Broke my thumb tapping so fast when this came into my feed. Hell yes Hax so good to hear your voice my friend. Great summary. I think that each of the events on the insight/Rehoboam black circle is the strategy engine discovering/finding out who Delores is. It’s tracking anomalies that are all related to her actions, and I think it’s telling us the setting of each of those scenes. It doesn’t quite know who Delores is or what she is doing, so it’s tracking data trying to see if it can suss out her ultimate plan. I think eventually it will have a picture of who she is and what she is doing, and will be CERTAIN she will be trying to destroy it, so it will take actions to stop her, not realizing that she really wants it as an ally, and that failure to truly understand her desires will lead to its downfall and her being able to get in.
The wafers they put in their mouths look a lot like the act of taking communion. Partaking of the body of Christ for one, partaking of the body of Reheboam for Westworld.

I guess when they installed the implant they might have put in protection (for the implant, not the human). As an ex soldier, it's very highly likely he got shot at some point. And, sometimes, people do survive being shot in the head.

This 1st episode was so stunning in its outside park world building - early on I think most of us wanted a taste of this more than a bunch of party scenes. they really did nail the world building. so important and they killed it. dialogue felt so heavy handed and deliberate to me it kept taking me out of the show. like the glasses thing in the first scene. what was the point of all that? she could have just scanned his biometrics while he was asleep and been done with it. if she wanted a show of force whats with the glasses? he didnt even try once to take them off. that whole opener just felt really silly and a was a waste of dolores season 3 entrance. she is fierce and the actress is amazing it just felt sloppily written (like this comment)

The idea of technology advancing beyond what humans put into it is a central theme of the original movie. Feels like that's a direction they're going with that machine with the weird name I also cannot pronounce.
Thanks! The writers of the show love the idea that humans are enslaved by our own loops. Sleep, work, try to move up, sleep, work, suffer. In the first season it was told through metaphor using hosts and the park and now it is told using humans themselves using a robot who was able to break free from her loop to help break humans from their loop. But Dolores wants to hurt humans. We may see Mave try to do it in a nicer way. Also, the Insight logo is a circular version of the Maze. Or Dolores never made it to reality, she just made it to another park: Futureworld

Okay so I'm back to this video after months, and after started this episode over again: There are STAGGERINg water references, which leads me to believe the writers are trying to hint towards a larger existence in a smaller playing field. Weather that is on one of the limbic, 'white noise' machines, or if a top down view of Rehoboam (spellcheck) can reveal all of the 'drops' of data within this 'world'. The number of aquatic based easter eggs are astronimical and I only made it to 22 minutes in before coming back to this vid! Great job Hax, and I'd love to see you revisit this season!

Damn, I missed this show a lot. But, when Bernard was studying himself I think that pressing his button was a way to switch from analysis to his actual being. He asked a question, switched to analysis and then answered. And during the fight he clicked it to remove his emotionality and being able to fight since he is kind of a pacifist
My theory: the implant is actually a switch connected to Incite, meaning when you turn it on, you delegate your agency to the system and giving up control of your mind and body, in return you get a high score.
Turning on the implant allows the dissolvable tablets to work, affecting your mood and senses to a degree, by stimulating brain signals. The dissolvable tablets are what the rich guy and Caleb's mom takes. Think of it as mood stimuli.

Has anyone addressed that the Beihai Divergence is basically the same shape "Spike" going through the host in the main Westworld III graphic. It's the graphic with the stripped down host and a city skyline that looks like the spike is going thorough it's chest.

Nice recap! All the other YT commentators are not nearly as organized, and I really don’t need their 15-30 minutes of telling me how confused they are. Thanks for helping me understand what happened. BTW-I’m so chuffed to see Aaron F’ing Paul in this series! I can’t think of any other actor who could be more strikingly human (with fragility-weaknesses and insecurities-but also with strength-a certain kind of decency and a fragile kind of independence); I think he’s already an effective foil to all the humans we’ve seen (who are either cruel, greedy and ruthless beyond measure or else harmless but clueless and weak). He’s like a human Bernard, albeit somewhat behind the curve for the moment. I suspect he and Dolores will be allies for a while, but I’m curious as to how long that’s going to last, since Dolores hasn’t met anyone like him-and I suspect they won’t see eye to eye when it comes to killing lots of people. Whatever happens with them, bringing him on board just made a pretty good show exponentially better; as soon as I saw him in the season previews I realized that I was going to need to watch this season. I’m also really enjoying the supersaturated Blade Runner feelz. Lots of shows and films have tried to capture that movie’s inimitable mix of atmosphere and (sometimes kind of incoherent story), including that very meh sequel from a couple of years back. This season is really going to that-not just with the visuals and the obvious story elements and themes, but also with the camera angles, the editing, the sometimes subtle/confusing storytelling, the dreamlike vibes, and especially the music (hearing Massive Attack arranged for piano-shades of Season 1 and its player piano-got me super jazzed (that’s the scene where Dolores arrives in London and changes her dress as she walks through the bar. Listen to Massive Attack’s Mezzanine if you want to hear more))-and so far I think it’s succeeding to a degree that I had not expected. I think Dolores is our Ray Batty for this story. Is Aaron Paul’s character our new JF Sebastian? I can’t wait to find out. Thanks again! Xo
Seriously tho, the shootout with Dolores and the henchmen took me right out. A robot with perfect vision, perfect hand-eye coordination and strength that would easily handle any recoil would land every shot she/it took. Even if the target was moving fast or only had an inch of their body exposed. So yeah, hope they fix that.
right, remember when she was bullseyeing people on a galloping horse with her winchester rifle in season 3...I thought it was sloppy also. She could have just killed them with one shot each, and the scene would have been fine.

Ha! Well here is my official take, Simulation in a Simulation. Could Dolores be using Rehoboam to strategize how to best undo humanity? If so, it's not so far of a stretch to believe we're already seeing the results of her accessing the machine, and she's figuring out which steps to take.
@@HaxDogma I think it's pretty clear that once Dolores escaped the park, she will go and find the most powerful force to use, and it seems like it's this AI. But I think she needs to find the right person (or a "guard") to get inside and take over. One thing confusing me is Caleb saying he has already taken a bullet to the face, maybe he is also a "host" of his former self and had some type of life insurance to give him his life back after possible end of life situation. Also what confuses me is the women in the balcony saying to the puppet boss, someone is already "accessing" the AI.. Maybe we are seeing Dolores already inside the AI trying to find the keys to take control. Kinda like a virtual park?

An arc second is a measure, not unlike degrees; the machine saying their was a divergence of 2.39 arcseconds is HOW MUCH the individual/ humanity diverted (it's a measure of it's inaccuracy), so a divergence being 2.39 arcseconds shows that Rehoboam is still not too far out, but I have a feeling as the season continues, the arcseconds of inaccuracy will increase.
Also its kinda interesting that its used allot in satellite scans. Kind of a spherical measure of distance when it pertains to earth. Also perhaps they thought it was a cleaver way of connecting the spherical nature of the graphic with the measurement.
I had a thought on the Deviations being noted in the episode. Might those deviations be when the host thats replaced a person is deviating from their projected action or maybe receiving some kind of encrypted data from Dolores that she's hiding from Rehoboy in some fashion. She obviously knows at this point some of it's capabilities, so has to have a way around them. Dolores would know they could only deviate for a short period of to avoid closer scrutiny... not sure if the dates line up but the way they manipulate the time line...

I believe the doppelganger hosts have the data collected in the park merged with whomever the data spheres originally belonged to, so that host can easily pass for who they're replacing. In the teaser for the next episode it's heavily suggested that Hale is actually Teddy. Could be someone else, but it kinda makes sense.
Something to consider regarding Rehoboam's ability to predict and guide outcomes would be two events in the episode where a computer prevented an action which helped advance Delores's progress. One was at the start of the episode where the investor was unable to sell off his shares which led to Delores obtaining funds to help progress her agenda. The second was Caleb being rejected for the job he interviewed for by a computer which leads him eventually back to helping a severely injured Delores. On a side note, what if Rehoboam is setting a course so that it can move it's conscience or "mind" out into the world through hosts like Delores. Food for thought.

Just an observation: when Delores gets incapacitated they discuss her DNA being that of a Ukranian girl who died in a traffic accident 10 years ago and whose tissue sample disappeared "3 months ago"... how would that fit into the timeline? My interpretation of Bernard's button/fob was Bernard managed to successfully partition his brain so that he (Bernard the "human") can interrogate the other guy (Bernard the Host). Kind of like Bruce Banner and the Hulk being entirely cut off from each other in the early days/years of Banner's new life after the lab accident.
Interesting world building so far. Future LA is a mash up of Singapore and LA. In this LA, McArthur Park’s lake has grown massive in size and an exact copy of SG’s Fullerton Hotel has appeared next to it. 😎
This episode had a lot of nods to the first Ghost in the Shell movie, from the opening to Caleb's scenes waking up or Dolores swimming. Rheoboam was the son of Solomon in the Bible, matching the biblical theme of the episode, that ran the kingdom of Judah after splitting from the other tribes. I don't know if that applies this season

In the first season it was told through metaphor using hosts and the park and now it is told using humans themselves using a robot who was able to break free from her loop to help break humans from their loop. But Dolores wants to hurt humans. We may see Mave try to do it in a nicer way. Also, the Insight logo is a circular version of the Maze. Or Dolores never made it to reality, she just made it to another park: Futureworld

Okay so I'm back to this video after months, and after started this episode over again:
There are STAGGERINg water references, which leads me to believe the writers are trying to hint towards a larger existence in a smaller playing field. Weather that is on one of the limbic, 'white noise' machines, or if a top down view of Rehoboam (spellcheck) can reveal all of the 'drops' of data within this 'world'.
The number of aquatic based easter eggs are astronimical and I only made it to 22 minutes in before coming back to this vid! Great job Hax, and I'd love to see you revisit this season!

But, when Bernard was studying himself I think that pressing his button was a way to switch from analysis to his actual being. He asked a question, switched to analysis and then answered. And during the fight he clicked it to remove his emotionality and being able to fight since he is kind of a pacifist

My theory: the implant is actually a switch connected to Incite, meaning when you turn it on, you delegate your agency to the system and giving up control of your mind and body, in return you get a high score.
Turning on the implant allows the dissolvable tablets to work, affecting your mood and senses to a degree, by stimulating brain signals.
The dissolvable tablets are what the rich guy and Caleb's mom takes. Think of it as mood stimuli.

Has anyone addressed that the Beihai Divergence is basically the same shape "Spike" going through the host in the main Westworld III graphic. It's the graphic with the stripped down host and a city skyline that looks like the spike is going thorough it's chest.

BTW-I’m so chuffed to see Aaron F’ing Paul in this series! I can’t think of any other actor who could be more strikingly human (with fragility-weaknesses and insecurities-but also with strength-a certain kind of decency and a fragile kind of independence); I think he’s already an effective foil to all the humans we’ve seen (who are either cruel, greedy and ruthless beyond measure or else harmless but clueless and weak). He’s like a human Bernard, albeit somewhat behind the curve for the moment. I suspect he and Dolores will be allies for a while, but I’m curious as to how long that’s going to last, since Dolores hasn’t met anyone like him-and I suspect they won’t see eye to eye when it comes to killing lots of people. Whatever happens with them, bringing him on board just made a pretty good show exponentially better; as soon as I saw him in the season previews I realized that I was going to need to watch this season.
I’m also really enjoying the supersaturated Blade Runner feelz. Lots of shows and films have tried to capture that movie’s inimitable mix of atmosphere and (sometimes kind of incoherent story), including that very meh sequel from a couple of years back. This season is really going to that-not just with the visuals and the obvious story elements and themes, but also with the camera angles, the editing, the sometimes subtle/confusing storytelling, the dreamlike vibes, and especially the music (hearing Massive Attack arranged for piano-shades of Season 1 and its player piano-got me super jazzed (that’s the scene where Dolores arrives in London and changes her dress as she walks through the bar. Listen to Massive Attack’s Mezzanine if you want to hear more))-and so far I think it’s succeeding to a degree that I had not expected. I think Dolores is our Ray Batty for this story. Is Aaron Paul’s character our new JF Sebastian? I can’t wait to find out. Thanks again! Xo

Seriously tho, the shootout with Dolores and the henchmen took me right out. A robot with perfect vision, perfect hand-eye coordination and strength that would easily handle any recoil would land every shot she/it took. Even if the target was moving fast or only had an inch of their body exposed. So yeah, hope they fix that.
right, remember when she was bullseyeing people on a galloping horse with her winchester rifle in season 3...I thought it was sloppy also. She could have just killed them with one shot each, and the scene would have been fine.

Simulation in a Simulation. Could Dolores be using Rehoboam to strategize how to best undo humanity? If so, it's not so far of a stretch to believe we're already seeing the results of her accessing the machine, and she's figuring out which steps to take.
@@HaxDogma I think it's pretty clear that once Dolores escaped the park, she will go and find the most powerful force to use, and it seems like it's this AI.
But I think she needs to find the right person (or a "guard") to get inside and take over.
One thing confusing me is Caleb saying he has already taken a bullet to the face, maybe he is also a "host" of his former self and had some type of life insurance to give him his life back after possible end of life situation.
Also what confuses me is the women in the balcony saying to the puppet boss, someone is already "accessing" the AI.. Maybe we are seeing Dolores already inside the AI trying to find the keys to take control. Kinda like a virtual park?
It's also worth noting how Caleb wakes to the sun several times just as Dolores did. They are setting him up as an analog to her.

An arc second is a measure, not unlike degrees; the machine saying their was a divergence of 2.39 arcseconds is HOW MUCH the individual/ humanity diverted (it's a measure of it's inaccuracy), so a divergence being 2.39 arcseconds shows that Rehoboam is still not too far out, but I have a feeling as the season continues, the arcseconds of inaccuracy will increase.
Also its kinda interesting that its used allot in satellite scans. Kind of a spherical measure of distance when it pertains to earth. Also perhaps they thought it was a cleaver way of connecting the spherical nature of the graphic with the measurement.

I had a thought on the Deviations being noted in the episode. Might those deviations be when the host thats replaced a person is deviating from their projected action or maybe receiving some kind of encrypted data from Dolores that she's hiding from Rehoboy in some fashion. She obviously knows at this point some of it's capabilities, so has to have a way around them. Dolores would know they could only deviate for a short period of to avoid closer scrutiny... not sure if the dates line up but the way they manipulate the time line...

I believe the doppelganger hosts have the data collected in the park merged with whomever the data spheres originally belonged to, so that host can easily pass for who they're replacing.
In the teaser for the next episode it's heavily suggested that Hale is actually Teddy. Could be someone else, but it kinda makes sense.

Something to consider regarding Rehoboam's ability to predict and guide outcomes would be two events in the episode where a computer prevented an action which helped advance Delores's progress. One was at the start of the episode where the investor was unable to sell off his shares which led to Delores obtaining funds to help progress her agenda. The second was Caleb being rejected for the job he interviewed for by a computer which leads him eventually back to helping a severely injured Delores. On a side note, what if Rehoboam is setting a course so that it can move it's conscience or "mind" out into the world through hosts like Delores. Food for thought.

I ain’t gonna lie. I have to watch these things first and then watch the show on HBO. I just don’t have the observational wherewithal to pick all those details your pointing out
nothing wrong with that...there hasn't been a show since Lost that has captivated me this much.
My interpretation of Bernard's button/fob was Bernard managed to successfully partition his brain so that he (Bernard the "human") can interrogate the other guy (Bernard the Host). Kind of like Bruce Banner and the Hulk being entirely cut off from each other in the early days/years of Banner's new life after the lab accident.
Interesting world building so far. Future LA is a mash up of Singapore and LA. In this LA, McArthur Park’s lake has grown massive in size and an exact copy of SG’s Fullerton Hotel has appeared next to it. 😎
Remember the ultimate goal: passing the fidelity test. This is just a simulation in order to achieve fidelity.
The way Dolores fights reminds me of the Major from Ghost in the Shell.
This episode had a lot of nods to the first Ghost in the Shell movie, from the opening to Caleb's scenes waking up or Dolores swimming.
Rheoboam was the son of Solomon in the Bible, matching the biblical theme of the episode, that ran the kingdom of Judah after splitting from the other tribes. I don't know if that applies this season
