Resident of Galveston here, just in case you're interested.
After a historically bad hurricane hit us in 1900 and basically destroyed the entire island, the residents that were left banded together and raised the entire island (including all of the standing buildings) by about 10 feet and built the Seawall to protect against future storms. The Flight Sim map didn't really pick up the wall, so that's what that road was: Seawall Boulevard on top of the wall, with a beach on the bottom. Laura blew east a bit, so the flooding didn't significantly break over the Seawall.
Also, since I know you were wondering about the beaches... They're ok. The main problem with them is that we're close to the opening of the Mississippi River, so the water quality cycles between murky and clear.

@@bbooker567 it was while the airplane was in the middle of an emergency take off. From Victoria to New South Wales Australia August 2019. The pilot was trying to get above the storm , they climbed above the clouds, nose straight up

I was in the center of Laura when it hit; Westlake, Louisiana. Best way I can describe it is "Angry Wind". When the eyewall hit, I thought that was death. 100-ish mph gust, and the high-pitched whistling it made before slamming into the east side of my house was the most terrifying sound I've ever heard. Pushed the tree that was in my backyard onto the threshold of my back doors and crushed the roof, all the limbs from 2 of the trees in my front yard buried my patio/carport.
If you're familiar with the shitty I-10 bridge between Westlake and Lake Charles, it pushed the huge riverboat casino INTO it. And LA DOTD still won't replace/condemn that deathtrap of a bridge. Somebody got a decent picture of it as soon as the Bio Lab/chemical plant blew up behind it.
Lesson learned: when Mother Nature is winding up, get out of the way.
And on a side note, when the weather cleared around 7am the next morning, there was more water inside the house than out in the street. Very strange.
I don't live anywhere near all of that sh**.
I live much farther away from the coast, so I don't have to experience all of the hurricane sh**. Anyways, what was the damage? (Just asking beacause I'm curious..)

We got hit by Harvey in 2017. Scariest time of my life (so far). I remember sitting in a hallway for 4 hours because of constant tornado warnings (I really hate tornadoes!).

For future reference, you should try messing around with the Nav display (the one in the middle) to see if there’s a weather feature. Sometimes will be written as WX. This would have displayed where the eye of the storm was if the simulator included it
Yeah I know the 930 has it. I know how to activate it in the A320 as it's a little dial by your hip. WX+TX would give you turbulence as well.
Nope, POS, used multiple mode from diff heights and no eye.

Just got power back like 3 days ago for the first time, our house made it but I know a few people who lost their house and are bouncing around so it makes me sad but blessed to still have a place to call home, I appreciate your concern for the state of Louisiana, not many you tubers have talked about hurricane Laura so it’s good to see someone who talks about Laura and doesn’t make it a laughing matter so I’m glad and you just gained so much respect man and for those who are also from Louisiana I hope everything made it and everyone was safe

@@franklyncharlton8949 when you consider that they were more likely focusing on things like the live weather across the entire earth, its easy to see why some buildings and stuff look like doodoo, considering how many people complain already about frames you should be happy they didnt go too hard on this game, it would be the next crisis meme trying to capture every detail. I do understand the disapointment tho

Spends 25 minutes hyping up how crazy the wind is and how crazy hurricanes can be, and how excited he is to fly into one, gets into it and doesn't mention once the fact his plane is moving around like it's on skates finally after 25 minutes of no action, just keeps spouting hurricane facts.
Yeah just praying my parents don’t lose their house. They have no flood insurance and storm surges are suppose to be up to 20 feet. They’re in the path of the eye wall which is the worst part as far as the wind goes
