As a side note... That whole thing of making the ground sand become fluid is an actual real world phenomena. Basically, by pumping air up through the bottom of a collection of sand, you can make the grains slightly separate and able to move around each other more easily, making the sand flow like a liquid.
The channels Mark Rober and Physics Girl both have very interesting videos about it if you'd like to know more.

    • @williansnobre
      @williansnobre 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

I like to imagine that the Sand Sea that the Jhen and Daren Moran swim in are a natural occurrence of this.
Maybe deep under some areas of the deserts there are rows of gas vents from volcanic activity that cause the sand to acquire that fluidity effect.

So... something like that fracking thing oil companies do?

    • @haniyasu8236
      @haniyasu8236 ปีที่แล้ว

@@rovalero2 not really. Fracking is all about pumping pressurized fluids down underground to break apart rock to release all the little bits of oil held inside, it doesn't really do sand fluidization

When you fight it with it's eyes closed, maybe it's because it's hunting you using sound. You move and your armor clanks, your weapons rub in their sheaths, you disturb the grains of sand enough that the thing can detect you. It's both hitting you with sound, which is air in motion, but it's also detecting motion in the air, doing a sort of passive sonar type of deal like wartime submarines can, or using echolocation to find you. Her attacks cause massive destruction, and that destruction creates sound, using the sound to form a 3-d image of where you are in relation to all the destruction she's causing.

-Eyes pierce straight through the camera at the player themselves
    -Colored like a lotus flower
-Chest cavity shaped like a lotus’s center
-Back spines are pink and petal-shaped/-textured
    -Almost wooden-textured limbs
-Has a third-eye imprint on its forehead
    -Opens eyes to show “enlightenment”
    -Face framed after “Asuras”
    -Blue references Devas
-Gold references other gods and divinity
-Armor and weapons directly reference the Buddha and Bodhisattvas
-Even the way Shara stands when it blasts apart its rock shell is related to the many-armed gods of Buddhism
    Other things:
    -Related to Valstrax
-Inhales large quantities of air through the chest cavity to blast through its wingarms
-Vibrates its wingtips in the ground to turn it into sand
-Flows air through that sand to pulverize it in such a way that it causes “liquefaction,” AKA quicksand conditions without water
-BLASTS air into the sand to cause bubbles that rupture when enough outward pressure is applied (player standing in it/Shara blasting it again)
-With it’s spirit bomb, it forces the energy of its mini-cyclone directly into the earth, causing it to collapse in on itself and send a shockwave through the liquefied ground, detonating all the pools at once

There are also a lot of references the decent of Anata(spl?) into the underworld. There are people who can explain it alot better than me but overall, Anata descends into the the underworld, ornately dressed and at each level she loses more and more items of clothing until she has nothing, at which point she is killed by her sister.
Kinda referncing how we break off Shara Ishvalda's rock shell till we can actually fight and kill it and the armor set bonus. You don a mantel and have a bunch of buffs applied. Kinda how Anata was not killed until she lost everything.
Again, I did a horrid job of explaining this but it is something that I really thought was neat. Originally heard it from Gajin Hunter and I bet this will come up in the next video Gajin Goombah does over Shara's equipment. Can't wait for the next video Goombah! Keep up the awesome work!

I'd do anything to relive that first experience fighting her (it may have also been the pain meds I was on, from getting my wisdom teeth removed literally days before Iceborne came out, that made that fight so incredible to experience)
Her eyes opening in phase 3 still makes me uneasy, the way they follow the camera watching us (the player). She knows the hunter isn't the threat. WE are. WE are the ones taking control of the tiny humans doing all they can to stop her. It's just a shame we don't get the actual satisfaction of killing her for good. Nergigante had to be the big bad there. I hope later down the line, either in the future of Iceborne's life or the next MonHun title, we get to see her, or a monster like her, again.

I feel like Shara Ishvalda's "wings" are also kind of reminicent of the multiple arm that Ashura and Deva sometimes posses. In its stone armor phase it mainly uses them to crush the hunters underneath its massive fingers in a what I think of as quite the Ashura-like approach while in its second phase it unleashes its "godlike" powers exclusively with them. No breath attacks to speak of which most other elder dragons use. Almost exclusively the hands of a god unleashing destruction by nothing more than sending out sound waves.

IIRC, either the Longsword or the Greatsword has a Vajra for a handle. The Vajra is weapon that the Bodhisattvas use to slay demons and purify the souls of the wicked.

The full armor set skill also has a connection to Buddhism... while wearing a Mantle it gives protection from small attacks, roars tremors etc...there was a story about a queen going to the underground and here clothing kept here protected from harm but longer she kept going the clothing started falling apart and breaking...the Armor has two versions...one with fully adorn jewels and the other with few jewels. Everything about that fight armor/weapons screams Buddhism which is awesome :)

Do Magatsu in PSO2. Trust me, you'll go nuts when you see him. It's already more than enough they have monsters that are knockoffs of Raijin and Fuijin as well as Wanyudo of all things, plus a whole ton of oni and this pair of thunder spirits called Tagami Kazuchi and Izane Kazuchi (who I imagine might be familiar to Monster Hunter fans, I've seen a similar looking dragon, Tobi-Kadachi I think it was?). Also the entire planet they're from has a Taoist motif, with the leader of the entire planet being a "divine maiden" and the antithesis to Magatsu, a deva to Magatsu being an asura (and they each embody the traits of deva and asura, I'm not just speaking metaphorically here). Magatsu even drops an item called "Shiva Ash Pyroxene" _SHIVA_ (Shiva is the name of a completely different character introduced in Episode 6 which isn't yet in the North American version btw)
Also the minimap in the second area of the Amduskia time attack forms left-facing [manji] like the one on that Buddah statue you showed in the video. Because even though Sega claims to support BLM, they clearly do not because BLM abhors [manji] in any form, left, right untilted, doesn't matter.

I would love to see you explore the common grounds between hindouism and bouddhism, that stuff is so fascinating. And i know just the game to speak about it, Asura's Wrath, maybe it was very much requested, but this stuff is nothing but a dense refference to tradition and cultures.
Always delighted to learn from your videos !
