Todd, how about an AC shoot out video? With the introduction of several new inverter style AC's and a few new players in the AC game: all claiming to be quieter, to cool better, have less power draw and lower start up amp hit, it would be nice to see which one really preforms the best. Also compare things like ease of installation and ease of use. Looking to replace the super noisy AC in my truck camper and do not want to buy the wrong unit.
One more thing that can cause the freeze up this happened to me a restriction of airflow when I fix a leak on the side of the box the system was made to accommodate the leaks, and I sealed them up. I had to unseal it. Tom
I enjoy your channel all your tips and information and sense of humor fun I sure would like to make it there. Just take one of your classes for my own benefit. Who knows never know I travel solo and a fifth wheel with my cattle dog and my Bangle cat thank you again for all your help, sending positive energy
Another thing to check on a ducted system are the ceiling vents, I found our vents weren't trimmed to height so they were inside the duct too much and causing a restriction in air flow. Measuring and cutting these helps airflow, and also sealing the gap between the duct and the ceiling, I used foil tape and trimmed all the ceiling grills this made a HUGE difference, also made my own airflow splitter for the discharge out of foam board, the cost of that Styrofoam insert was ridiculous.
Hi, Love your tech tips. I don’t know where questions should be sent so I’ll send my question here: When I pull my 2 slides in or out (one electric and one Hydraulic) should I have the engine running or can I just pull them in or out without the engine running? Is it OK to leave the 50 amp service on and connected with or without the engine running when running the slide in or out? I have a 2016 Tiffin Open Road gas engine (v10) on a Ford Chassis. Most of the time it works fine with the engine off. A few times only in 8 years, it required that I start the engine.
Todd I have three AC units on top of my motorhome. When all the units are on high only 1 blows high. The other 2 seem like there blowing on low. What could possibly be the problem
Question: My A/C works great. My issue is ever now and then it makes a loud humming noise. I shut it down for about 1/2 hours. It works correctly for about 10 to 12 hours, then does the same thing again. Any help or idea would be great. (My camper is 2023 ) Thanks, love your channel.
If your fridge is a 12v fridge you can leave it on it will run off your batteries as long as you have your batteries turned on from the battery disconnect switch. If you mean to operate your fridge on propane while towing is dangerous. Propane fridge while operating on propane the fridge system has an open flame. You don't want an open flame while towing. All propane tanks should be turned off while towing. All gas station don;t want you to be pumping gas with an open flame on the side of your rv. Some states it's illegal to drive thru a tunnel with a propane on. Be safe and don't have your propane tank open while towing.
Todd great videos. My 5th wheel RV has 2 A/C's and 50amp power. My factory charge converter is rated at 60amps. I upgraded from acid batteries to Lithium batteries last year. My charge converter can only charge my lithium batteries to about 75-80%. I bought a new charge converter that's only rated 55amps not like my old one that 60amps. Will the new charge converter be compatible with my new lithium batteries even though it's only 55amps? My old one was a Progressive Dynamics PD9260C and the new one is a PowerMax PM3-55LK.
Not sure about where to ask, so I'll do it here. Have an Onan QD 8000 diesel installed on a food truck (an rv that's all kitchen, eh?), but the connection to the truck is only 3 wires. Can I assume that a 4 wire connection from the genset would give me enough amps to run 2 A/C units?
I am changing the bad capacitors on a Penguin II heat pump that has a hard start installed. The large cap is labelled 40/15 but the parts diagram shows a 50/15 as the part number for it. Should I replace it with the part listed or the smaller one installed?
I have a 2008 Winnebago 35' Class A Motorhome it has an automatic leveling system and it jacks the front tires off the ground no matter where you start leveling why is this happening
Not an A/C question as i live in the great white north and only need A/C or a fan for about 2 weeks of the year up here as it only hits 70 f tops on a sunny day in July But If you need a high demand gas regulator and red hoses for the on demand water heaters Will the stove and furnace work with this setup Or will they need seperate regulators ?
I have a 2001 Ford Damon Intruder, with an Onan gas generator. I hate the fact that I have no choice but to use the gas in my tank, and not butane, if needed. I’ve heard there is a kit to convert it so that it can use either. Could you please expand on that for me some?
I purchased both and installed one in my living area A/C and the other in my bedroom A/C. The kool rv was much easier to install. There was no need to remove any of the bolts holding the unit down. The rv airflow install was harder and required the removal of two bolts. When I was pushing the deflector in place I pushed the unit up and separated it from the roof. Lining the bolts up through the styrofoam was not easy as you can no longer see where they go. As far as performance is concerned I’m still evaluating. But my initial take is that kool rv seemed a little better. I’m running both for the season and will choose which one to put in both afterwards.
I just installed a RV AirFlow system on my bedroom A/C, the main living room area already had one installed from factory. Although both brand may be good I found so many open holes around the A/C unit that my fingers would fit thru so a lot of cold air was being leaked into the attic. The installation was easy. I removed cover by 4 small screws, removed a divider between output and intake, removed 4 long 8" lag bolts., removed the metal brace around the unit. The one thing that took the longest to do was covering up all the hold where air was escaping. My kit came with a small roll of duct tape but you're better off to go to Home Depot and get a roll of the metallic duct tape for vents. I must have use 20 feet covering up all the holes and rolling some into the ducts closing any possible air leak. The whole installation took about 1 hour. I fell that its going to work a lot better just by having all the holes covered.
I had a brand new 15,000 btu dometic put in two weeks ago and still every now and then it will freeze up. I checked the amp draw many times and it’s between 11.7-13. I put in a new freeze sensor probe. The inside of the unit is taped up very good so I’m not mixing hot air with cold. Any ideas.
@@EBKRV412 I’ve tried setting it from 72-76 and it will still freeze. You would think it only does it when it’s set to a colder temp but it doesn’t. If it done it all the time I would be glad because then I can just take it down and take it back but it won’t

Is there a way to make it quieter? Ours works/cools great but is so loud! Is there a way to make it quieter without hurting cooling?

Propane nit butaine. They have kits for cars and it's a big to do. I haven't heard anything about a generator.
Thanks Todd
