I do this quite a lot from the kayak it tends to catch the bigger fish. I've found the dotera bakus are really good for it. Also the dr evil deep divers work well in 7-8m.

Using a down rigger is the way to go.

Yeah mate wanted to avoid that and just try using the baku weight but need another person on board to start with haha
