Hikaru's reactions are just the best, the way his eyes light up whenever he finds a good move for xQc, or when xQc blunders it's like he feels physical pain. That's how you just know Hikaru is really rooting for him. Great stuff, really enjoyed it.
This is lowkey the KEY to make chess hype lol watching a popular streamer learn chess. At worst, it simply entertains people as they watch the goblin king's brain steam at full max and at best, it introduces a lot of people to chess community. 👍👍👍👍
To those that keep saying Hikaru is wasting his time coaching XQC or even those who choose to do a weird flex and say they would be much better with that amount of training: Nobody cares about you... This is simply a collaboration between two popular personalities, each of their own genre (chess/variety streaming). It just so happens that XQC enjoys chess at a casual level, like any of us, and is willing to spend time learning from one of the best players in the world. It also so happens that Hikaru is more than happy to promote chess to larger audiences and spend some quality time teaching XQC. It's not like XQC will be competing in tournaments any time soon, let us all just fucking enjoy the content.
On top of that, let's not forget that mr cow is significantly bigger than Hikaru, so these collabs are equally good for both of them. Pvc and his chat get to learn from a master, and Hikaru gets good content and promotes himself and chess in general to a big audience. Plus, friendships like this are just adorable xqcL
It would be so much better if Hakiru taught some twitch personality with at least half a brain though. Watching xc repeatedly fail/absolutely disregard Hikaru's advice is fucking frustrating to watch.
@@sebastian3217 I dont think he disregards it as he genuinely does not understand the concepts, being a beginner, and a lot of those times he is focused on chat. Akmal Karimov you can also “wet” things, but its basically saying that its overkill because theres more than enough water/liquid(saliva from tongue) to get the job done
Akmal Karimov it’s a joke, it means that because xQc is at a low level in chess while Hikaru is at such a high level that he’s essentially overkill for a chess coach, in the same way that using the niagara falls to activate the adhesive on a stamp would be.

Awesome stuff man, you've exposed me to Chess through these streams, i'm really enjoying it although im not that good. These streams are really helpful for us beginners trying to improve fast
Yes. Super GM’s can play multiple games at the same time blindfolded and still absolutely destroy. They can remember games they saw years ago and specific moves based on “what happened” in the game. Hikaru remembers the game, and so he doesn’t have to read all the way through the move log (which he could do, just would be slower). Instead, he scans, sees some moves he remembers to be around the move, and can narrow in. He also remembers that it happened earlier in the game, which move 15 is likely around. All of this happens instantaneously for him and he executes an extremely efficient search for it. Probably looked at max of 4 moves before finding it This is my assumption at least. Hikaru’s brain is on a different level from most people, myself included, so I can’t be sure
@@idc8982 Yeah Hikaru saw that g5 was on move 15 on the right side, he didnt scan through moves instantly. Especially because this method wouldn't even work that way, yes chess players remember chess games, but they don't remember on what move a specific move was, because it doesn't matter.
