Wow! When I was in school I made pots out of pottery that looked like stumps and rocks to put my potted plants for my aquariums. That was over 30 years ago. I still have one of them.
I imagine that a little wood, floating plants, and a couple of catalpa leaves would be great additions! You’ve actually made me consider “bare bottom” as an option. Thank you and Happy New Year!🐠

Just curios I am inclined on doing a 40 to 55 gallon shallow fish tank with loaches and some interesting bottom dwellers. A project I am long going back and forth due to personal commitments.

I like the design of them. I have have a rack of 10s on long edge and still have the regular glass tops. They are working but would like to replace them with tops more like yours. Please let me know. We've been growing ours out since halloween, beautiful honeycombs, congrats.
Probably your root tabs breaking down in the water. Not enough substrate in easy planter to stop tab from dissipating into water column.

My main issue with those easy planters is they are around $10 each which seems kind of excessive for me. Don’t want to pay that much for the planters

Add some drift wood for the plecos! They will appreciate the extra cover and they will eat off of it too!
