- Jocelyn and I were heading to Santa Fe for a conference and we are taking you along with us... well at least along with us for the morning of traveling there. From getting up at 3am to the drive, flights, and airport fun, here is a day in our life of traveling... without the kids. You asked for a travel vlog, and we are delivering for you!

I know that representations of people and couples on the internet are generally idealised and situationally manipulated by the presence of a camera but the rapport between you both is wonderful to see. Omg. Like Jocelyn, my husband does the plane touch when he’s boarding. I’ve never seen anyone else do that.
I think I saw her do the sign of the cross prior to touching the airplane. I never get on a plane unless I say a prayer and then I always touch the plane also. I believe that God hears our prayers.
She made the sign of the cross on the plane; something the family has always done since she was a little girl. ❤

The leaking water bottle reminded me of my dumbest travel mistake ever. When traveling from Cologne to Berlin, I decided to bring a bottle of water with me from my hotel. Water there comes in glass bottles, so I packed it in my carry on to make sure it wouldn’t break. It made it all the way to my hotel in Berlin, but when I put my luggage down in my room, my roller bag fell onto my carry on, inundating my bag with water and glass shards as the bottle shattered. Thankfully the hotel staff were great about helping me clean up the mess. I tried to comfort myself with the thought that at least it was just water and not wine, but it was an epic fail on my part that I never want to repeat.

I always pray before the plane takes off and give thanks to God when we land.
Mee Mee my mom and my grandma did the same whenever they took the train or even the bus, they were fearless buy were by God’s side too🙏🏻

Thank you. I hate all the intro stuff on videos. I have channels i start and just skip right to the 1:30 mark because i know its, hook, long intro, branded title, sub and like, contest, then finally content.
Have you guys ever thought of Geocaching? Particularly with kids in tow, it is treasure hunting -- finding (on GPS & Gmaps) the "X' that marks the spot. I have been traveling full-time for over 15 years, since my wife passed and my daughters started Uni and their own lives. In over ten years, I, sometimes along with fellow local cachers, have found over 300 caches in over 55 countries. You get to see things you might otherwise not see - a park, a part of town, the woods... It's easy to spend an afternoon in a strange city somewhere tracking down caches all over town.

we tried to do more vlogs for a time but the vlog videos would get 1/4 or 1/5 of the views (which meant fellow travelers did not like them) and they took a lot more effort to do as we prefer to do the stuff ourselves and then tell our audience about it and use B roll instead of having the camera rolling the whole time. Then we don't get to enjoy the experience as much. And editing this one down took way longer than i expected :)
@@woltersworld That is surprising..I always taught that people love travel vlogs (myself including). All those videos with plane and train rides seem to be getting a ton of views on YT. Anyways, I love your channel! You guys (plus Kara and Nate) are by far my favorite people on YT!

Haha! I love Jocelyn's pre-flight ritual of the sign of the cross and touching the outside of the plane! I started holding my breath as I walk through the plane's doorway for good luck. Nice to know that even avid travelers are as scared of flying as I am! :)

When I have an early morning flight I expect that I will not remember anything. So not only do I have my bags ready to go, I lay out my clothes, phone, wallet, passport, anything I need in one spot so I can grab and go without thinking.
Also, great tip on checking bags on regional flights!

I love the face you made when Caleb said love you too. I'm a terribly deep sleeper and always sleep in, so I'm sure there's times I didnt respond to my dad who traveled for work and often lived away for months or years at a time. I hope sometimes I said bye properly and it made him that happy.

Regarding the airport bathrooms ; unless you go before you go, you'll need to go while you go.
This was a nice change of pace, and totally relatable. We've done that 6am BMI to ATL run a few times as well. Only difference I noticed was finding coffee before hitting the road is a must for us!

I hate early mornings but that just means more time at the destination. As a side note, I love Jocelyn's purse.
This was great! You're not sucky vloggers at all! What's sucky is never being able to book direct flights anymore! I'm 40, so just old enough to remember taking direct flights from NY's LaGuardia to Houston and Miami in the 80s. Regular trips for us. Technically, Miami was a stop, as we were going to Eleuthera, Bahamas, but only because the airport there was not big enough for bigger planes. I got used to layovers on basically any flight from or to NY, but they were in Chicago or Charlotte. Now, it's way too common to go from NY to NOLA, with a layover in Denver. It makes already long, stressful travel days worse! So, yay for hotels that let you check in early! Jocelyn, your hair looks awesome curled! Going to check out your Mystic/New England videos now. Headed there for Thsnksgiving. Some videos about traveling, in general not specific locations, during shoulder and off seasons would be great! Early fall and early spring are my favorite times to travel. Insanely cheaper and no crowds!

Atlanta's Hartsfield airport is quite large, and they have rapid trains from terminal to terminal. When the voice in the tram tells you to hold on....they mean it.
I'm taking an airplane for the first time since before TSA. I've watched a lot of your videos to get ready, and burn off nervous energy.
I love flying in and out of the Bloomington, IL airport....so easy, and who doesn’t love Tony!?!? 😃 I fly Delta 99.9% of the time and unfortunately always have to go through Atlanta to get anywhere, I miss the flight through Minneapolis!
