Hi Granger, may the Lord bless you from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic! Going to church every Sunday is neccesary because it's so important for us to be with our brothers and sisters in Christ and listen to God's Word every single day. Thanks for sharing this video, I really love it!
We’ve actually taken our church service from time to time outside the church walls to the lake where we had baptisms. We would bring our instruments and play and sing God’s praise. And our Pastor would bring the Word. I like this Pastor that you have as your guest. Just listening to him I think I could serve along with him happily.
We should have personal time with God but by getting together there is a need for that we are fighting evil together. It's not easy but nothing good is easy.
I agree with the guest pastors words. So much value in communion with others. Also the church is filled with such a variety of people and this in itself teaches us how to deal with doing life together with those who differ from us. We also can borrow hope from others at church as we need it. The enemy uses isolation these days to do “our own thing”.
For many reasons, I love fishing, but going to church forces me outside my head to where I am fed the Word, truth, loved, tested, and equipped to serve inside and outside the walls as a fellow follower and soldier of Christ. Because we all fall short, opportunities also arise to practice grace and forgiveness. Growth is often uncomfortable, revealing, and necessary, but every personal complicated testimony helps in the war. #getusedtodifferent #foreverforward #RecklessLove John 3:16
Why I go to a church building to gather with other believers. To know God, hear and grow in knowledge of His Word. Find Freedom, knowing God sets me free from sin that entangles me and keeps me from growing His Kingdom. Discover my purpose in His Kingdom. Finding the gifts He has given me and learning to use them to strengthen and encourage the church which is His Body.
It's about Obedience! People start turning to how they feel about going to church. It's not about feelings. You go and assemble together in honor of God for HIM alone. I stopped going to church when we moved out of the area we were in. I went to a few churches trying to decide where to go but the churches i was trying to make a decision on.... they were preaching about so much prosperity, love and peace. They did not get real....discussing the SIN problem. It was watered down sermons and they didn't even talk about true repentance, the complete turning away from sin. No altar calls.... that much. God knows and watches you attempting to walk into church. He's checking your motives and agendas at the door. The real church will stand up.....forget about the donuts, coffee and pretty lobbies. Forget that! God is going to search your motives and intentions, church is a place to honor HIM! No matter how we feel. I just want to sit in a church where the preacher is heavily concerned with speaking all of God's word not certain sections because they may be offensive! I watch Pastor John Kilpatrick and he's teaching the whole bible, getting the SIN out of your life and not being luke warm. If you really truly repent that means you've turned away from that sin. God is tired of watching what the people have turned church into these days. Fashion shows, red carpet events at church.... no way! Church has gotten flashy! They don't want to hear the hard stuff from the preacher. That's the conviction and they get offended by the truth! God will sift through the people and separate them. People are more concerned about where they will eat lumch afterwards and then get bothered when church goes on longer than normal. Please, that's so pathetic! God deserves our attention and we have become so consumed by our own wants and desires that we FEEL church needs to accommodate me so much! No! Im gonna get into church and focus on God! Tithing the 10% is what he asked of us. God knows who's being shady and he knows who's being manipulative. He's not shocked by anything we're doing because he sees it all! It's time to get real. I'd rather go to a church that goes back to the simpleness of church. Where everything is all about God and not what the church has turned into! There is coming a great falling away! The problem is SIN! God just gave us the sign of Jonah with this last Eclipse! God is not happy watching us flirt with the SIN in our life. He's calling us to live holy lives. We have to forget anything this world flashes and dangles before us because the devil is NOT messing around! He's moving very fast to sway our faith and loyalty away from God! God will check you and it hurts when he's disciplining you! But that is what a loving father does!
Granger, I feel Gods presence when I'm watching your podcast and the Smiths. currently I'm binge watching the Smiths from the beginning. I cried after River died. River was a cute little boy. now I love watching Maverick on his adventures. I can't wait until I get to Maverick on the Smiths. I love watching your family. Thank you, Granger for sharing your family with us
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
We go to church to hear the Word of God expounded. We can see the works of God in nature but nature does not teach us about sin and our need of repentance and conversion to God. The Word of God should be our authority for daily life, conversion, and living a life of thankfulness for so great a salvation.
There are so many nuances to this. And there is no absolute right answer. Church is a good thing and it not only strengthens us, but it gives us opportunity to serve. At the same time, some legalist would say you have to go to church or keep the sabbath or your committing a sin and we’ll go to hell. And the truth is Church doesn’t save you an organization of building but just because it’s not a sacrament doesn’t mean it’s not good For you and just because we don’t have to absolutely do something doesn’t mean we shouldn’t. Yes if you’re physically disabled and enable to go to a church every week and you watch online and study on your own and fellowship with your neighbors and friends then it is what it is and that’s the best that you can do and for some people it’s so difficult to physically do it and get up and go to church Every week and sometimes they’re not even physically able to, of course they don’t need to go to church and can still be a solid Christian and saved with God, but it’s not the optimal option. Go fishing after church or before church you’re talking like an hour. Are used to have to work on Sundays and my church had an evening service and I remember people used to say it was wrong to go to an evening service and not a morning service at church because some people are too legalistic and ridiculous with it. You can live your life without a community and live as an isolationist, but there are distinct benefits to having community and for a Christian a church makes that much easier, it brings together a bunch of like-minded people that you can fellowship with, there’s also learning an opportunity to serve and to be the service for other people sometimes. I think most of these comments were people who just were rationalizing that they blow off church to go fishing or hunting or do whatever and that’s just the reality of it, but you can commune in nature with God and alone and you should, but that doesn’t mean you have to avoid people or Fellowship either, you can do both and spending an hour or two a week with other Christians isn’t that difficult and can be incredibly beneficial. I’ve done both, I’ve been the guy who went to church two or three times every week for years and I’ve been the guy who didn’t go to church for six or eight years. I just moved again and I’ve moved five times in the last six years and haven’t had a regular Church in six years, but there are online churches and I still commune with God and read his word but they still benefits to going to a local physical church and fellow shipping with people face-to-face. We can do both. And if we miss a Sunday now and again it’s not some sort of mortal sin that’s gonna send you to hell but trying to make up an excuse that you’re better off without it just so you can go fishing or hunting or four wheeling or whatever it kind of disingenuous sent it’s obvious that a lot of the people making these comments are just making excuses and pretending there righteous and perfect or even superior when the reality is there just not going to church because they’d rather go fishing and putting other things before going to church and trying to rationalize it away or appease their guilt. Church has benefits, especially as a good church, some churches aren’t good so you leave and find another one if you’re not growing or fellow shipping there. But aside from even the learning in the fellowship and the opportunity to serve, there’s something to be said in growing through servitude and , having commitments. Little things that you don’t even realize, I used to do the sound in my church because there weren’t enough people there who could run the soundboard and keep all that going and I didn’t really want to do it, but I committed to it anyway and through that, I made new friends in relationships in life, but just committing to something and sticking with it helps strengthen your character and helps you grow but more importantly, as a Christian, we are called to be the body of Christ. We are the church and being there being able having that connection to the world Makes us more available to Serve God and be available for him to use us and that’s really what we’re here for. From a personal level, we would all be better off if he just called us up to heaven right now we would be happier, but it’s more than just about us and we’re here to glorify God and to serve. Sometimes Jesus went into the wilderness and worshiped and prayed, but, he still got up almost every day and went and had church with a bunch of people, disciples were basically a giant traveling church that went around serving and spreading God’s word and if you can create a ministry on your own and reach out and do God’s work by yourself that’s awesome, but that’s a whole lot easier to do in a church setting with other people, opportunities you never thought of coming up and just simple practical service. A lot of us struggle with what to do to serve God and find it kind of daunting and think we’re unqualified, Church is good for that, some guy who’s too old needs some help with yardwork. Somebody needs a ride to the store, these things seem easy and trivial to us, but these are great opportunities too Serve and do God‘s work, to support a missionary to talk to somebody who’s lonely and ignored, being part of a group of people in a church setting I’ll give you a ton of opportunities to serve God in practical ways and it may seem trivial, but not everybody wants to listen to you give some sort of massive enlightening, speech, or testimony, sometimes mowing somebody’s lawn or taking someone to the store is what God needs you to do for them. Trust me if there’s an old old person who can’t get to the store, you can give them the best sermon in the world and it’s not gonna help them if you give them a ride to the store or pick up some groceries for them, that’s going to their lives. Being part of a congregation that meets regularly gives you that opportunity in your local community and you sitting out on a lake worshiping God is awesome, but sometimes maybe he appreciate it more. If you were there to serve his other children when they needed it, being part of local church congregation is one of the best ways to do that and that’s part of what we’re called to do as well. Worshiping a nature is good, but if you wanna be close to God and worship him, you’re never gonna get closer than when you let him use you to serve someone else who really needs it. Sometimes that may be out on a lake, but the reality is that’s gonna happen a lot more if you’re part of a local church, congregation and attending on a regular basis. Is someone struggling with this or trying to figure it out, pray regards word, and pray for the spirit to speak to you to guide you and surrender it to him and do it earnestly don’t just say you’re gonna surrender to God and go do what you want listen to him and submit to him. Church shouldn’t just be sitting in a pew for an hour on Sunday then going home, but it also isn’t sitting in the lake worshiping God all day every day, we can do both, but we also need to serve, we are the body of Christ. We are what the world might call the angels, the person that picks you up on the side of the road the person that takes somebody to the Doctor Who doesn’t have a ride, if somebody’s hungry they don’t need to hear about how much you worship God they need a sandwich and we need to be there to let God use us and a church congregation opens up way more opportunity than wherever gonna find Alone. I also suggest that people instead of explaining it to the Internet, pray, and talk to God, explain to Jesus why you think one thing is better than the other, it’s easy to say these things on the Internet to a bunch of strangers or to our friends, but Talk to Jesus face-to-face and explain it to him and I think that will force us to be a little more honest with ourselves.
Haven’t listened yet, but my brother goes to a church where the pastor encourages you to take a Sunday off every once in a while to go fishing, camping, just have a family day! When there is “pressure” to be at church every single Sunday, it tends to become Burdensome, that’s just my personal opinion! I make it to church 95% of the time, and don’t put pressure on myself to make it 100%.
Where you meet doesn't matter. What matters is that like minded people come together to support each other and learn from and share each other's burdens and testimonies. If you don't agree I'm sorry but the beauty and glory is God's. There's just too many things that we get from God by God. Besides if you need to be fishing to feel closer to God than you have Friday and Saturday to do so.
No you do nit but I love being in God's house and being with like minded Christians! So for me it is a very important part of my spiritual walk. It is important and we learn so much by doing this. I love taking communion and being part of the Choir!
Religion is hanging around the cross, when you love him and adore him and you're investing in a relationship with him its really you getting up on the cross. Relationship is EVERYTHING!
I could see how being outside would help you feel closer to God. I do believe church is a must. But that is something I struggle with even saying that. I hate being around large crowds and our church is pretty big. Our pastor doesn’t even know our name. Not his fault, that’s on me because I am a sit in the back and go unnoticed type of person. My fellow introverts understand this and it’s a fear I am working on.
As someone with ADHD, it’s not something you can train your way out of. It’s a daily struggle i have to deal with. It makes even day to day things substantially more difficult
I believe if a church is a simple building for people to gather and worship, then it is righteous. If the building you go to has a concert sound system or extravagant architecture I think that is more aligned with the Romans who worshipped gold before God. I believe God was more about worship through action than worship in a building.
Foraake not the assembly of yourselves together. Lift up and edify each other. The church is not the building. It's the people. You don't go to a hospital looking for well people. Just like you wouldn't go to a church to find a perfect people.
So going to church is essential and is everything in a Christians walk but more importantly the church is not a building or a physical structure. We are the church. People are the church the Saints are the church. So yes going to church is essential but going to the right church is even more essential.
I have severe PTSD, and there's times I can't even make it through Walmart when getting groceries. Too many people bring on so much anxiety. I read my Bible everyday and pray all day long. I wish I could be in church and get ready, but just can't leave my apartment.
I hope you have people in your life to help lift you up and who you can trust to share things with. Take care sister in Christ. Keep focused on Jesus and his word.
I have ptsd and cptsd. And have been on purpose isolating myself for years. So believe me I get it. I'm not proud of this. I use to think that me going into a store and my not being able to breathe was due to my physical disability and my weight. But recently what I have noticed is that I'm having an anxiety attack. I say all this to say I have been going to Christian therapy for a few years and am just now starting to come out of my cooccon. I have a long way to go but consider it please. BTW. We do online therapy after a few in person meetings. It may not be doable but I wanted to mention it.
I totally understand, but isolation is the devil's playground for me. Praying you check out local churches for support until you find the right fit. Just like Jesus, you don’t have to go to battle alone, and I bet you have something to share, too.
The LORD has never told us - "Don't forsake fishing' nor 'don't forsake junting or don't forsake ____________'! Congregants potting checks in on Sunday, is not a negotiable arguement. It is strictly between GOD and the giver. Don't judge. Do people do that and expect extra because of the amount, of course they do. We are people. I am 86 years old and I feel conviction when I can't be there. But there is no caveat in GOD's WORD; if GOD has something additional to add, HE declares it! I would remind you that the giver answers to GOD, I don't need or want the respomsibi;lity that !comes with taking someone else's on myself!
I’ve never gone to church and not in a religion.. But for some reason the last few weeks it’s like i’ve been guided/drawn to orthodox religion..I didn’t even know about it but strange things happened and lead me to it..I’m not sure but think it’s a sign from god for me to be orthodox..I bought a shirt online and they sent me the wrong one they sent me an orthodox shirt randomly.. That’s just one strange occurrence..Prior to that every time i’d open my phone id see orthodoxy church stuff… So weird to me..
So when I was younger I worked in bars usually as security. I'm proud to say I never once denied my Christianity I had numerous regulars give me the whole "Well I don't believe you have to go to church to be a Christian" thing. I would always tell them I agree completely HOWEVER if you are saying that to justify nursing a hangover on Sunday morning instead of sitting in a pew then your argument loses all credibility.
The blood cleanses us, santifies us! We are not good people. To help people is to have a servants heart! Be a servant! Is you believe in God and you've accepted him truly.... then there will be evidence of a life that will mirror image God! If God helped the poor and sick so will you! You hang out with God long enough he rubs off on you!
When I hear a preacher talking about going to church is tithing. It says to me the preacher needs a pay check. Talk to Kenneth Copeland, I'm sure he's got some ideas on how you too can con seniors out of their social security and buy yourself a private jet
I have a question/concern. My sister who lives in a different state is looking for a church. Her requirements are a place where people raise their hands, she has to feel the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, and cherry on top if people are slain, running or laughing in the Holy Spirit. Idk how to gently express to her that church is not about feelings. She has always been stuck on the raising hands of other people but I say who cares raise ur hands when YOU want to. Idk. Any advice?
Ok i have one for you. My son is 35 married has 2 kids and although his wife doesn't physically abuse she exercises every other type of abuse. She has isolated him and cut off all of his family and friends. I do talk to him very regularly. But rarely talk about the situation. She uses the kids to manipulate him and he is aware of this. So what advice would u give me to help and encourage him?
Granger , GO FISHING SUNDAY, because if you have a relationship with God, it’s not because of a church building,. Never in my life have I seen so much controversy in Christianity
Listen to the video. One of the biggest reason we are to go to a local church is to be used of God to serve others, and to reach your local community with the Gospel. You are only serving yourself when you’re out there on the lake. Christians are called to deny themselves, take up their cross and follow Jesus, in following Jesus we put our service to others first. The only reason God leaves Christians in the world after they are converted is so they can live their life in service to Him, sharing the gospel with others. Also Jesus died for the Church and it is good for Gods people to be assembled together. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20
That brother needs to break that soul tie to that girl! He needs to be prayed over! Plain and simple. If her family loved God and she was honoring God things would not be going like that. You keep praying over him. Annoint him with oil and ask God to cancel all assignments and plans over that relationship. If she isn't chasing God then you can see all the twisted ways that are surrounding him. A family following God would not be allowing that treatment! Red flags. That soul tie needs to be broken.
Same thing, in the gospels we read about the Last Supper because it was the last meal with Jesus and the disciples before the crucifixion. We now call it the Lord’s sipper because Jesus told the disciples to continue doing it in remembrance until he returns.
I like to be in nature on a Sunday afternoon and reflecting on what I heard in Church that morning

God is raising up the real church. We cannot be proud! We have to share the whole gospel. Not candy coat it!

If a person has truly accepted God then you will see EVIDENCE of God in that person! Plain and simple.
Yes it sure is very very much
No you do nit but I love being in God's house and being with like minded Christians! So for me it is a very important part of my spiritual walk. It is important and we learn so much by doing this. I love taking communion and being part of the Choir!
Church attendance doesn't save us. Going to church is necessary for fellowship, etc.
🙏🏻❤!
Wow
Yes it Is very important and reasonable to go to church it has helped me in many ways yee yee

I believe if a church is a simple building for people to gather and worship, then it is righteous. If the building you go to has a concert sound system or extravagant architecture I think that is more aligned with the Romans who worshipped gold before God. I believe God was more about worship through action than worship in a building.
Let’s go!! ☕️🤠

Idk. Any advice?
Maren Morris song My Church! Check out the video!
Fail not to assemble yourselves together
That does not necessarily mean in a building with a hierarchy and manmade rules and traditions does it 🤔
Ok i have one for you.
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
Matthew 18:20
That brother needs to break that soul tie to that girl! He needs to be prayed over! Plain and simple. If her family loved God and she was honoring God things would not be going like that. You keep praying over him. Annoint him with oil and ask God to cancel all assignments and plans over that relationship. If she isn't chasing God then you can see all the twisted ways that are surrounding him. A family following God would not be allowing that treatment! Red flags. That soul tie needs to be broken.
The church means the people, not a building where they take your money 😅
Granger, I don't mean to be rude, but this guy has me lost. What even is "The Lord's Supper"? I've hears of The LAST Supper...
Same thing, in the gospels we read about the Last Supper because it was the last meal with Jesus and the disciples before the crucifixion. We now call it the Lord’s sipper because Jesus told the disciples to continue doing it in remembrance until he returns.
