This is one of the best TV movies I ever saw. Michael Landon Jr showed us the real Michael Landon that very few people knew or ever saw and because of that, it makes him more human and more of a man than he was on television. Thank you Michael Landon Jr for making this movie and telling your story.

This is true... fathers who leave, have no idea the pain and hurt they leave behind, with their kids having a thousand questions, and no answers...and how to deal with an upside down survival. If my kids n I didnt have our Heavenly Father to lean on, for literally everything, we'd be a mess. But we arent. Because of His comfort and grace and healing.

I'm sorry people, but no person that cheats on a spouse is a good person. I've been married over 40 years and never cheated on my spouse. Marriage is a sacred institution created by God Himself. Cheating has broken up so many families and destroyed many lives. Never should it be taken lightly.

Well.. If the shoe fit. 🙄 I didn't ask to be born did you? Also who created. Man in the first place then Adam was too much of a boo boo I need somebody then God made Woman Eve, then had to get some excitement now. Let's put the the "Tree of Knowledge" that is forbidden to eat from then add the snake which is really Satan in disguise but has the seducing voice to get Eve to dive all into that tree. Then tells Adam. Now Adam knew remember that. Don't continue to condemn "Eve". That's right! So that's the story on why we suffer today because of "The Fall of Man". So, if God just left it with the animals then we wouldn't ever have these great stories to tell even within our own lives of suffering, sinning, redemption finding Christ, never leaving Christ just swayed a little and those that stayed on the narrow path and never swayed. That would be Jesus I would think. I'd like to know a human being that neveg sinned. Know any? 🤔 🧐

I agree! All this trash talk about him is immature, unrealistic and cruel. He never said he was perfect but quite the opposite in his interviews.
This is a movie based on one family member's opinion after the fact.
He worked with his father for five years as a camera man, and in an interview after his father died, he said he was the best boss anyone could have.
All his friends who saw Mr. Landon with his children and beard him speaks of his children, say the complete opposite of what this small sliver of a movie, based on one son's opinion. A wannabe director who apparently couldn't find anything else to write about and direct to kick off his own career!!
I will always have respect for what Michael Landon accomplished in his short life, especially after his childhood.
There are too many hypocrites here bashing a mere mortal who did care about his children and other people!!!! He even tried to keep his marriage strong and intact by taking them on locations with him.
I say, Give over yourselves people!!! None of you can say you never hurt anyone and never sinned!!!

Adultery is more of a wound to the one who commits it, than to the one who suffers it. Michael carried that wound, a wound unknown to the third person in this triangle.
Divorce is peace when there is no love anymore, no understanding, no hope. That children understand this will help greatly to their further lives!

Jesus is not G-d. That is idolatry. Jesus would not recognise the Roman religion built in his name. If you are inspired by jesus' words from Torah, oral and written, then that is from our Father, who he said to pray to for all life experiences, including refuah shlema (healing from heaven). Like Michael jnr depicts his Dad saying in this film, G-d is everywhere. Michael senior's Mom was cruel and his Dad absent or they were often arguing, or neighbors ostracising his family for being Jewish, looking for his satan horns!🤪 He realised that we see Hashem in a smile, in a loving act, in nature etc. We need to be like Abraham and turn from idol worshipping, be silent and listen to His still, quiet voice and accept His answers to our tears and successes. No man, including jesus can change us,only our submission to our Father creator's presence inside all of us,if only we acknowledge Him. That is how Jews have survived millenia of persecution including from the christian bigotry using the writings the Roman empire put together to salvage its control over Europe, and Middle east. As jesus is quoted saying, do not let religious people burden us with religious doctrine. He criticised dogma and controlling behavior of his reliigious leaders, not Torah observance. Paul made a different religion which is still used to judge others who do not agree or condemn them to hell.

This film was really well done. John Schneider played the part of Michael Landon well. As a fan of Michael Landon since my youth, this was hard to watch. I understand well what childhood trauma can do. The crippling effect it has on the mind and heart. I'm happy his son overcame his hurt and trauma. Being a bit older when his dad left may have helped. However, his father was so young. It seems he spent his entire childhood feeling unloved, with many hurtful memories of being shamed and told hurtful things by his mother. Not just unloved, but feeling hated by your parent. How does one cope with and heal from that? He seemed to fill the tremendous void through the admiration of his fans, and women. How sad for his children. Though he did love them, he wasn't whole enough to put them first.

What I see in the movie is that Michael did put his children first. If one hasn't been in a similar situation, feelings and emotions draw you away from the main issue. As Michael said it, his problems were around money and his wife. Had his children not been first, he wouldn't have consecrated so much time and energy to be with them, laugh, share and enjoy with them. As I understand it, as they grew older, they decided - not Michael - to draw apart from him, if not only M. Jr.

There's what we do and there is who we are. "Be concerned about YOUR OWN salvation - the Bible reads - occupy yourself with it with fear and trembling." This movie touches my heart personally in various ways. I watched Michael's movies religiously as a child and a young person. I would like to say that I have been with more than one dying person, to understand that they have understood that love is more than words. You can't explain to people how much you love them, you can only wait for time to reveal this truth to them! With all due respect, don't allow religion to make you think that you are better because of what you've done or haven't. Pray that you may recognize love - wherever it is - and help those who need to be helped in whatever way you may. Great achievement! A real blessing to have seen the depths of Michael 's heart! Heaven awaits!!

Children love both of their parents and separations and divorces always damage them. Why can’t parents at least wait until the children are grown? While it might still hurt, I believe that it would lessen their children’s pain. Having an affair only shows selfishness on the parent’s part. Then the desertion part comes into play. Sometimes when parents get divorced, they also divorce their children too. Now that really hurts! The real question becomes, when and if the cheating spouse decides to marry the other cheater, will they ever trust each other? It’s called the broken-trust factor!

    • @maricamaas2326
      @maricamaas2326 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

It also blows my mind how somehow cheaters are deceived into believing that they will be happy together; this while they had and will be causing such tremendous misery to many others.
This can be explained spiritually in terms of being given over by God, to destructive thoughts and behaviour; this after not being thankful, and not glorifying, honoring and living in fear of Him, as Creator.

It is sad that someone who was such a wholesome figure in our lives was so troubled. I guess it shows that in all of us there is the good and the bad. Often those who portray to the public a certain image or lifestyle just can’t live it themselves. I grew up watching little Joe on Bonanza and then Little House on the Prairie. I had no idea the pain that was in the background. I’m so sorry for his family. And I’m also so sorry that the world lost this great talent before what should have been his time. I know what it feels like to share someone with the world. It is very difficult. I pray that God be with his ex wives and children and grandchildren and give them peace and help them to enjoy remembering the good times.

We can - and some should - seek not only counsel but also help, still, sometimes we have to be our best and give our best and maybe only God can understand it. The same equation does not work for everyone. 🎼🎷

if a man pursues a woman outside of his wife and marries her then the woman needs to realise that he will do it to her ... if he doesn't that gives cause to publish the successful marriage on front page news!!!
Soon as a man tells you he is married or separated then wisdom dictates that the woman should run (vice versa too).

Yes, indeed... God hates divorce for good reason: It destroys marriage partners, their children and society - on so many levels. As it is written in Ecclesiastes 7:26... Entering into an adulterous relationship certainly does not bring happiness, but is worse than death.

While I would never want to toss out speculations which could be hurtful to the descendants of this actor, I must say that certain facts brought out in this film could lead to the conclusion that the divorce from the second wife was not the only serious problem. Bulimia (one of the sister's problems) and bed-wetting (the brother's problem as a young child) are both known as symptoms of serious abuse, by a parent or caretaker.
The brother was dealing with this problem long before the break-down of his parents' marriage. As the screenwriter for this film, the brother shows Michael Landon in the act of collecting the sheets for the laundry, to prevent discovery by the boy's mother. Why ? She is not portrayed as a harsh or unreasonable mother.
Were there other facts, concerning these children, which he kept from their mother?
Michael Landon's third wife was just 18 years old in the year of becoming pregnant with his 8th child (ninth child, including the adopted son). She was not exactly a minor, but he was closing in on the age of fifty. Putting all of this information together, I would say that there is probably more to this family story than "adultery and divorce" For a number of reasons, Michael Landon has been idolized and endlessly praised. In my opinion, it should be possible to continue with the praise, for his work as actor and writer, while we all take a more honest look at his life and his behavior.

To be fair: For someone as physically attractive and talented as ML, the challenge is huge to remain humble. To whom much is given, much is required from. Those exalted when they are young, especially easily fall prey to pride.
All of us are called though, to persevere on our journey through life - to continue to humbly submit ourselves under God's mighty hand. This includes obeying common boundaries such as keeping our marriage vows.

What a great movie! Glad to see the son ultimately forgave and I hope he continues to be a better dad. I wonder how the rest of the family is doing. If only we could see the consequences of our decisions at the time of making them, we would probably make other choices. When all is said and done, life has choices and everyone makes their own. Any day is a new day to make a different choice.

It is very much a matter of strength rather than choices. In order not to drown you must either not be there or swim good enough and be strong enough. Michael had wounds of his own and his family - with due respect - could not listen. He says it at least twice in the movie. He tried to transmit positivity through T. V. and continued to believe in good, in spite of his own struggles. How can anyone help others who depend on them to be happy, when they - those others - are hurting that someone? In my eyes, Michael had no choice but to divorce.

Forgiveness is a freedom and a privilege. This story reminds me of the Bible story of the forgiven servant who won't forgive his friend, and is tormented. It also reminds me of the power of overcoming evil with good. Available for anyone who will take Christ's words and deny himself, and follow Him.
