  • Take a ride aboard an eastbound Shore Line East Train from
New Haven Union Station to New London featuring the recently
    reinstalled Automated Station Information (ASI)
System announcements. These announcements were recorded/included with the original
“as delivered” New Haven Line files, but were never previously updated
because the M8s were not yet running on SLE at the time. *Please keep in mind, this video focuses more on the
ASI system and less of the scenery along the ride.
You will notice some minor issues. I’m sure they will be
corrected in the next update. Enjoy!

Glad to hear it has Van Ritshie as the announcer, and not that robot on the LIRR M9s

The announcements for SLE were recorded with all of the original M7/ M8 announcements. These are not new.

im glad it says shore line east, would be very confusing without it. people think its going to grand central since cant take the M8 on the hardford line.

Great video! When was this? I've noticed them testing the ASI announcements for months.

They gotta fix spelling! Also, could've done without Shore Line East before each station name. Other than that, it's great to see they used Van Ritshie's voice!

It's great to hear the announcements but the "Shore Line East" part seems unnecessary.

its to let them know that its Not Their Train(NTT)

@@POSSEPIED If they see "New London" on the train's signage and they hear "This is the train to New London" I would assume that would be enough to tip people off that it's not going to say Grand Central.

I wonder why Van Ritshie says Shore Line East before every stop on that rail line route. And yes, SLE/CTRail is borrowing MTA Metro-North Railroad's M8 trains periodically.

So that when the run direct SLE service, passengers know that the train is going to stops beyond MNR territory. Also, these are not "borrowed". The state of Connecticut owns a major portion of M8s for use on Connecticut services.

So all the M8s on the SLE have properly working announcements like this?
