    My computer would commit suicide if I tried to edit 6k footage on it.

    • @MrJeekz
      @MrJeekz 10 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      You wouldn't directly edit 6k footage, but convert it to full HD or something easily renderable - and then, when done, replace the shots with 6k footage and export. :D
      I'm sure they didn't edit the 6k directly, though their computers are absolute monsters.

      Oh yeah, Proxy editing. But even the process of converting the 6k files to low res would put my computer in the hospital.LOL
      Even when Im done with the edit and swap the 6k files, it would probably take my computer damn near a week and a half to render out an hour and a half movie in 6k.
      Im pretty sure they got computers powerful enough to edit raw 6k files. When your spending over 50 million dollars on a movie Im pretty sure they could put a super computer in the budget. There probably running on something insane like 300 gigs of ram.

    • @MrJeekz
      @MrJeekz 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you're probably right. Rendering takes a lot of time on my PC too so I'm gonna invest in a mac and see how that goes.
      Though I find rendering to be a good excuse to take a break from work when my client is spying on me :D

      You know they were using PCs to edit this movie. Maybe all you have to do is upragrade your PC. Im kind of an anti-mac guy.LOL

      Are you sure? That cursor looks like the mac cursor to me. But I don't own a mac so what do I know...
      Perhaps you're right but I got an i7 3.5ghz processor and a gtx 740 graphics card, that should be fine but it seems that it isn't. Maybe I'm exaggerating but sometimes it gets really annoying

    Great video, but...
    Dear Adobe, please, fix a micro frame (bad edit) on 0:25
    Bug in edit is not good for commercial of editing system ))

    As a professional filmmaker, I love using adobe for bigger projects. For my smaller work I use final cut when I need to get something done fast. Both are great. For any new people who are coming into this world, focus first on your story and getting your shots.
    There’s no reason to be lazy.

    How do they deal with Premiere crashing every 5 minutes?

    • @ZaneOlson
      @ZaneOlson 10 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      What version you using? I am in Premiere everyday, in fact I just finished exporting a 1.5 hour timeline of 4k RED RAW. I have had maybe 4 or 5 crashes total since I started using it 2 years ago.

      @jonathanwingmusic 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Zane Olson I second this. I use it everyday with 4k footage and yes, it crashes, but not often or noticeably more than FCP or Avid.

    • @brx8r
      @brx8r 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      thegetbentsaggy Programs crash because there was an error, usually in the software. The fact that it happens in situations where the program is trying to do more than the system can handle is not a fault of the system.

    David Fincher was one of the big early adopters of Final Cut Pro for major feature films. Notice he is now using Adobe. the reason is Final Cut Pro X (aka iMovie Pro)

    No... seriously. This David Fincher movie was quite long one and I took the 11pm show... but there wasn't even one second I was bored of a single scene. Reason could be: the story or the the editing. I guess it was both!
    Great job guys!

    We were demoed a beta version of the new Premiere last week. The only annoying part of the otherwise impressive presentation was the Adobe sales team's persistent passive-aggressive jabs at their biggest competitor, Apple. From Final Cut Pro (kept on calling it 'iMovie'), to Pro-Res & QuickTime (complained that Apple's standard is too closed) to their hardware (complained that Mac's have inferior graphics to PC's); they were relentless and annoying with their anti-Apple jabs. Otherwise Premiere is a good NLE product and, for the first time, actually a legitimate high-end competitor to Final Cut Pro X and Avid.

    • @Rielestkid
      @Rielestkid 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought Final cut got scaled back to a prosumer level?

    • @MoreNimrod
      @MoreNimrod 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bit sad. I would love a powerful Mac workstation to edit video with with After Effects and Premiere (and Photoshop) and I think that's how a lot of people work. Jabs at the competition are also not productive. You can talk about features you have that the others don't, sure, but why not engage in a conversation of 'do you really need this product even if my needs are x or y' maybe. Preferring Mac or PC is really something they should stay out of. Sure, I may prefer a PC with Nvidia graphics and whatnot, but the whole thing about this stuff is that you can let every individual user use the platform they love working on the most.

    • @djlobb
      @djlobb 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Mac's do have inferior graphics cards. And you can't change that because they are custom designed for the new Mac Pro. As for Pro-Res and Quicktime, they are rather proprietary, but what's wrong with that? No one has to use it, there is XAVCHD now as well as a new Avid codec that is multi-platform.
      I wouldn't call Final Cut Pro X "high-end"....
      That's like calling FL Studio "high-end" lol

    why has it taken leading Hollywood film makers soooo long to jump to Premiere... their only like stating features that were around 10 years ago with the integration of premiere and AFX...I noticed post production companies in london are slowly turning to premiere because of the multiple file formats it can import. well done Adobe.

    at 1:49 did they just take half of Tyler Perry's face and stitch it onto another take to create a shot of essentially a frankenstein Tyler Perry? They've gone mad with power.

    • @ScreamingPterodacty1
      @ScreamingPterodacty1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Thrill ho Yeah! They do that with many shots in their last three films. And getting different reactions from other actors in the frame and such. I hear they also do that with lines of dialogue--they'll take part of a line from one take and sync it to the picture take in the film if they think the delivery is better--they'll even go so far as to stitch a single syllable of dialogue into the picture take if they think that one syllable was better!

    • @djlobb

      Petr Holusa They used some Macs but apparently they are using completely decked out HP Workstations with nVidia Quadro cards (stronger than AMD FirePro)

    • @petrholusa5855
      @petrholusa5855 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      djlobb You're right. I saw some windows there. I just still don't have any idea how they optimised AE to have a smooth workflow. Or is better because they've got those HP workstations?

    • @djlobb
      @djlobb 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Petr Holusa I would say, by using proxy's on their 2012 Mac Pro's (pre-cylinder) and letting the Z820's do all the heavy lifting over 10Gb LAN, they were able to get the smoothness they required, the Z820's are monsters after all...
