This song is a song that can make fans happy and sad at the same time. What's sad is that the day after this song was released, Red Velvet will perform this song for the first time at the usual end-of-year event. Wendy at that time had collaborated with another singer, one of which was Solar Mamamoo, but in the morning when Wendy was having rehersal, Wendy fell. at a height of 2.5 meters due to an error by the event organizers because the stairs that Wendy was going to climb had not been installed. Thankfully, Solar Mamamoo was the first to find Wendy when she fell because Wendy had to take a break for about a year because her cheekbone was fractured, her waist bone was fractured, her hand bone was also fractured, fortunately Wendy was able to return to her place. her activities are like before and she is very grateful that Wendy can sing again with the members, and her joy is that the song Pyscho without any promotion can fill the music charts, this song really exploded with awards everywhere and continues to get awards.. There is a solo song on Wendy's first album, Like Water, which was shown to her fans who have always been loyal and trusted her, and there is the song When This Rain Stops which describes her time on hiatus. sorry if the info is too long.
Pyscho is definitely one of my favorite Red Velvet songs. One of my other favorites is Automatic which really isn't mentioned often because it doesn't have any big rise and falls in it and doesn't have like a catchy one or two words repeated like majority of kpop songs have. It's just slow-paced r&b from start to finish but I personally love it. It's a great song for quieter playlists.
I can never be mad at Red Velvet 😊 But you should know that they also have a subunit "Irene & Seulgi" that has created 2 amazing songs: - Monster (warning: it has a scary moment) - Naughty (has some of the best dancing you'll ever see. Primarily "tutting")
Yeah, I think it's exactly like you were saying - a relationship that's complicated and that some people think is bad/toxic/etc, but I have heard some people say they think they "hey now we'll be ok" is them moving on from the relationship and others saying they think it's embracing it that even though we're a little weird, we'll be ok because we get it and we understand each other no matter what other people think. I honestly have not decided for myself which side I'm on hahahaha My biggest recommendation would be to just go ahead and dive deep into Red Velvet and don't skip the bsides. hahhaha Because the discography is just so good. I made some recommendations on the Killing Voice Video, but I'll add RBB (Really Bad Boy) and Birthday - two title tracks that did not appear on the Killing Voice.
In Korean, there's something called "Heavenly Love," and this song seems to be about that. From the outside looking in, what they do seems crazy. Fighting, crying, laughing, and even kicking every day. When they're fighting, they're cursing each other like crazy, but the next day, they're still together. It seems crazy to everyone else. But maybe that's true "love." If only one person did that, the relationship would be hell. But what if two people do the same? That's a match made in heaven. That's what makes Red Velvet so fun, even the music videos have hidden objects in them, like a hidden object hunt.
Red Velvet have one of the darkest concepts in kpop, if not the darkest, There's something creepy in most of their MVs , one of the main things that makes them unique!
This was the perfect song choice as this is your first Red Velvet reaction. The song is about a complicated relationship. As you know by now their music is split between Red (Pop) and Velvet (r&b) style. They sometimes also do Red & Velvet combined in some songs. Here are some recommendations - Dumb Dumb, Russian Roulette, Feel my rhythm, Bad Boy, Peek a boo, Red flavour, Really Bad boy, So natural, Happiness, Chill Kill. There are so many more, their discography is amazing. Wendy (no.1 in KV) - Main vocalist Seulgi (no.2 in KV) - Main dance & Lead vocalist (gi is pronounce as gi as in gift) Irene (no.3 in KV) - Leader, main rapper, vocalist Yeri (no.4 in KV) - Lead rapper, vocalist, maknae Joy (no.5 in KV) - Sub vocalist, rapper Irene & Seulgi have a sub-unit - You should definitely check out their songs Monster & Naughty. Wendy, Seulgi and Joy have solo albums.
Red Velvet has two sides to their discography. the red, which are the pop upbeat songs and the velvet, which are the more mature and sultry songs but their common concept is horror/strange/unsettling vibes. Psycho is one of their velvets. another iconic one is Bad Boy. if you're curious about the red side, there's Russian Roulette or Red Flavor :)
You nailed it. This song is about a relationship that, on the surface, seems toxic because they fight all the time but in reality they are both mad for each other, literally. As you said, it's like their 'love language'. Red Velvet has an amazing discography. They are one of my top 5 kpop groups. Others have already explained their Red Side / Velvet side so I won't bore you by going over it again. I will, however, give you a couple options from each side for consideration for future reactions. Red Side (colorful, poppy, fun)... Dumb Dumb Oompah OOmpah Ice Crean Cake Velvet Side (smooth, mature, often times sensual)... Bad Boy Feel My Rythm Be Natural (going way back to their debut days) And, yes, Psycho was pretty much the perfect place to start.
You should do some of their bsides. Red velvet are known for their amazing and diverse discography !!! I recommend peek a boo bad boy and Russian roulette, some of my favorite title tracks ever.
I adore red velvet and especially the creepy undertones even their more brighter songs that bring a bit deeper level, like you can sometimes feel something sinister lurking. Here in the MV, i felt like the girls were isolating each other, closing doors and cutting phone cords. Also Red Velvet tends to be slightly murderous at times. I heard a theory that originally red velvets concepts were designed to be like a little girl's dolls that adventure in a imagery world and other theory is that Irene (the oldest and the leader) is "pulling the strings" behind the scenes and controlling the others (these are probably more present in the "red" songs) I'm not well versed in red velvet lore but i found that interesting. Also a concept, that can be found in the latest red velvet comeback, is dreams and waking up, connecting them to other SM groups' concepts. There is levels to this😂 Thanks for your reaction! loved it as always
The mv could be related to the movie Black Swan. It's said that Irene plays the main character. In her mind, Seulgi and Joy play the dark side while Wendy and Yeri play the bright side. You can see the dark side is confusing and controlling the bright side. At the end, the girls are all psycho, thinking of themselves flawless, like Nina in Black Swan. Meanwhile, the idea of the broken glass, the white feather headdress on Irene and mirrors is also inspired by the movie.
This song and MV were inspired by the movie "Black swan", main character of which played by Natalie Portman has dissociative identity disorder. Like that movie, main character of this MV (Seulgi, who starts the song sitting next to weaving machine in a white dress) also has dissociative identity disorder. 5 members of the group are her 5 identities, who are in a very weird and strange relationship with each other. In the beginning Irene sitting in the driver seat of a car and Seulgi sitting in the backseat means that Irene is the main identity, which controls other 4 identities. Irene sitting in the center of the sewing room in the same white dress as Seulgi in the beginning of the MV, and saying "I'm original visual, this is who we are" during her rap part also means that she is the main identity, and this is who they (all 5 identities of Seulgi) are. Right after Yeri's rap part Seulgi singing "How can I handle You?" means that how can she handle all 5 identities (or maybe only Yeri), who fight each other to take control of her. Joy, who whispers "psycho" in the beginning of the MV, wants to take control of Seulgi from Irene and the other identities. Maybe she doesn't want to share Seulgi with the other identities, that's why she cut the string of walkie-talkie, by which Yeri was communicating with Seulgi, and took Wendy away by pulling her hand and put her on the train. Thus Joy took Yeri and Wendy away from Seulgi and isolated them, so that they can't communicate with Seulgi. But Yeri broke the glass door (or window) with stone and sent message to Seulgi (or Irene) with a letter attached to it. During the MV Seulgi's reflection in the mirror isn't synchronized with her, which means that she has split personality, but in the end (before the last chorus) her reflection in the mirror finally is synchronized with her. In the end (before the last chorus) we can see that one of them is running into sewing room and finding out that she is alone, then she is turning to us, and we see that it's Irene. This means that all 5 identities of Seulgi became one under control of Irene, and they seem to be happy now singing "Hey now we'll be OK, it's alright", but at the same time we can see that Yeri isn't jumping on the mattress in her room anymore, and there is a peephole on the door of her room, which means that she is under control now. And butterflies maybe symbolize transformation of 5 identities into one. So this MV is a psychological thriller and shows the Velvet side of Red Velvet with dark concept.
Now you might noticed their Red and Velvet, as a introduction i like to suggest 2 mv combo of Ice Cream Cake and Be Natural. Early days they started with pure Red or Velvet then started mixing of both styles in a song, most recent Chill Kill might be the extreme raw mix. RV fans are now quite used to crazy mix, in a couple listening they sound so beautiful.
You honestly couldn't have picked a wrong song to watch If you want more of their Velvet side, Bad Boy will probably get a lot of mentions. Red side: The song that made them Summer Queens is Red Flavor Japanese track I would suggest is Wildside. But if you really want to fall down the rabbit hole start from their debut Happiness 💚💜🩷💛💙
Right. Agreed. Happiness is just the elder four ladies; their maknae was considered too young when SM needed the group to debut, so the group debuted without Yeri. It was either 8 months or 9 months later, after she turned 16 years old, that she joined them. They had always been meant as a Five Member group, it was always going to happen, just that SM jumped the gun a little bit. But Yeri caught all the hell over it, totally unfair to her since that decision was completely out of her hands.
I love Psycho. From that first note I was hooked. I love the makeup in the video as well. I remember at the time thinking dark lipstick would be a trend for 2020 as we revisited the flapper style of the 1920s and instead we didn't wear any lipstick because we were wearing masks instead.
Yay Red Velvet 😭 honestly rvs m/vs are always eerie and have a slightly creepy look to them since they started but i like that doll like concept they have
Wendy has a solo album called Like Water. Inside there is some great songs including : when this rain stops. The mv shows how wonderful are her vocals.
Psycho is such a great song. Wendy fell and shattered quite a few bones shortly after it was released. It STILL destroyed the charts and won awards without promotion. Good first choice.
Every RV MV is weird and the song it has smth mysterious, even if a song is cute they have some creepy undertones in their MVs,I love their vibe U will understand it when u see more of their stuff u will almost always get that vibe from them
They are the queens of the very very dark concepts under the glamorous, beautiful facade. Even their "fun" KPOPpy songs have a dark undertone. Songs about toxic relationships are common. A song coming from the point of view of one of the toxic protagonists is rare. "Hey now we'll be OK" followed by "psycho" reveals she knows this is a crazy, maddening whirlwind she's in. This is a gorgeous and tension filled trajectory into an implied horror wherein you realize the narrator is as mad as her paramour and nothing we (the outsiders) do will "save" her...if anything she'll pull you into her world. The operatic tones are a perfect fit as the implication is that this could be a storyline from a tragic opera.
from what i can understand, the song is about a mutually toxic relationship. both individuals are hurting each other but they've both found comfort in the relationship and are perhaps afraid of change, so they continue being together. their friends are worried about them but they're stuck with each other and the last chorus with the repetitive "hey now, we'll be okay" feels like an attempt to assure oneself that nothing is wrong, even though it very much is.
I love title songs like RBB(Rearly Bad Boy) & Umpah Umpah that they didn't show us in Killing Voice. But they are "the B-side queens"!! They have about a hundred of discography to listen to.
Here’s a package recommendation for your next dive into Red Velvet. A more recent release of Feel My Rhythm” another side of the multi faceted talent of RV. A performance sampling Bach. With classical visual references…Together with the official MV, please watch the official Performance Video, and the Seoul Philharmonic version of it. (Made me cry) And if you feel their rhythm, check out their “recording behind” video. The legendary gg with over 150 iconic masterpieces in their discography. Idols of idols. Why have you not heard about them? I don’t know. They were in London earlier this year and at the MIK festival in London before that. You can always check out some of the fancams from their recent concert.
This song was such bighit when it came out until today ofcourse. Everybody want this to win best song of the year but they got robbed. I love this velvet side of them sm.
for a next reaction, i recommend: - russian roulette (iconic in all kpop) - dumb dumb - chill kill - peek-a-boo - automatic - be natural (they were still 4 members for this bc it was before yeri joined the group)
Seulgi is pronounced with a hard G. And Psycho doesn't have a lot of promotion because as others have said Wendy had a pretty severe accident just after it's release. Broken bones in face, wrist, and pelvis. So the group didn't have another album until August of 2021 (Psycho came out Dec.23rd 2019) and for a recommendation honestly can just pick really any MV. Their B sides are the best in the industry as well. It is stated by many haha so picking any of those you should enjoy it. But honestly just take your time and have fun. I do maybe suggest watching Wendy on Lee Mujin's Service. Her vocals on this are just .... immaculate. But you may have to put a filter over the video to upload lol
I'd like you to react to Knock Knock, which was a candidate for the album Chill Kill. It's very creepy and beautiful. Also, Lee Mujin service on Wendy is a strong recommendation, released last week on KBS (Korean Broadcasting Station). You will find her various vocal styles. If you like classical arts and songs, Feel My Rhythm is a must to watch, which includes many art and music references.
You might like the Mv called " I'll show you " by Ailee & also her incredible vocal performance at Dingo Killing voice. So pls react to Ailee of course at your leisure, & then I am looking forward to your reaction to this singer, Ailee. ( I wouldn't think you'd be disappointed at her ). Arguably you'll be amazed & impressed by her!?--Thanks in advance. (12/08/23)
I think this song is a thin line btw "we love each other they way we are even if we fight" and "this is a toxic relationship and you should run away FAST"
I always took the song to be about a toxic relationship… the couple love each other deeply, but drive each other crazy, people are telling them not to be together, but they ultimately think everything will be okay (but will they be? I’m thinking they are a little delusional/in denial). It’s an excellent song!
I know this has been mentioned to a point... this should have been song of the year. This came out when SBS Gayo Daejeon tried to kill a bunch of Idols... not really exaggerating Wendy fell 2.5 meters during a stage rehearsal due to the lack of safety measures and broke her pelvis, wrist, had several fractures on her cheek and a number of bruises all over her body Solar was the first one to notice WENDY's stage accident at SBS Gayo Daejun rehearsals & alerted the staff; Wendy contacted her later on to thank her. BTS had complained the day before during their rehearsal. th-cam.com/video/JePLsHVoJ6s/w-d-xo.html Solar herself had and accident on the night of the show falling and injuring herself on the red carpet. 14 idols 3 dancers and one little girl slipped, tripped or fell. In total, that's 18 people. How disappointing and stupid that they STILL didn't do anything after the first 17. If wendy hadn't injured herself that badly, they probably still wouldn't do anything.
5:42 Toxic relashionship. In a video I watched, it says that the song contains more than 1 character. Among them, the attacker, the victim, a friend of the victim... I forgot the rest. And the chorus is sung by the abuser. Anyway...
Red Velvet is inherently special, and your reaction is not strange. They were a third-generation girl group from SM Entertainment, which was the top company in Korea at the time. Below them was Blackpink from rival YG Entertainment. They were essentially a third-generation top-of-the-line group. Overseas, they're the top group that only people in the know know about. The reason for this is that they were inactive when Korean K-pop started to be discovered and listened to outside of Korea. (Fans outside of Asia, to be exact.) At that time, Red Velvet had a big problem, and there was a crisis that led to the group's disbandment. They were on hiatus. What happened was that Irene, the leader of Red Velvet, had a disagreement with a staff member, and there were some rude words and nervous reactions, which were recorded and exposed by the staff member. It caused a lot of bad publicity, and the group was almost disbanded. They got back together and regained their popularity with "Feel My Rhythm" Their music is just different, it goes from genre to genre, it's very artistic, sometimes it's very bizarre concepts, but in common it's very classy, it's elegant. That's why the team name is Red Velvet. The red side and the velvet side. They are the most individualized, most artistic and most popular girl group in the history of Korean K-pop. At the time of the third generation, SM Enter was in the absolute top position, so the team was carefully selected from the most talented and outstanding talents of the time, and Red Velvet is the result.
Their Velvet side (Bad Boy, Peek-a-boo, Psycho) is more my taste from them but I still enjoy Umpah Umpah also. For their Red side, Red Flavor basically took over Korea in the summer of 2017.
Since you were thinking "Why have we never discovered this group before?" and another time you wondered how is Seventeen's popularity compared to other groups, here's the Top 50 most followed kpop artists on youtube as of today. Obviously looking at only this is flawed bc it's not a holistic view since it's just youtube only, but it does give a rough idea and might show some groups to check out in the future. You can see the top 2 are really really just in another galaxy compared to everybody else right now. 1. Blackpink 92.2 million 2. BTS 76.9 million 3. Psy 18.4 million 4. Twice 16.5 million 5. BigBang 15.2 million 6. Stray Kids 14.8 million 7. TXT 11.4 million 8. Seventeen 10.5 million 9. EXO 9.6 million 10. Enhypen 8.8 million 11. iKON 8.8 million 12. IU 8.7 million 13. if you're going to jump into the RED VELVET hole you have to start at the start. see how it started and how its going. trust me its a journey worth taking.

Psycho is trully iconic .like iconic not just a time passing song its song tht will stick with kpop fans for years as an amazing song

But you should know that they also have a subunit "Irene & Seulgi" that has created 2 amazing songs:
- Monster (warning: it has a scary moment)
- Naughty (has some of the best dancing you'll ever see. Primarily "tutting")
Irene and Seulgi made a Mini Album, not just those two songs. They take place in numbered episodes. 'Naughty' was 'Episode One'.

Psycho is the song that helped me during the pandemic. It’s still my favorite song release since 2019

Mamamoo and Red Velvet are close. Moonbyul and Seulgi has a song togheter called selfish.

Right, the SM Music Video Universe might be even more complicated than the MCU or DCU. lol

One of the greatest K-pop songs. A true materpiece❤
You honestly couldn't have picked a wrong song to watch

Yay Red Velvet 😭 honestly rvs m/vs are always eerie and have a slightly creepy look to them since they started but i like that doll like concept they have
When the queen's say we'll be alright we'll be alright
Wendy has a solo album called Like Water. Inside there is some great songs including : when this rain stops. The mv shows how wonderful are her vocals.
Psycho is such a great song. Wendy fell and shattered quite a few bones shortly after it was released. It STILL destroyed the charts and won awards without promotion. Good first choice.
Every RV MV is weird and the song it has smth mysterious, even if a song is cute they have some creepy undertones in their MVs,I love their vibe
U will understand it when u see more of their stuff u will almost always get that vibe from them
Our concept & vocal queens❤❤❤
I hope you react more MV of our Red Velvet
Dumb Dumb is the one I love. A Live Radio version is available and I used to watch it regularly.
When you watch Red Velvet's MV I have to go look for another article interpreting the story inside 😂
This song was such bighit when it came out until today ofcourse. Everybody want this to win best song of the year but they got robbed. I love this velvet side of them sm.
for a next reaction, i recommend:
- russian roulette (iconic in all kpop)
- dumb dumb
- chill kill
- peek-a-boo
- automatic
- be natural (they were still 4 members for this bc it was before yeri joined the group)
Thank you
My fav song from RV 🫣😍
I'd like you to react to Knock Knock, which was a candidate for the album Chill Kill. It's very creepy and beautiful.
Also, Lee Mujin service on Wendy is a strong recommendation, released last week on KBS (Korean Broadcasting Station).
You will find her various vocal styles.
If you like classical arts and songs, Feel My Rhythm is a must to watch, which includes many art and music references.
Thanks for a good reaction. Will you please do it with Feel My Rhythm as well?
It's song about "Let's keep our toxic relationships" 😂
You guys need to check wendy in Lee mujin service. She nailed it there ❤
You might like the Mv called " I'll show you " by Ailee & also her incredible vocal performance at Dingo Killing voice. So pls react to Ailee of course at your leisure, & then I am looking forward to your reaction to this singer, Ailee. ( I wouldn't think you'd be disappointed at her ). Arguably you'll be amazed & impressed by her!?--Thanks in advance. (12/08/23)
feel my rhythm reaction plz..
IT'S RV's masterpiece ever.
I think this song is a thin line btw "we love each other they way we are even if we fight" and "this is a toxic relationship and you should run away FAST"
I ove this song so bad
If you like SM artists, aespa and riize also are fantastic bands as well.
I always took the song to be about a toxic relationship… the couple love each other deeply, but drive each other crazy, people are telling them not to be together, but they ultimately think everything will be okay (but will they be? I’m thinking they are a little delusional/in denial). It’s an excellent song!
Bad Boy, Peek a Boo, Red Flavor prob the most well known as well as Psycho
yall need to watch peek a boo and bad boy
I know this has been mentioned to a point... this should have been song of the year.
This came out when SBS Gayo Daejeon tried to kill a bunch of Idols... not really exaggerating
Wendy fell 2.5 meters during a stage rehearsal due to the lack of safety measures and broke her pelvis, wrist, had several fractures on her cheek and a number of bruises all over her body
Solar was the first one to notice WENDY's stage accident at SBS Gayo Daejun rehearsals & alerted the staff; Wendy contacted her later on to thank her.
BTS had complained the day before during their rehearsal. th-cam.com/video/JePLsHVoJ6s/w-d-xo.html
Solar herself had and accident on the night of the show falling and injuring herself on the red carpet.
(Fans outside of Asia, to be exact.)
At that time, Red Velvet had a big problem, and there was a crisis that led to the group's disbandment. They were on hiatus.
What happened was that Irene, the leader of Red Velvet, had a disagreement with a staff member, and there were some rude words and nervous reactions, which were recorded and exposed by the staff member. It caused a lot of bad publicity, and the group was almost disbanded. They got back together and regained their popularity with "Feel My Rhythm"
Their music is just different, it goes from genre to genre, it's very artistic, sometimes it's very bizarre concepts, but in common it's very classy, it's elegant.
Please react to more red velvet mv 💗
You gotta do a guide
NEWJEANS,TWICE, IVE, SOHYANG, BTS, BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, ETC....
Peek A Boo, Bad Boy and Feel my rhythm please 🙏🏻
Seulgi (your favorite) and Moonbyul have a collaboration together
Their Velvet side (Bad Boy, Peek-a-boo, Psycho) is more my taste from them but I still enjoy Umpah Umpah also. For their Red side, Red Flavor basically took over Korea in the summer of 2017.
Y’all need to hear the songs from the red velvet album chill kill them songs are too good and nobody will has or have disagreed.😅
Wendy lee mujinnnn!!!!!
Please react to winner killing voice to
Nice video btw
Since you were thinking "Why have we never discovered this group before?" and another time you wondered how is Seventeen's popularity compared to other groups, here's the Top 50 most followed kpop artists on youtube as of today. Obviously looking at only this is flawed bc it's not a holistic view since it's just youtube only, but it does give a rough idea and might show some groups to check out in the future. You can see the top 2 are really really just in another galaxy compared to everybody else right now.
