awesome man! keep at it! but hold your line, there were a few times i saw you kinda go from one side to the middle or even the other side of the track, i could tell it was from the loose dirt and you not being comfortable in it, but try shifting up a gear and stay light on the front wheel, and especially dont switch lines/sides of track on a jump, the general rule is "roll right" meaning stick to the right side if you're going to roll it, but if youre already on the left or middle just hold that line, if someone faster is coming up, they expect you to hold your line and if you change up suddenly there could be a collision

Hey dude good job. There’s a lot of comments to read, idk if someone has said this but the first thing I noticed was how high up your levers are. I make them a little lower than my wrap around hand guards to where the ends are sticking out a bit. Makes using those a lot more comfortable. Then I would learn how to use the middle finger to pull in the clutch
going faster in the straightaways and corners is good for not falling, when in doubt and throttle out, and always remember to stay in your own lane especially on table tops
I haven’t been riding very long at all myself. We all start somewhere. I’ve been doing harescrambles (I have a Video on my page and I ride conservatively too). Like a couple other people have mentioned in the comments, throttle is typically your friend. It will help you power through those slicker spots (good, new rubber also helps). And once you take a couple sight laps you’ll be clearing those table tops in no time (keep a neutral position and steady throttle)
Haha nice man first time on a track and filming it. I remember the first time as if it was yesterday. Applying the right amount of throttle is the key to success, try to stay on the throttle most of the time and pull it smoothly through corners. Going slow is more difficult than going twice the speed you had going there.
@@bunnyman6321 No you typically downshift before braking. Usually 1 or 2 at the same moment. If there is a jump before the corner you downshift in the air.
@@bunnyman6321 You might stall the bike. In general you brake without using the clutch (maybe except when you want to block the rear wheel to pivot the rear). And also if you are braking you lean to the back squeeze the bike and are tapping the rear break that is already a lot of things to do in a short time.
Oh i almost forgot when u hit the gas ur body is gonna try to move back on the bike its normal...as u ride keep ur body upper mainly centered in the middle the harder u gas it the more forward u need to be try not to let ur weight go past the front of ur seat ...u go front to middle ...weight to the front gas move to middle keep ur body in the middle of bike after u gas thats ur common ground an main body spot ur gonna ride in...when u get faster u will learn how to move back on the rear tire for more advanced braking...watch others that helps a lot
keep at It! it is always a bit tricky to go out ona a fresh ripped track. but first thing I noticed was you need to shim your valves. Your bike should kick over after the 2nd to 3rd kick cold. on riding body position is key. stand up on your toes and get your head over the bars. you control the bike don't let it ride you. cheers
We all start somewhere. I started Mx last year and I’m starting to get the hang of it. Watch a lot of mx factory and AJ catanzaro videos on technique it will help a lot.
The mud is on the track because they put water there so the dust does get real bad an blind ur riding vision u dont want to riding a totally dry track because the dust will be so bad u wouldnt be able to see its dangerous so just take it easy evrrytime u first go out...everytrack does it an the more riders the more water they will have to use..its kind of a little scary but its normal u just gotta keep the bars straight an use rear brake pedal drag till the water works in that is what the pros do so be patient...not many riders..today....

Hey just a lil tip when ur in a turn try to be in second gear going into it an near the end shift up into 3rd cause that Kawi loves its rpm and u could get some nice speed but good job man for ur first time
I know this sounds counterintuitive, but the faster you go, the easier it is to control the bike. I obviously you reach the “sweet spot” on your speed and not just go balls to the wall. The momentum you create will help get you to dig in around the corners. You gotta start somewhere and much respect for getting her out there.
the whole comment section has some really good tips but j also recommend checking out a few youtube channels that give some really good tips, such as the Mx factory, AJ Catanzaro, and Rocky Mountain ATV

Great job! My local track is also great to learn on. I’m new to the track this year. I put a couple hours in, 4-5 days a week. 4 things, 1 u gotta let the bike warm up before you go out there, 2 if you stay in the outside of the berm it shouldn’t be as slippery, 3 I love how you’re taking a sight lap to get to know the track, and 4 what bike are you riding?
Once you have had the back end out from under you a few times and you hit the deck, you stop caring :P sounds bad but falling off a couple times really does help confidence. Just go for it man
first time on a real track i was thoroughly surprised about how slick it it was and it zapped my energy. Now i just let a session or two go first then get on the track after its been broken in a little bit
I went to a track for the first time last Sunday and after the 3rd lap round I got the hang of it just go faster and it feels a lot easier I was on my crf 250r 2018 modal and the conditions were worse then that
Dont look at other riders focus ahead on ur line its better for ur balance....its ok if going slow to keep it in second gear or in 3rd gear an use steady throttle the engine is made to rev remeber the rear brake is ur parachute safety...get used to lightly one finger on the front brake if u need to...u can practice dragging both an feel the control....it has....over suspension
Just keep on riding, and hold your line, you'll be fine. Just a little tip, when I was riding MX I'd always spray a light coat of wd40 under the fenders and the bottom of the skid plate, didn't on the engine or exhaust. It would help letting the mud fall off instead of sticking. Granted it wasn't perfect and wasn't necessary all the time just when the track was a bit muddy. It helped with clean up and having a lot of mud in the truck. I'm sure there are other things people used, I've even heard of people using PAM cooking spray, probably smelled great if you got the butter flavor.... good luck and keep riding......
Best advice I ever got was to find somebody and follow them and try and do what they do. “Try” being the key term. It’s scary but you can do it, amigo.
Thanks dog. My dad was that person but even he was rusty as hell and took things way more easy. I got a group of friends up here at Little Rock AFB that ride so when i either buy another bike or get mine shipped out, i go riding with them
@@cforcemx9869 Oh cool. It’s been years since I had my bike but we used to ride at the old Bayroid mine in Magnet Cove over by Malvern. There was a ‘track’ there that had some over everything and I used to putt around on my Kx125 trying to follow the other guys and do what they did. I failed most of the time however lol.
All I have to say is pick a side of the track and stick to it. You don't want to be weaving all around the track. But other than that you just have to practice. Keep up the good work.
Hey man I would take your bike in for a valve check. It should start first kick or second. Unless you have mods like cams or ecu sometimes that can make them harder to start.

looks just like my first time :) awesome!.. but you need more speed.. im not fast enough yet but i also just started again.. we are pretty much on same lvl lol
I made the mistake of putting around in 1st gear my first lap on a track. Put it up and 3rd and lug it, it'll be much smoother. Sometimes you half to keep some speed and momentum to smooth everything out
If ur serios by a dvd from a riding school an they will useslly have a lot of slow motion video u can learn from....its really important....good job ur doing good at leastvu have some balance...balance is important ....dont fret ur doing well...
Great video and lovely bike dude! I hope you've improved lots since this video. One thing I would advise if you haven't already is getting into the habit of using only 2 fingers for clutch and brakes. Seeing as you stalled it quite a few times too I'd say definitely practice and get a feel for your clutch bite.
Nice! But might I do suggest you start on a 125 2 stroke or even a 250 4 stroke, they are bigger bikes (literally) and wil be easier for a grown man to ride, definitely when you get used to it you will wish no other than the one you ride except for maybe a 450 but those things rip haha
Hey man, saw that you wanted tips for riding and honestly when it’s muddy like this if you just are on the gas more you’ll not slide out anywhere near as much. Also if you ever wanna meet up you could follow me around the track and I could try and teach you a few things. Great riding though 👍
A little more speed will help your stability. I remember my first time on a Moto X track. 1987. Lol I raced from 1988-1996. And I just got back into it. Racing 50+ these days. I’m old.
Try staying in your lane, that comes off as harsh. But when you're sliding around and your front tire wants to go down on you it's because you're cross rutting. Find a lane that has a small rut already made and follow it. Try and stay in it the best you can. Keeps you front zig zagging around the track.

Thnx man for the tips🤙 you should check out my latest vids and see that I have improved a lot. Still got a lotta work to do tho
Do you downshift when braking?
@@bunnyman6321 No you typically downshift before braking. Usually 1 or 2 at the same moment. If there is a jump before the corner you downshift in the air.
@@snarfdwarf Interesting!
What would happen if you brake before downshifting?
@@bunnyman6321 You might stall the bike. In general you brake without using the clutch (maybe except when you want to block the rear wheel to pivot the rear). And also if you are braking you lean to the back squeeze the bike and are tapping the rear break that is already a lot of things to do in a short time.
Not bad for a first time, well done
Thanks man
You did good man, real good. :)
This is awesome to see!
Great ride! Looks like a fun track.
Sure was!
keep at It! it is always a bit tricky to go out ona a fresh ripped track. but first thing I noticed was you need to shim your valves.
Thanks man appreciate it
great job... especially for your first time!
Thank you!
Keep up the good work man
Thank you man appreciate the support!
Step one put a little race gas in with ur 93 pump gas...if the gas sit for a week drain it an put it in ur truck keep fresh 93...they make 93 unleaded race gas...mix a half gallon with 2 gallons of 93 pump gas u bije will like...stand a little head over gas cap..try to sit in the corners if they arent real ruf...grip the bike gently with knees...when u go into a left hand turn keep weight on the right outside footpeg an lean an push the bike with ur right knee weighting the foot peg to help the ftont an rear tire plant on the ground...upper bidy forward...eyes look 50 feet ahead or more..use ur ears to hear if riders are coming up behind u..if ur slow try to stay to the inside be smooth with lines as faster riders will be able to get around u dont ever change ur line near a jump over a jump or near the landing in case some one is in the air...practice riding standing up knees bent slighty...if thats not comfortable yet keep a little pressure in ur legs so a kicker bump doesnt send u flying if u hit one by surprise...the big tip is dont change ur lines...for now dont try till look behind u hand in the air if ur gonna pull over or off the track..in Road raving we use a afoot..mx use ur hand clutch probably grip bike with knee in to the tank...just breathe regular keep an eye on holding ur breath when people get nervous they hold their breath...one pro tip is use a little rea brake when it gets rough..try to use the rear brake in between big brake bumps before turns...also get a jump rope or do some jumping jacks before start ruding..or ride ur mountain bike for 5 minutes before ur mitorcycle its important ti warm up..in case u fall u woundnt rip muscles as bad or at all if u warm up...jumping rope is the best just 5 minutes..get the one the boxers use..it heavy...jump rope is good because MX is most legs u turn the bike with ur legs once ur timing get better..if u stay to the inside while ur riding slow its not as bumpy the fast guys are gonna rip up the track more in the main line an to the outside exit of turns faster lines will be more used an rougher...big thing is practice staying at a steady speed an be smooth as u move from one line to another.keep ur right foot on the rear brake u can drag it a little an that will keep rear suspension from bouncing an getting out if control..use ur legs to suck up small bump.....try an ride the smooth lines till u get more confortable with bike moving an bouncing around relax ur arms an hands hold msinly with legs...be smooth slowly work on going faster...if u got time video a real good riders an watch thei body position an try to copy what u see..u getthe why part later...first day dont try to or worry about jumping stuff...thats later...normal riding position should be a little crouch head forward near the handle bars..its called the attack position...ur legs ready to abzorb bumps....grip with knees....have funif u take video of good or pro riders u can really learn body position by seeing in slow motion....how they are on tje bike....pracice standing if u can....have fun.....
Very much appreciated man🤙
Nice job bro! But for safety riding with no risks in the future you need a coach. Good luck!
Scavenged some friends up here where I’m stationed. Hopefully when I get my bike I’ll be riding every week
the whole comment section has some really good tips but j also recommend checking out a few youtube channels that give some really good tips, such as the Mx factory, AJ Catanzaro, and Rocky Mountain ATV

Hell yeah dude! Just be careful around 3:36 getting off the track like that, people can sneak up on you quick and you don’t want to collide. But otherwise good shit man!
Thank you bro!
Great job! My local track is also great to learn on. I’m new to the track this year. I put a couple hours in, 4-5 days a week. I’ve never rode a track with so many other things to conquer before even dreaming of a safe take off and landing. I’m glad there are others that are willing to share these moments in history. You WILL make that track your B****. I’m still far from that myself. PRACTICE, PRACTICE , PRACTICE

Yeh bro nice! Great work for having a go. Stick with it mate and you’ll get more confident and faster and it will be so much easier trust me. Check out a few videos about good body position and riding technique so you have more control of the bike. Learn to stand up more so you’re not getting thrown around by the bike and your legs can act as another set of suspension which helps the bike track straight
Thank you man!
4 things, 1 u gotta let the bike warm up before you go out there, 2 if you stay in the outside of the berm it shouldn’t be as slippery, 3 I love how you’re taking a sight lap to get to know the track, and 4 what bike are you riding?
It’s a 2016 Kawasaki Kx250f
Yes!!! Awesome!!!

Once you have had the back end out from under you a few times and you hit the deck, you stop caring :P sounds bad but falling off a couple times really does help confidence. Just go for it man
I’ve experienced that first hand😂 gonna hopefully hit MMX again here soon so I’m definitely hittin that throttle
That’s bad ass man I’m jealous.
first time on a real track i was thoroughly surprised about how slick it it was and it zapped my energy. Now i just let a session or two go first then get on the track after its been broken in a little bit
I went to a track for the first time last Sunday and after the 3rd lap round I got the hang of it just go faster and it feels a lot easier I was on my crf 250r 2018 modal and the conditions were worse then that
Dude watching this made me so nostalgic of when I started. Practice makes perfect bro 🤙🏻

I'm sure there are other things people used, I've even heard of people using PAM cooking spray, probably smelled great if you got the butter flavor.... good luck and keep riding......
hey you should try the sand track at mmx, its my favorite track and its so much fun and easy to ride too
That’s the plan

Sweet I miss that area in Cali.. where I grew up. Now I’m in Georgia with my 17 450 not knowing where to ride.
If push comes to shove. Build a track on your property
The track is in perfect shape
We all start somewhere. Take advice and keep pushin 👊🏼
This will be me when I go on the track for the first time.

Nice! Old video but still watched i need some riding buddies if you are ever at mmx. I just rode a track for the first time today.
I’d love to but I’m in the Air Force and currently stationed in Arkansas. Could be a possibility if I’m ever back in California

Great video and lovely bike dude! I hope you've improved lots since this video. One thing I would advise if you haven't already is getting into the habit of using only 2 fingers for clutch and brakes. Hold your line
Try staying in your lane, that comes off as harsh. But when you're sliding around and your front tire wants to go down on you it's because you're cross rutting. Find a lane that has a small rut already made and follow it. Try and stay in it the best you can. Keeps you front zig zagging around the track.
Thanks for the tip my dude
Good job though
