  • J Sai Deepak answers a question on who why only Brahmins study Vedas and if there is someone who is stopping other varnas to study the Vedas?
    He refers to the four varnas as v1, v2, v3 and v4 in the starting of the talk.
    Video credits to Ramayana Kalpvraksam Event.

    J Sai Deepak, a native of undivided Andhra Pradesh, did his schooling in Hyderabad followed by a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University and finally an LLB from IIT Kharagpur. Starting his career with Saikrishna & Associates, it is indeed heartening to see that he has now become an arguing counsel in the Honorable Supreme Court of India under his own banner. Over these years, he has specialized in matters concerning Civil Commercial litigation, Intellectual Property litigation, Competition Law, Indirect Taxation, Information Technology Law, Consumer Protection laws and Drug Regulatory Laws.

      @@ashwinkr4770 i have answer for that million dollar question brother, but it's in telugu.. one word answer is guru decides if someone is brahmin or Kshatriya or vaishya or shudra. But that guru should be the follower of manusmriti not the parasarasmriti. Actually they mixed up lot of writings in these smritis in favour of their communities. They say vaishyas gone extinct according to their writings after the war of kurukshetra. Another thing is there are no real Kshatriya's in india. Only shat shudras. But they call themselves kshatriya. If u ask me i will say vedas decides who is brahmin , Kshatriya and etc etc. First we need to learn Sanskrit and wear janeu and learn vedas. Then we will get our answers. By the way forgive my english. I'm a mother tongue medium guy..

Please look into gurukulas like Maitreyee Gurukul and Prabhodini Gurukul where Vedas are taught to every student who comes with an interest to learn Vedas irrespective of his caste. • @noedits5543
      @noedits5543 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      see, to be supremely successful in life, just like Arjuna was no 1 archer in his generation, one must study the academics but simply studying the academics is not enough. for eg, when dronacharya was asked by his son, why arjuna is your favorite student, drona replied "because other students limited their learning to my education alone but Arjuna practiced and practiced and developed new techniques which i did not teach. hence he is above all"
      so to be supremely successful in life, academic subjects are the most basic necessity but not enough. look at the top richest and successful people today. Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, or earlier Steve Jobs or Jack Ma or our own Jhunjhunwala....what they said about education? did they say "if you go to the top college, you will be no 1 in your field?" absolutely not. instead they said college is for time pass. its the bare minimum one should study. otherwise the university teachers of steve jobs or elon musks would have been more successful than them.
      and how to attain that supreme expertise? by studying academics, pondering and thinking over the subjects, meditation, mind focus, developing the latent powers of acute imagination and creativity (Einstein said "imagination is more important than knowledge/information")...
      so when one wants to become Arjuna, one has to go beyond academics and develop skills which are not yet existing in the world (so obviously they wont be there in any book!) and thats where spirituality comes into picture.
      for eg, i am a stock market trader. if i study only the books and even if i study ALL the stock market related books in the entire universe, still i wont be able to make money in the market. i have to develop my unique technique using extreme creativity, observation etc.
      but to do bare minimum job, either private or govt, all these are not required. only academics is enough. but Krishna always encouraged Arjuna to be the no1 archer and thats why Arjuna was his favorite not Yudhistira and we all should try to be the Arjunas in our fields since we can never become Krishna. its impossible to become God and those who think they can, they are the most dissilusioned. Krishna lifted the Govardhan parvat, these guys cannot even lift 100 kg weight hehe.

    The lady who asked question is very profound -- The pain and curiosity associated with question could be felt. As usual , answer by JSD is brilliant.. Hereditary brahmin and Vaidic Brahmin is beautiful distinction which i liked most. Our mind has been captured over a period of last 150 years towards luxury life style .. Purpose of life has become BUYING big car and Big house .. This is temporary will change .. In the civilization scale one generation is too little .. Hence people will find futility in this quest for luxury and will certainly move towards eternal peace - that is sanathana dharma .. No one can stop that. I believe in that .. BRAHMANA is not by borth -- BRAHMANA is a position aquired after ataining JNAANA.. Veda Vyasa who divided Vedas into 4 .. is born in Fisherman family -- Hence heriditary Brahmin has no say in VEDAs -- Vaidic Brahmin is main proponent of Vedas. PRANAMAM

    Beautifully said, Sai sir. Yes, there are Sampradayas which have interpretations of Sanatani scriptures that have anushtana prescriptions spwcific to birth-based Varnas. Those who do not wish to subscribe to such schools of thought are welcome to pick traditions like AryaSamaj, Ramakrishna Mission, Chinmaya Mission and so on.
    If you do not like the core sanatani interpretation, please at least pick up a Sampradaya that hands out the janeu to everyone instead of leaving Hinduism.

      @fenris4760 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Eh. I mean, Sanatani System itself hands out janeu to everyone. Core Sanatani interpretation is not varna based at all.
      Yeah Varna as a Class system does exist, but not Birth Based. And even if someone is a Shudra, its only temporary since at the end, everyone takes Sanyas and lives the same lives as a Brahmin, following the same path.

    • @mrraamsridhar
      @mrraamsridhar 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@fenris4760 that's not particularly the case everywhere. There are enough parts of the country where birth based Varna is still followed strictly, not to determine the occupation or economic status, or even social status of people but to prescribe practices. I personally do not have a problem with that, but feel that those who do have a problem with it have several Sampradayas within the fold of Sanatana Dharma that they can adopt, to get around this. Leaving Sanatana Dharma is an unnecessary drastic step for those who disagree with it.
      Also, a sannyasi is beyond the 4 Varnas. They do not live as Brahmins but as those who have gone beyond the body, at least in practice if not in Anubhuti. When there is no body, Varna has no place.

    • @mrraamsridhar
      @mrraamsridhar 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fenris4760 it's easy to say "that's not how it is". The highest consultants of Sanatana Dharma are the Shankaracharyas who belong to the lineage established by Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada, and they say clearly that the Shastras dictate birth based Varna.
      But what needs to be understood is that this is for swabhava-based anushtana and not a system of discrimination. It was also useful as a means of giving out occupation based on the fundamental nature of people, and today, it is a means to decide which anushtana will work for an individual.
      Birth based Varna is a classification, not a discrimination. And yes, enough sampradayas exist, which deem that Varna is not birth based. But each of those have an origin date and are hence not pure Sanatana.

    The problem of learning vedas or not giving proper support to learn vedas is the link to finance. Vedas have no business to earn money which is the very basic need of materialistic world. As soon as you link to finance it will lose its sanctity. So learning vedas should be made compulsory from childhood so that by the time they reach adulthood they will make clear distinction of material and spiritual world.

One of the prime goals of ashram life is you think of body less and get detached from it before you start moving towards learning about the unmanifested athma… but of course as you say the best is achieved when you detach completely from body and that happens with certain strict practices … that is what even bagavat Gita tries to tell in many ways subtly ….

    See certain statement by J.S.D can't be accepted by Gurus, to recite Veda one should follow the rules strictly, as Sai stated in one of his speech that all cannot enter Sanctom Santorum even if he is a Brahmin. There is a discipline to be followed, so in this also only men can recited esply well trained in this field. As Sai told in one of his speech 4 Varnaas has their own life style & religious faith to follow. So his statement is obsolutely wrong. Why they restricted other Varnaas those days. People who learn Veda should be a Vegtn, secondly he should follow Aachara/ Anushtasnam, the discipline to learn Vedas. Why restrictions for women b.coz of their monthly periods. They can hear to it when they r out of this cycle. Nothing to argue. But all religions question only Hinduism why not other religions r not challenged & cross examined. Why not a women go to mosque be a Mulla ?or in a church a pastor? Why don't Hindus rise voice. The fear the terror borne community. Only Hinduism is taken into task. Reading vedas is not prohibited but first fullfill the some prerequisites...🎉complete faith in scriptures, Guru and God. And intention must be pure before falling into the study of vedas. Vedas were prohibited to read by all because not all people read the scriptures for knowledge and to achieve the God conciousness. There are people who want to read the scriptures without purify their mind and intellect. And some people with tamsik virtues do read scriptures to find defects in scriptures and want to defame the sanatan. That's why there are rules and regulations given for the aspirant in every scriptures. Only by fullfilling those prerequisites a person can be eligible for scriptures. Like without having the highschool and intermediate marksheet, a person can not be eligible to take admission in graduation. Similarly without fulfilling the prerequisites of particular scripture, people should not jump directly into scriptures, it would be better to take guidance from a well educated and practical master. Veda Adhyayanam & Rituals (Message of Shri Datta Swami)
    The word Adhyayanam means actually to know Veda and not to recite Veda. Ofcourse in olden days when there was no printing Veda was also recited. But the knowledge of Veda was discussed and practiced. Veda itself means knowledge. Shastra says that mere recitation of Veda is worst (Anarthajnah Paathakaadhamah) without knowing the knowledge. At present Vedas are published and computerized and so there is no need of mere recitation. Please note once again that Adhyayanam means to know the knowledge of Veda and not mere recitation. Veda mocked at the person who simply recites Veda as a divine animal (Devaanaam Pasurahaha).
    Lord Shiva is said to be Pashupati, which means that, He is the Lord of animals. The animal can never understand the meaning of any word and it simply follows the sound. Similarly, the blind people are just following the sound produced on recitation without knowing the meaning of any word. When the people are unable to understand even these ordinary Vedic rituals, how can they grasp the essence of the climax of the Veda (Vedanta)?
    The overall essence of all the rituals is only offering food and money (Dakshina) to a deserving divine person or atleast to a beggar. This very essence is lost because all the undeserving priests are benefited, who do not know the simple meaning of simple rituals. You must select the deserving divine person by his knowledge and practice, but not by his external dress. The deservingness is mainly characterized by the absence of desire (Akamahatasya…Veda).
    Today, there is no correlation between the hymn and the ritual. You are simply performing the ritual as guided by the ignorant priest, who is also your brother in not knowing any word in the hymn. When the correlation is lost, you are doing something unrelated and foolish action, which is irrelevant to the meaning and sense of hymns. For example you are pouring the ghee in the fire and burning the oil in religious lights, which are not bringing any divine fruit and instead brings sin by polluting the atmosphere.
    The word fire is a simile for a hungry Satguru or devotee. Ghee and oil mean the food items prepared by ghee and oil, which are considered to be the best energetic items. When you offer such best food to a deserving hungry person, the sacrifice is completed. The fire and light indicate the knowledge that radiates from the Satguru and devotees after eating such best energetic foods. Even if a poor man eats such best food, his brain will be energetic to think about God. The physical fire in the sacrifice is meant for cooking the best food item with ghee or oil.
    Similarly, the rituals after death are also done without realizing the spirit. They become waste and the root-reason for this is lack of understanding and analysis of the Vedic hymns. All those hymns after death simply mean praying God to help the departed soul. You can call the best devotees and pray God in your own mother tongue since God is beyond language and such a prayer has some use for departed soul. The priest says in the beginning of ritual that by the ritual, the soul shall go to the abode of God (Brahma Loka).
    But, at the end, he is performing the ritual of donation of cow (Godanam), which clearly states that the departed soul is only going to the hell. If that is the case, what is the use of all the money spent on the priest and ritual? Normally, any departed soul will definitely go to hell only. In that case, what happened to all the money that is spent? You must appreciate other religions in this ritual, who pray God in their own language. Nobody analyzes anything and the practice is simply blind. Jesus was said to be a Sheppard, who is the Lord of souls. All the souls are like blind sheep, which simply follow the other blindly.
