where the women dress up a lot like here in Dallas and often in the South eastern US generally. Definitely not on the West coast here. I knew a woman from California that was so self conscious about everyone dressing up a bit here that she had to move back to California to be comfortable. Love your videos.

The air temperature in the banya can be very hot so jumping into snow just makes you feel fully refreshed and not cold. The most relaxed a human can be is the result of a long banya session.
