Hi John😃 i have startet forgin now, after followed you for many years now, i have a little anvil i made from a railroad back in 87 when i , studied mecanic, and i just use/hawe a carpenter hammer.
I made my first coal forge with som Concrete blocks in the bonefire, and Barbecue coal and a pipe from the lavvu and a hair dryer.
The first ting i forged was a knife from a railroad spike, was almost finished in two hours, i did the twist on the handle yesterday.
Yersterday then i build a new forge on a sawhorse😃 with som strip of wood and som dirt, the anvil i put on the end of three 2 x 6, and 3 feet long, solid attached to the ground with poles, i made my fist tong and a chisel i hardened in wather, and a punch i forged no grinding😃 hadened in wather, al made from rebar. I punch my firs hole also, i should now make better pliers made from two pises rebar 12 mm with punch holes, the plier i made yersterday was made like a fireplace poker/tong. I will now make pliers like you, i have to bay some steel 😃and then i will make a hammer with cross pein, do you have som drawings? I will make it approx 16 oz, bacause of my rigth tennis elbow, i am a 51 years old mecanic working to hard on my arms! So i have to be careful, i dont feel any pain from forging 3-4 hours with no stop yesterday 😃 i used little under 10 kg 20 pounds of coal😃 nice to follow you, and learning from you😎
    With best regards
    Steinar Kverneng Viking from
    Norway 😂

Sounds like you are well on your way. I'm afraid I don't have any drawings for hammer design. Thank you for your contribution this morning.

I am right jealous. I'm stuck here in my concrete prison called suburbia in one of the most densely populated countries in the world. I hope to someday escape to a place like this because I never get tired of seeing this.

    AWESOME John.
Please excuse my ignorance, have the hardwood trees not started their new leaves? I am watching on my phone while eating lunch so i may not be able to see the start of leaves. But i know ours started awhile ago.

The leaves are starting to come out. But to small to see from this distance. Probably a good thing since there might be more snow tonight or tomorrow.

Beautiful vistas, but no salt water or sand beaches.

True, but you can't have it all in a single location.
