First time I saw this episode, it really blew me away. Christopher Lee gives nothing less than 100%. (I think it's one of his best performances). OSB may not have had a huge budget to work with, but they sure produced some of the most incredible and memorable episodes, thanks to John Newland. The atmosphere of this episode is pure gold.
Christopher Lee another European schooled actor like so many others of his kind tended to be a cut above the rank and file performers. I have seen so many of his films and he seems to live each role that he plays in a very intense manner. Obviously an extremely dedicated artist and craftsmen, like him or not you have to admire the mans approach towards his roles no matter how large or small the part may be. He plays each one with the same intensity and precision, indeed an admirable quality that few actors can match.
nina Maldonado Jedi Master, Knew Master Windu and Senator Palpatine, He was in Steven Spielberg's "1941" and WOULD have been Cool as "Doc Brown" in, "Back to the Future"!
this is weird. i knew he looked familiar, but just didn't see who he was - that's how good he was in this part - very memorable. i had no idea he was such a good actor. Thanks for commenting on this. . . :}
Just happened across this extraordinary episode. Holy cow!!! It seized my entire attention from start to finish. Some of the most phenomenal acting I've ever seen. In fact, the acting was so superb that I felt as though I were watching real life. I am absolutely blown away by this masterpiece.
Love these old movies. They bring back wonderful memories of my childhood as I was born in 1950. I loved the 50s and the old black and white tv shows. Thank you so much for posting these old classics. You make an old man very happy and... a chance to be a young boy again with all of its magic for at lease, a few moments.
I found that in HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL. It was one of my dad's favorite programs when I was a kid. I was too young to really appreciate them until now watching them on NETFLIX. Great stories which have depth, depended on character development and sharp writing, rather then explosions, toilet humor etc. Many others come to mind as well.
VERY good point. When I was a kid my dad's 3 favorite shows were Gunsmoke, Combat! and Have Gun Will Travel. I've started viewing HGWT, Bill and you are correct. Many of the episodes were written by Gene Roddenberry, creator of STAR TREK. Incredible how much depth and maturity the stories have, the main character Paladin, oft times quoting from Shakespeare or poetry. Ironic how writers today mistake continuous libertine story lines as adult
This was such a wonderful show. I was ten years old at the time and use to stay up late to watch it. I would scare me so much but the stories were so interesting I didn't miss it.
Brucev7 ..... never cared for many british horror films .... a few that were decent were "brides of dracula" (sans christopher lee, at that) .... the giant behemoth .... the gorgon ..... day of the triffids .... and a few that I can't seem to remember the names. cushing and lee never put any fear factor in me (looked too contrived with the eloquent speech and color filming) ..... nothing eerie. I think that cushing being the good guy gave them a whimpy touch because he doesn't look or act too masculine. hammer films were ,for the most part, not up to par!
Maureen Longthorne Some of the best death scenes were done by Sir Lee. I've seen two (2), outstanding death scenes in 60 yrs, one is Sir Lee as Dracula, killed by Peter Cushing and the other was Ozzie Davis, on TV of all places.
Good episode with Christopher Lee. Music and story as powerful as ever. I can see a comeback of OSB, if properly done with the same music and no longer than 30 minutes in black and white.
They really didn't have to use special affects as now. The acting and directing made the film even on a beer budget. They don't make them like they did before. We've lost something. Although I can't put my finger on it, but the magic is gone, along with the 1950s. RIP.
I used to watch when 9 years old it came on tv late a night I would get up when my parent were asleep man they were good later as I got older I google to find them and found out this stuff really happen wow oh wow thank for sharing I subscribed to you keep up the great work :)
One Step Beyond - loved these as a kid - and the music that wells up is so good to hear - this is about as much scariness as i can take - intense suspense. thanks for posting this episode, which is an excellent one - so well performed :}
What great actor.christophor Lee. rest in peace. and great show..i.love part sorceror takes lee go in mask. pushes him in dakness and he ends up on the other side of world. great stuff,
Would love to see Hollywood recreate ''One Step Beyond'' But in order for the series to work it would have to have the following qualities: 1.John Newland as the host...John taped several different intros, so that shouldn't be a problem. 2.The same original music sound track. 3.The same black and white film format, to retain the eerie atmosphere of the show. I believe the show would be a big hit. Are you listening Hollywood?
The music is incredible. It matches the atmosphere, it creates an atmosphere and it is part of the atmosphere. The interesting thing i find about the music is that it is creepy, it is haunting and it is beautiful. The music hints at something scary.... something supernatural....and yet at the same time, something somehow familiar.

I really liked his part in "Man with a Golden Gun", he plays a hired killer who uses a gun made of gold. He's not totally bad and you sort of start to like in him a way. He does battle with James Bond at the end.
I sent CBS a nice long letter telling them it's time to put out the official versions of season 2 and 3 of One Step Beyond. They put out season 1 several years ago to slow sales. I tried in my letter to convey that since then the show has garnered MUCH MORE INTEREST and that the last two seasons would sell. They said, "We'll let you know...." So if EVERYONE who likes the show would go on their web site to the contact spot and tell them you want ONE STEP BEYOND....then maybe they'll put them out. Then finally we will be able to see good prints instead of endless poor quality videos of the show!
When I showed this episode to Heather Goldsmith when she lived in Elkton, she told Jackson Grimes about it and he told her, "if anything is possible, he'd like to go back to 0hio in 1999 and kill Marta Jenkins, as she's a thing that should not live". I guess he thought the soldier was stupid for feeling sadness over killing his former girl.
Were all of these things about krauts? What was that thing with Werner Klemperer on the submarine where theywere to discovered a skeleton holding a wrench in it's hand banging on the ceiling after the war?

+Alexa Penn l have been a Christopher Lee,Peter Cushing fan forever They never fail to amaze me.
The same who read many M.R. James stories? Good show but short and to the point.
Christopher is a great actor his mimicry is top class along with his awesome acting and films. i have always admired him since 1958.

Christopher Lee is my hero. We were lucky to have a man like him. In his life and his acting, he was the read deal. R.I.P. Christopher!❤️
omg sir christopher lee was sooo gorgeous!! unbelievably gorgeous!! and undeniably talented!!! i adoooore him and always will!!!
It is those Italian genes. Trust me. RIP MAESTRO LEE
Likewise!

Love Christopher Lee..truly a great actor..fine acting in this segment. .thank you You Tube..I love this series! !!
cool christopher lee. this show is awesome. always has stars b4 they were stars. R.I.P Mr.Lee
He was a star by then. He's already played Dracula and Frankenstein's monster.
I am really enjoying watching these old OSB shows on TH-cam. How happy I was to find an episode with the late great Sir Christopher Lee. Thanks!
I was 9yo when this show was first broadcast.....the damn music has haunted me all my life...found it eerie .
YES, TOTALLY!
You could sense it. The series is full of witches, gypsies and sorcerers.....it is truly dark.
I am haunted by the music.
It reminds me of my parents.
Back in the 1970s, we watched these in reruns on the UHF station out of Evansville.
These episodes seem longer than they are. A good example of the "tight" writing they did in those days.

Bill> Yes. We get all story, not gobs of sounds & visuals. It takes skill to be concise.
The best thing about this series is that all the stories are true
Christopher Lee wow what a great actor.
This was such a wonderful show. I was ten years old at the time and use to stay up late to watch it. I would scare me so much but the stories were so interesting I didn't miss it.
Christopher Lee was soo cool.
Scaramanga !
….with a third nipple.
Christopher Lee..another amazing an talented actor..he was one of my favorite..
Christopher Lee. A classic actor still in blockbuster movies today.
Alas he’s since passed, RIP.
Can't believe I never saw this one...great! Lee was fabulous.
I love his look, I've never met a man who looks like him
But you want to, don't you?
You're not alone.
I think Lee and Nicholas Cage have a similar look.
@@aidstractors and Lee Pace..looks like him too..
@@aidstractors I was going to say the same thing but you beat me to it 😲😲
I think if they make a biopic he should be played by Mads Mikkelsen!
Sir Christopher Lee, what a great actor! PS the captions render ‘Herr Oberleutnant’ as ‘Herbal Ointment”, ROFL!
😂😂😂
RIP, Sir Christopher.
This episode premiered four months before I did. 1961. A very good year.
Loved Christopher Lee❣️
Enjoyed replay live this old classic series. Thankyou for sharing
The theme music for this series is the most evocative I can think of. If the composer wasn't given an award , then he should have.
Lee was a great vampire. Peter Cushing was also a fine one to play in those films as well. Post Modern vampire flicks are trash in comparison.
Peace

I agree!

Oh, Chris Lee,you handsome man!
+Ruby Tuesday (Catnip) Gone but not forgotten.
Ahhhh so handsome
Yes!
Ooo, is that Christopher Lee? He was very handsome, in an intriguing, unique way... And so TALL!!
WWZenaDo I just looked it up - he was 6’5” ! Another web site said 6’4.5”
@@janicesmith5974 Wow! He certainly towered over his fellow actors.
In some shots, the lighting makes him look like Gregory Peck!
@@paulmoffat9306 True, but I think Christopher Lee was more handsome than Gregory Peck.

Christopher is so great.
Thanks a lot. Christopher Lee and Alfred Burke (Public Eye) what a treat.
This is One of My Favorites right here !!! Thanx !!!
thanks for running this christopher lee show
i find it funny that the episodes called Sorceror because christopher lees most well known role is that of the wizard Sauramon from lord of the rings.
At that time Sauramon was more than 30 years in Christopher Lee's future, but you're right, the coincidence is notable. :)
Intense good looks !
Quite good! I hadn't seen this one. Thanks!
I have this film its worth a watching highly recommended.
So well acted! I think we always tend to think of 60s television as somewhat wooden, but this certainly isn't.

Bob Anderson. I
You are forgetting that they would have to find some people who can actually 'act'.
I'd love that! Just as you described it...
Bob Anderson You post this comment everywhere. Are you hoping to get a contract out of it or something? 🥴
Wonderful, thank you!
Christopher Lee is always superb no matter what the role.

Didn't know Christopher Lee did American TV in the 60s
Crazy villain in Doctor Who's Underwater Menace - fantastic!
Very intriguing story. This is my second time watching it. The acting is superb.
The costumers of this series played hard & fast with verisimilitude.
Luv this show, it's the music!, it gets u everytime. creepy? or, just plain, scary?

According to the tv page from The Times this episode was shown in some ITV regions on Friday 13th June 1969.
Christopher was the best actor for being englisch or foreign. parts.
Great show
Wow, this was intense. The great Christopher Lee at his best.
Christopher Lee!
Yes! Christopher Lee, was Great in All he played in. As was Basil Rathbone👍👍
What is interesting is that Christopher Lee was a student of the occult and a WWII veteran.

how many would like the opportunity he had, but without the desire to be held responsible.
Young Christopher Lee approached George Harrison level good looks.
I liked dat.

Lee, so under-rated !! too bad he got so stereotype casted !! Great artist of the trade.
Lee is effin great!
these don't seem to have the original musical theme. I always thought this show had the scariest music ever.

A Classic.
Christopher Lee was born 40 years old 😄
Actually he was handsome as a young man!
In a couple shots, at first, I thought he was Gregory Peck.
Both have those great deep voices!
Loved Christopher Lee. Sad he turned toward the dark side in his Autumn years...
I just realized I was 8 years old
I downloaded this
