INCREDIBLE MODEL RAILWAYS at The Bluebell Railway - Model Railway Weekend 2024

- I spent the weekend checking out some incredible model railways at The Bluebell Railway!

So recently I was invited down to the Bluebell Railway for their annual Model Railway Weekend! In between doing meet-ups with you guys (thank you so much to everyone who said hello by the way) I was also able to check out all the incredible layouts on display!
And of course there were trains running on The Bluebell Railway throughout the weekend too, with an intensive 2 train service running the full length of the line while A1 Terrier "Fenchurch" ran a shuttle service between Sheffield Park and Horsted Keynes.
At one point I was even allowed up onto the footplate Bulleid Pacific "Sir Archibald Sinclair" for a cab ride along the line and back which was an incredible experience! Thank you so much to the loco crew David, Jamie and Ross for being so welcoming and putting up with me filming them constantly. They even let me have a go at firing the loco at one point... don't worry the professionals soon took over again!
Also in attendance were Newhaven & District Model Railway Club who had a couple of layouts on display in an LSWR carriage at Sheffield Park. They were telling me all about their unique approach to running a model railway club and honestly it was pretty inspiring. All in all it was another fantastic model railway weekend for 2024 at The Bluebell Railway and I'm already excited for next year's exhibition! Again thanks to everyone at Bluebell for making me so welcome throughout the weekend, especially Jim Taylor who invited me along and was running the show.

Fantastic video, thank you! It is awesome to see a club who acknowledges children and also is open to anyone for whatever reason.
And somewhat refreshing too! I think a lot of clubs can (accidentally or not) come across as a boys club where outsiders or newbies aren't made to feel welcome so it's fantastic to see Newhaven MRC actively trying to change that perception. Thanks for watching 😃
OK, that's inspired me to try and attend next year. Great video and nice that you kept cutting between the layouts and the real trains.
It was a brilliant exhibition this year - I think it's a new team that have taken charge and I have to say it shows! Yeah it was great to be able to cut between the two, I don't get that opportunity at most exhibitions 😅 Thanks for watching 🤩

Wow, fabulous video, That Model Railway Guy. Great layouts, live steam and a cab ride! You're a lucky to have had that. Many thanks for sharing your experience, it's no easy task to produce a vid like this, I'd say.

I loved making dioramas for 2 ww2 vehicles and kept my favourite ones- and that would take 24 hours just for a foot by foot -
I gave a lot of them away when I was doing charity work
There were certainly some fantastic layouts on display. I think in previous years they have had WW2 themed layouts as well. Thanks for watching 😃
Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to record, edit and post this and other model railroad videos. I really don’t know how you guys manage to find the time for all of this whilst also keeping down a full time career. (Even if, as some say, it is the best hobby in the world). Thanks again.
You're welcome, to be honest these sorts of video are fairly easy to make. It's the layout build videos which are much harder to put together as they take ages to both film and edit. I partly work in the film/video industry already though so it's mostly second nature to me. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 😃

So cool to see an Illinois Central passenger train in the UK. Something I never thought I would see. Always enjoy your videos, especially the layouts since there are very few UK modelers here in the southern US. Thanks for sharing!

First time I’d been to the model railway exhibition there, well worth going. Great to meet you there and that modular narrow gauge layout was probably the best there. Although I loved the o gauge Frittenden land as well. Annoyingly I missed the gauge 1 Bullied Q1, must look harder next time.
That was definitely a good first show at Bluebell to attend! Lots of variety and exceptional modelling on display... I really liked Frittenden Road too, just shows what can be done in O gauge in a medium sized space. Thanks for watching 😃

Newhaven sound like they have a really good attitude. The scene needs more modern thinking to accompany the retro backdrop - or it will die out.
I like the format of the video, alternating between the actual railway and layouts.
They really do! I found it very refreshing take on how to get people interested while also providing benefit to the community.
Yeah it was great to be able to mix the model trains in with the real ones - it's not every exhibition where you can do that! Thanks for watching 🤩

Your narrative style - not to mention good camerawork - is very much h appreciated. It helps us viewers (much) better understand what we're watching. Both you and Dawn Quest are leading the way in this respect.
Glad you enjoyed it, it's a fine line between giving enough info and not being overwhelming. Funnily enough I felt that the camera work wasn't my best on this video (mainly because I was trying to rush round everything while still making time to chat with people) but I'm glad to know it was still enjoyable. Fantastic video, great locos and great layouts TMRG. Just goes to show you can have fun fantasy layouts (for the kids of course!!) Or more serious modelling. Once again a great video mate 😊

Great video! Though I have to say the music is a bit too much... But very interesting otherwise.
If you look just to the right of the play button there's a volume control that allows you to mute the sound if you don't want to listen to the music. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍

If you send me an email address I can take pictures of my vehicles and scenarios back- I dearly miss making them and I have made a few Vietnamese war ones too- I still have the glues and loads of material and unmade vehicles and artillery pieces-
Best to say that I don’t make the vehicles as I have them all made by a professional model maker in the family
