Hi Everyone and Welcome Back to My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing project.
    *Hi everyone!
Time again to use cozy flannel for a top. It's just too cold out. There is lots of ease built into this pattern, but the neck yoke can be a bit tricky if you aren't taking your time and watching the details.
    Hope you like it!
    ~Marie

Don't take it personally I'm a very busy person. If you watch a few of my videos you will see I always use a heat erasable pen, a screw-type leather hole punch to punch the circles out of my tissue paper, and a thick piece of leather to put behind the tissue paper to absorb the back side of the hole punch so I don't damage any fabric. Every time you watch one of my videos you'll see me doing the same thing so maybe if it's a little difficult to figure out the first time the second or third time it'll come easily. 👍

OMG you have been my life saver. It was going so well until I reached the neckband and facing stage. I just couldn't understand the instructions for this part. The diagram for steps 29 flummexed me. My intuition said it should be right sides together but then the diagram looked like it was right side to wrong side and the diagram just did not look like reality. I really thought I was going to have to put this project in a WIP pile until I came across your tutorial. At the time of writing I have basted the neckband to the blouse and confident I can now finish as it just like your blouse. Thank you so so much. I also like your instructions for the hem and will definitely take this forward for future similar makes. I am so grateful to you

I love the way you sew. It is how I was taught, 56 years ago. Where did the time go! I still love sewing. It’s my Superpower. Haha. I have a few questions if you have the time to answer. Can you tell us about your iron, and the attachments? Also, could you tell us about your collection of sewing machines? What are you using to transfer your markings? It’s different than what I’ve ever seen. Were you a Home-Ec teacher?

    • @mybucoliclife

Hello, I have a rapid steam gravity iron from wawak.com that is hanging on an IV pole. I also restore my own sewing machines, and if you're interested look at my other channel that is called Promethean sewing machines. I was never a home ec teacher I just learned by doing like most of us do. And the hole punch and heat erasable pens that I use should have an Amazon Link in my description. I just use the generic pens that come in the bulk packs. If it looks like it's a ballpoint pen that's the style. It seems like they're all made by the same manufacturer no matter what brand it is. A long time ago I didn't about me kind of video probably way back in my catalog if you're interested, but I'm just a normal person in my sewing room talking to a camera 🤣

Another cute top! This looks like a versatile top (adjust the length like you did). The most persnickety part I saw was definitely the neck band, but I really like your idea of basting it first & making sure it's all fine & then going back & stitching by machine. Thanks for all the great tips (as usual)! I live in central Indiana & I agree, the weather has been crazy lately. Thank goodness, we're having a nice warm spell. Can't wait to see what you bring us next!

Very nice. Really love your fabric choice. It's roomy enough to layer for that cold weather. If you wear it with a skirt, as you suggested, it will make its own short, warm slip. I'm wondering if one could construct the whole collar and facing, pressing all outer edges under to match, then place the whole thing over the seam allowance and slipstitching or topstitching it in place. So much easier if it would work!

But as you can imagine, I have to replace that quite often. Can you let me know? And thanks for the wonderful tutorials. I'm self-taught and learning so much! Warm Regards from Maryland. :)

I actually always wash in hot. I must have misspoke. Even when the fabric calls for cold water or warm water, I always pre wash and hot. It's kind of my insurance in case it gets thrown into the wash where it shouldn't be I know that it will survive later.
