You don't even need to watch the anime to know what the tone would be for ZZ gundam. Just by looking at this preview, you can already see that the tone is very light hearted.
save yourself the time...I watched zz because people told me it got better. The last half doesn't make it better... dead characters come back to life and tomino can't make you un-hate crappy characters. Run away...far away.

The first half of ZZ isn’t even that bad, in my opinion it was a nice break from Zeta’s depressing moments.
It will get better around episode 25 and start to go through a dark Zeta like mode.

ZZ is horrid up to episode 18, it gets better then and becomes rather good around episode 25.
