As someone that lives in Turks and Caicos, your video is pretty accurate. However, we do not add tax on groceries. Most local restaurants that are not in the “tourist areas” also do not add tax. Also, you can party at some local bars but I would suggest going to bars in the Grace Bay Area eg. Shisha Lounge, Blu Bar, Danny Bouys and the Ritz Carlton just to name a few. I also would say visit Grand Turk either on a cruise or book a flight for the day and enjoy that island. You will get a more local experience in Grand Turk as opposed to Provo but both are amazing to see.

no businesses in T&C add tax on the bills. that is the entire marketing campaign of the islands - that there is "no tax". but that is misleading. the taxes are simply applied ahead of time - everything that is imported into the islands is charged a 30% import tax.

I’m kind of surprised that, unless I missed it somehow, it wasn’t mentioned that there is NO SMOKING on the beaches BY LAW. I absolutely love this, because I’m there for the smell of salt water… not someone’s Marlboros. If you’re at a resort and someone lights up on the chairs next to you, let an attendant know. This is illegal. If you can’t enjoy a day at the beach without smoking, there are plenty of other beautiful places to go.

T & C is the most expensive vacation I have ever went on. they proudly advertise that there are no taxes there, yet the reality is that there is a 30% tax on everything that is imported into the islands, which is almost everything. as a couple, every time we sat down for lunch it was %$50 US. dinners were $150. my other complaint about T & C is the amount of litter and neglect. full cases of empty beer bottles all over the sides of the roads. and several of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been on completely covered in plastic debris washed in from the ocean and apparently no organized effort to clean it up. T & C has the most amazing blue water anywhere in the world, some of the most incredible beaches I gave been to... but the level of neglect sadly made it a heart breaking place to visit.

I visited Turks and Caicos in January 2020. There was a small marathon, just 21 of us and I came in 2nd place. I remember liking Grace Bay so much that I was actually disinterested in the marathon. But that said 13 miles was in the dark with potholes and the other 13 miles was in blazing sun. We ended up running on the left being British and running on sidewalks for safety.
Besides the road race I swam in the beach and in the lazy River at The Sands Resort. I had a private room facing the ocean. It was nice having 85°F weather in January. I want to go back, despite the cost. $$$$

How is it with Covid testing to get back to us? Do they test at airport or only paid locations? Thanks

Here's another... Don't go on a Provo Ponies horse. Those horses have very troubled pasts. It might seem cool and of course it has great Trip Advisor reviews, but know you are not going on a normal trail horse. I've been on plenty of trail rides in the past in other places that went fine, but I seriously could have been killed on one of the Provo Ponies. The horses walk on a cement road with traffic to get to the beach. Most of the horses *do not* get along. My horse didn't like that the guides horse was near him and bucked me up and then threw me over his head. I was thrown onto the cement where there was *traffic*. I literally could have been hit by a car. Not only that, he stepped on my ankle as he ran off. As I said before, these are not normal horses. Don't risk ruining your vacation like I did. I'm happy to be alive but I have thousands in medical bills now and ruined my vacation. Total disaster. You also can *not* get a flight back to the US when you need it.

Thank you for the good video. I have never heard before from "Turks and Caicos". After watching your video it is clear for me that I will never go there. I can get the same for example in the DomRep for a fraction of the price. Why getting massively ripped off on this island and feeling happy about it?

Thanks for the Turkey flags it reminded me to look up why it has the name. Google says Turks may come from a local fez shaped cactus. And Caicos is a Lucayan word for string of islands.

Thanks for the video and all the tips. I know some very excluded places in the NJ Pinelands that I can drive to for relaxation. Much cheaper and the same if not more relaxing because spending a lot of money here would create stress. I also can sit by the beach in NJ and check out all the babes in swimwear while I relax. turquoise, conks, don't need that. I can eat fresh seafood from the waters around NJ in the ocean, and DE Bay. No customs, no flights. I live 30 miles west of Atlantic City. Come here to South Jersey, much more fun!
