Tom Wahl and Kathy Dice lead us on a virtual tour of Red Fern Farm near Wapello, Iowa, where they manage over 80 species of agroforestry crops. "We're trying to mimic the biodiversity you'd see in nature," Kathy says.

Great work. Really great! I live in Little Rock Arkansas on a small lot in the city. I've got 6 paw paw trees going. Can't wait until they bear fruit. Maybe 3 or 4 more years! I've had to provide shade for them. They were getting burned by the hot Arkansas sun. Now they're thriving. I have mimosas shading them.

Check out syntropic agroforestry on youtube. It's a way of planting the forest so that it starts making money within 30 days using annuals to shelter the perennial plants and using layered stratification and forest succession. It produces way more and cuts down on mowing.
