  • @werrywit
    @werrywit 4 ปีที่แล้ว +314

In my opinion this is what should have been the best from each generation.
Gen 1: Alakazam. Arcanine is pretty good but it doesn't get enough coverage. Alakazam has really good coverage as well as really good speed and special attack and if you give it a life orb it doesn't take damage from it because of magic guard.
Gen 2: Scizor. I'm surprised you didn't even bring up scizor at all when talking about gen 2. It has a stab, technician boosted bullet punch which is capable of dominating opposing teams if used correctly. Crobat is... Meh. I mean it can do pretty good damage, but it's attack stat isn't high enough for it to be capable of easily sweeping teams (which is it's primary purpose).
    Gen 3: Blaziken. Need I say more? *S P E E E D B O O S T.* Milotic is good, But... Baziken is broken.
Gen 4: I agree with you that Togekiss is the best. So I'm not going to write a whole essay on it.
Gen 5: Excadrill. Volcarona is probably second, but Excadrill is undoubtedly first (in my opinion). With sand stream support it is easily capable of sweeping teams with its incredible 130 base attack. Even if you're not running sand rush its still pretty good, but your going to be running sand rush.
Gen 6: Greninja. This is another case like blaziken where it's ability (in this case protean) makes it incredibly good. I really don't think I need to explain myself with this pick.
Gen 7: I'm surprised you even considered Golisopod for the list. It's ability is just horrible. I think the best option here is incineroar. It gets access to intimidate which is an incredble abilty. It also gets parting shot and fake out so it can take advantage of this incredible ability. It also gets decent offensive coverage as well, but your mostly going to use it as an intimidate pivot.
    Gen 8: *T H E V I S H*

    • @flashaxl
      @flashaxl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +57

I prefer yours better. Most of the Pokemon you listed fared better in competitive battle than his list. For the newer meta, I think Arcanine is a better one than Alakazam. For Gen 5, either Volcarona or Excadrill is good, but Excadrill had better days in competitive days. For Gen 7, Incineroar is like Arcanine (Intimidate user), but with a Dark typing for additional coverage. Definitely better than Golisopod. Statistic of Incineroar usage at competitive play disagree that Golisopod is better, lol

@That One Guy In The Comment Section to be honest I completely forgot that serperior existed. I would still say excadrill is better tho because of serperior terrible, horrible, no good, very bad movepool. It gets grass coverage, it gets dragon pulse, and that's basically it. Although I guess you only really need leaf storm to sweep but serperior also has a bad typing (both offensively and defensively) while excadrills typing is one of the best offensively. Also you can't underestimate the power of sand rush.

If Dragapult aims for anyone besides Metagross or Dragonite they're out, Garchomp is a second elimination round, Salamence, Tyranitar, and Metagross can Mega-Evolve (Garchomp wouldn't choose to), Dragonite is basically all but unkillable, and even Kommo-o has its signature Z-move. Goodra is the weakest pseudo. All pseudos were in the OU tier in some point of their careers but Goodra was never viable there, his stat distribuitions are bad and he has no great gimmick like TTar's sand stream or Dragonite's Multiscale to stand out or even a good boosting move.

Not only is it the “legendary” Pokemon, it would mean that Kanto dragon types would no longer be restricted to the Dragonite line.
This would make it slightly easier to fight Lorelei and Lance, and would even give Lance another Pokemon to add to his own party.
It would fit Lance perfectly if it had Own Tempo to sidestep Outrage’s drawback - seeing as Lance cheeses players by spamming full restores, and using under-levelled Dragonites.

Because of this, the ones that are best tend to be hard hitting; and having said that, I can't say that with other choices like Crobat, Noivern, or Arcanine being nominated that there is any way that Volcarona should be the one picked as the "weakest" of these choices.

Quick reminder gen 8 has given stone evolution and friendship evolution a full list of Move Reminder moves so no you don't need good moves off the first or second forms just evolve them and remember all the good stuff. This is the best gen to make those Pokemon in as they no longer lose out on moves. They get the complete learn set now for free once evolved. This only gives you what the pre form learned not any weird TM or TR moves but if you need the learn set stuff then it's easy to get. Not a lot of people seem to know this is the case. It's a really strong lists, though I do have some differing opinions.
Gen 1: I don't see Gyarados mentioned a lot here. Intimidate is always a good tool, and DD is always a good tool for his arsenal.
Gen 2: Scizor is an amazing an imo works better than Crobat, losing out only on speed that can be patched up by BP.
Gen 3: Milotic is pretty much what'd I would choose, and you said everything. The sheer natural special bulk it has, plus the physical bulk from Marvel Scale is just a recipe for an annoying mon. That or you can go more aggressive with Competitive.
Gen 4: There's other contenders like Infernape, but Togekiss is just too good. Just the flinch hax puts her in a rather high spot (albeit very cheaply), plus the coverage and support moves like Wish that this thing has, only hindered by a rather slow speed. Though with a good speed support or a simple Choice Scarf, you can just grind anything with Air Slash.
Gen 5: A toss between Excadrill and Volc tbh. Volc is more aggressive whereas Exca is kore all rounded, though I'd consdier Exca better, just for its sheer versatility at being an offensive mon with SD, or a support mon with Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin without losing much power with a STAB Earthquake.
Gen 6: It's hard not to pick Protean Greninja. Not much to be said, super fast, good attack, even better ability. That being said, Aegislash is at the same level of broken, and sometimes even more, though it has been a little quiet for this fella for a bit now.
Gen 7: Imo Incineroar is a good contender here. Intimidate, again, a good ability, even better when paired with Parting Shot. Plus, it has a good offensive capability and great STABS typings for attacking. Pheromosa would also be a choice, but she's more of a glass cannon. Super fast, hits super hard, dies super quick.
Gen 8: Geez, just by looking at this dex there's a lot of good mons here. Rillaboom, Cinderace, Corviknight, Fish, GDarm. Rilla and Cinder is already infamous, Corviknight is just an annoying support that can set up with Bulk Up for painful attacks, and ofc, Fish and GDarm. Fish wins here just for there sheer ease of use and breaking power it has, but the others are just too good to not consider to.

Especially since Volca has access to Giga Drain to keep itself sustained and to handle its Water weaknesses. As for against Togekiss and Noivern- I think it could handle Togekiss of course implying you don't fish for Flinches with Air Slash Togekiss or hit Hurricane on Noivern. Barring any and all accuracy checks is the one issue I could see with this set up that kinda leaves Volcarona behind. I don’t understand how you could call yourself a Pokémon channel and make a video about the strongest non-legendary status Pokémon and not even mention aegislash who was so strong it got banned from OU

    What i figured the list would've been was 1.Snorlax 2.Azumarill/Scizor 3.Gardevoir 4.Togekiss/Rotom 5.Excadrill 6.Aegislash 7.Mimikyu/Toxapex and 8.Galarian Darmanitan,but i suppose it was just based on the base stat totals

Um, I don't really agree with the fact that you have pokemon such as arcanine as the best pokemon for kanto as other pokemon that might have lower basestats are actualy way stronger, for example clefable is better in every way. But great job even if I don't agree with the picks I did find the video fun and thats like the most important part

I have to say, I love this channel, as in accurate as this video was. It has really unique concepts and is excellently scripted. That said I'd like to go on a small rant about your choices here.
Gen 1: Arcanine isn't even that good, it's a jack of all trades master of none. It's been UU and below consistently in every gen. I'd vote for alakazam, Snorlax or gengar for here. Also stealth rocks 25%'s it, meaning it either has to throw away alot of health or not be able to use an item that helps it.
Gen 2: Crobat isn't that good. Stealth rocks again, and it's outclasses by a few things. Crobat isn't bad at all but it certainly isn't top tier. Scizor, tyranitar or skarmory are the one I'd nominate for this. Scizor hits like a truck with technician boosted STAB priority bullet punch and bug bite deals alot of damage too. Skarmory is the life and soul of many stall teams till gen 8, at which point it's still very important for UU stall teams. Tyranitar is decently strong, it dominated with Excadrill long ago but it lost a lot of viability with the loss of pursuit and being outclassed by hippowdon.
Gen 3: Milotic? Really? It's a good bulky water but not top tier at all. Salamence was overwhelmingly good in gen 3 so that's one I'd choose but there are more it has fallen out quite a bit in the past years, Metagross is also good but it got the same thing as salamence, Blaziken is actually one that has gotten significantly better nowadays, only because of speed boost(well and mega). Overall gen 3 has multiple amazing mons but none that stood up to the test of time. Remind me if I'm missing something good.
Gen 4: Gen 4 has many good tier mons. Garchomp and togekiss are both mons I love and are really good. Air slash and support is amazing. And garchomp has an excellent speed, attack and movepool. So yeah, good choice.
Gen 5: this gen was the start of the rapid power boost of Pokemon, everything started being too powerful and volcarona, as good as it is. Was not the best. It's got everything going for it, good stats, a powerful movepool, it's ability was ok, and it had a good boosting move but stealth rocks takes it down to half health, which you can ignore with boots but now you can't use a choice item or life orb. Ferrothorn and Excadrill were the best by far, ferrothorn is still one of the best stall mons along with corviknight and sand rush Excadrill was even banned from ou in BW. Even without sand rush Excadrill dominated with sand force and mold breaker. Overall Excadrill gets the win here.
Gen 6: Greninja is by far the best mon in gen 6 along with aegislash, and both are still amazing, aegislash has the advantage of being able to switch between a tank and a glass cannon any time it wishes to. While Greninja gets STAB on every move. Which is invaluable, overall Greninja is definitely better, especially as aegislash is at the bottom of ou as of now. Noivern is decent but nowhere near top tier. With good stats but ok movepool a subpar ability and nothing special.
Gen 7: Toxapex is the god of stall and is one of the best mons in gen 7, mimikyu is also really good being able to survive something important and being able to waste an enemy's dynamax/ Z-Move if predicted right. Of course it's not as good anymore as Z-moves don't exist and it's ability is also nerfed. Golisopod is really good but has a terrible ability which holds it back considerably.
Gen 8:the meta is still changing so I can't say but corviknight, dragapult and a few others are really good as of now
