Great video thank you for sharing. The shop apron I use is the Cats Moses one lots of pockets. Great design but not a fan of canvas and please have a big strap to connect it for us horizontally challenged wood workers. thank you again Gary.

Many takeaways from this video. Really got me thinking and questioning blade selection. Also, can’t wait to try that Super Clean degreaser. I love the fact it is biodegradable and easy to apply.

Two blades are much better than one Fred. You’ll really like Super Clean once you’ve tried it. Thanks for watching!

My first thought for why the 50 tooth is burning is maybe the blade has warped. Good video 👍

The blade actually sits perfectly flat on my table saw table so I am at a total loss. Thanks for watching Stephen!

Is it possible to wax or otherwise lubricate the blade? Not sure that works when it’s spinning at those speeds tho.

In my 20 years of woodworking, I’ve never heard of anybody doing this. As long as your saw is accurately set up and your blade is adequately sharp, you really shouldn’t have any problem with the wood burning unless you’re pushing the wood through the saw too slowly. Thank you for watching so many of my videos and commenting on so many of them. I really appreciate it. I’m glad you seem to be liking my channel!

Happy New Year Gary! Love the apron 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I do not own an apron, but if I did wear one, pencil/pen holder high up on the chest is an absolute must have. I do not think I’d want anything at my stomach or waist, the weight of items placed there would be uncomfortable. Moreover, the than a paper towel, I cannot think of any tool I want on my person at all times. Maybe a 6 inch ruler?

Thanks for the suggestions Michael. I will likely do a video of the completed apron in a month or two so stay tuned!

I liked your demonstration, Gary. Thank you.
I have each of those blades, and have found the 50T combination blade works well for general purpose use. I haven't seen it burn to speak of. It is interesting that your test blade burned only at the beginning of the cut. That suggests to me that the blade is warped, bearing unevenly against the wood at first, causing the burning, then once the whole blade is in the cut it may be more stabilized. It should be replaced anyway, and a comparison between that combo blade and a new one would have been more objective regarding the blade's condition.
As for aprons, I don't wear one. I'm not a pro woodworker, and have a small shop. I'm never more than several steps away from my tools, and pull them out as I need them.

Great suggestions for doing a more objective test by using a new blade. Unfortunately my channel doesn't make enough money yet for me to entertain doing that. Thanks for watching!

@@garynelles Sure. I look forward to seeing more from you! These Freud/Diablo blades are very good quality, and not too expensive. Unless, as you demonstrated, you can sharpen them yourself, they are more economical to replace than send out too.

According to the Freud website description on this particular blade they rate the rip cut as fair and the crosscut as good. I am not familiar with this particular blade as I have never owned this model but I definitely would recommend the owner to step up their blade game. That blade surely doesn’t cut well on rips so it’s going to heat up and attract a lot of wood pitch as you have found. I own a bunch of Freud blades and even some Forest but if I were to buy another blade today it would be a Ridge Carbide.

Yeah, my friend purchased this blade before he realized the value in owning both a dedicated rip blade and a dedicated crosscut blade. He will definitely be upping his game in the blade department.

Fred was probably using a blade stabilizer that’s about 5” in width as that looks to be a thin kerf blade stabilizers are recommended to limit chatter.
By the way I’ve been trying to find a pan like that white one you have. If you have a link please share.
Apron looks great and nice video!

Thanks for the insight Stacey. I'll ask him. As for the tray, it is from the dollar store. I think it was a dish drip tray. I'll let her know you approve of the apron. Thanks for watching!

I had a dewalt blade for my circular saw and after little use saw the coating get all smeared also i was gettin burns and machine didnt sound happy even tho its 2100watts and going into soft wood. So i took out the blade cleaned it good then put a scotch brite pad on my sander and run it couple minutes on each side and it really did the trick for me i guess it got all the little surface imperfections down and made it smoother and microscoply thinner

Is your friends blade warped? I feel like you ought to buy that 52 blade new and see if it burns. Seems odd that blade is sharp clean and still burning.

Not sure if any aprons have this or not but I was thinking of those wrist straps that have a magnet(s) in them for the random screw or other small parts. I do find those handy on occasion and it might be an interesting feature somewhere on the apron in addition to a few pockets. Obviously if you integrate a magnet or two, pretty small, flat would be better, but there are plenty of super strong magnets that are thin and small. I like the simplicity, look of the apron w/out too many pockets but a few would be handy for a pencil, maybe the comb sq. I love the look f the leather of your apron over the carhart type mtl. (Another thot regarding the magnet idea, I might want a few small loops as opposed to full pockets (or in addition to) the loops by themselves might be awkward for holding much but with the small magnet sewn into the fabric just above the loop may make it more functional. Anyway, great video. Cheers

My apron does have a small rectangular area of magnets on it. It allows me to put drill bits or screws readily at hand. Interestingly enough I have used the magnet area more for a very small engineers square more than anything else

I actually just checked it for flatness and it sits completely flat on my table saw table so I think it's trash!. Thanks for watching!
