I was hoping someone would mention Beer Worm. It's a clone of this one and also happens to be a Finnish game! Only "Snake" game I know of where you get drunk.
I'm from Finland and remember everyone playing this in like '95. It was a very popular game, especially since games like this went around in a floppy or two. Pizza Worm, Triplane Turmoil, Death Rally, Ryssän Kauhu, Alien Phobia, Wings, Liero, Rally Sport... Good times.
I do the same thing at school, LGR. I'm in middle school, and we have laptops. I bring USBs full of games like DOOM, Wolfenstein, and Jazz Jackrabbit for my friends to get, then they give them to their friends.
ah, those were the days. I remember we had old computers with floppy drives, a kid got in trouble for leaving a diskette in the drive and the librarian found it - with its rather unsavory contents (for a kid) ;) Lmao like 3 adult jpegs
This is so simple and fun to watch. Very relaxing indeed. I was born much later so our free time at high school was all about playing Quake 3 and Starcraft.
Had a buddy in highschool that worked in the computer department. He showed me how to access the server/ network drive. Suffice to say, Quake and Quake 2 were ALWAYS installed, even after being removed every week.
I had the same responsibility at school for installing DOS based software on their computers. I used to do exactly the same thing of installing cool shit to play nicely hidden from the Faculty. Oh happy days....
I loved this game when I was younger. The zany sound effects, the droning music, the hypnotic neon colors. I still go "I'm hungryyyy" and "num num" once in a while because of this game :D
Reminds me of the free to play in browser snake eat other snake games. Every time I visit my sister's family her husband and kids are always playing it; it really makes me want to recommend to them a real game they could play(not to put pizza worm down, I'm sure it was great in it's time, and still could be fun, it's just there's so many better things out there now). I almost gave them a gamecube for Christmas, but my sister said that she doesn't want to turn them into gamers. The unfortunate truth is they basically are absorbed in games, it's just nonsense free to play games that target young children. Anyway, I guess I shouldn't try to install Diablo or Doom or something else for them, but it's very tempting when I visit to want to do something like that.
I used to play another game like this made by a Finn, possibly the same guy, called Drug Worm. It was more or less exactly like this, only you ate pills instead of pizza and the more you ate, the wobblier the snake got and (IIRC) the more colourful and distorted the screen got. It was amazing, and certainly an almost good influence for a 8 year old to be playing.
Another game I remember - I think I had an earlier version that had Adlib music in the background (although it did have the digitized sound effects). Either way, it played the same, so I was definitely touched by the joys of the worm.

I remember in Business class we all played Doom with LAN multiplayer. Sometimes I would even put my homework and stuff on there and others would ummmm borrow it.

Nice to see a game from the great Finnish freeware scene of the nineties on the show. A topic very dear to me. Many of the most memorable ones sadly are only in Finnish, so most of the world is out of luck there, but this is a great one indeed.

The music was way simpler in those versions but they live in my heart since that! Someone please tell me the names of those songs!

Have you played Wings or Auts, or any other classic dos cave fly-and-shooters of the sort? Wings especially was an endless source of enternaintment for my friends and me, and it has a great soundtrack. They were popular around the same time as Pizza Worm.
Did an older version of this have different music? I thought maybe it was the music to Alfred Hitchcock Presents, or maybe it was just a weird dream / false memory??

I think i played this game on the Amiga!... it inspired me to create another game called traps... rather dead now but i could probably upload it some place. it works with dosbox. however i never got the audio work again...
funny you mention doom, because i just somehow broke my computer from running doom at too high of a resolution and now whenever i run doom, it gives me dos graphics as apposed to the smoothed graphics of the GZdoom source port, and it has the Zdoom version of up and down look, not the GZdoom, i know what your thinking, why should you care about my problems, but i find it weird that after doing whatever i did its as if im running Zdoom engine as apposed to GZdoom (GZ is a upgraded version of Z)
Haha I was in charge of the computers too back in the mid 90s for school. It was great if I got in school suspension the technology teacher would come and take me out saying he needed help. I would then mess around on the one 386 dos box we had and the one decent mac we got to mess around with the quickcam.
You know what's really messed up? When I was a kid, I had this game on a floppy disk which also had a short clip of porn. This game was a decoy. (No internet porn back then lol) So when I saw the intro screen, I automatically went "oh yeah I remember this game!"
The two high school games for me were Quake 2 demo (patched up with the deathmatch maps) and Elastomania. I failed the computer programming class because I just didn't do any work. The low latency of a lan was too good to pass up. Fun thing is that I'm a software engineer now.
I just got a couple of Dell XPS T600r systems the other day and put Win98 on one, and have been reliving the DOS and Win9x days. I found this game online and gave it a go. Did you ever play the shareware game "Castle of the Winds?"

Pizza Worm must become a character in Casino Cop. I mean, Coconut Pizza is there too, so why should Pizza Worm be excluded? ...I'm sad that the Casino Cop series will probably never be a thing.
we were a quake 1 crowd in HS. Computer science class, we would do our work quickly and then play the rest of the class. We each had the game on a CD. That and some duke 3d in another class.
You know that Fuse came out 2013? It's not much of a retro game. You can check out other sites or channels for that game. I don't think LGR will be reviewing it in the next 20 years, if even that.
I used to set up computers in highschool in 95 or 96. We also ran all of the cabling for the schools computers in the mornings before school. It's crazy how things have changed.

Had this game back then and it was fun. There's another weird game similar to this called BeerWorm. You should definitely try that as well. It's freeware I think and it's MS-DOS.
