    Oh, no, I bought a car, put a few miles on it, and now it's worth less!!!??? What a shock!
    1. New car sticker price is not the sale price. For example, my local Audi dealer called me earlier this year and offered $20k off list for a 2024 e-tron GT.
    2. USA has ev buying tax incentives that not-built-in-usa models have had to price match with discounts.
    3. It's looks like a great market for patient buyers :)

    From my friends experience, Porsche are currently being VERY unpleasant when it comes to warranty claims. It takes huge amounts of time to get your Taycan fixed, with poor parts availability, and the dealers fight like a cornered cat regarding culpability. So good luck there!

    I don’t think any EV will flatten out over time like ICE car. The battery life is the main issue here. Those cars are not worth much of anything when battery warranty expires (normally 8 to 10yrs) since you risk having to replace the battery at a very high cost. ICE cars on the other hand can still be very reliable after 8 to 10yrs and generally any issues does not cost anywhere close to what a battery will cost.

    • @peterhammer6915
      @peterhammer6915 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      You are wrong. Battery technology evolves all the time. At 8 years if you have to change battery, I would guess around 20k euro. Thats a no-brainer for a car, that is perfect to drive and looks fantastic. Especially gen1 is one of the most beautiful cars out there.

      Just my 5 cents. Owning several high performance cars starting 80's and now have had Taycan 4S from 2020 Aug. Taycan is still like 100% new in almost all the measures. Driven 70tkm total cost of service 600€ so far. No single issue after warranty expired (savings for me 3k€ not taken extended warranty) battery health, based my own calculations though, 95%-98%. If battery will be replaced after warranty, cost would be maybe 20k€ (small battery) and car has 60% less wearing parts than ICE so after new battery car will be like new. I'm not worried at all. Plus I have to say after owning Porsche and especially got rid of using fossil fuels, noise engine, oil changes + smell, warming up engine, visits to gas stations, etc, I smile and almost laugh every time after start to drive!

    • @proper_miles
      @proper_miles 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@peterhammer6915Nope. The digital technology is the issue. No one wants old, digital technology. These cars will stop being supported and the aftermarket won’t be there to support them. And saying “$20k to replace the battery” like that’s “a no brainer”… I mean, I can keep most classic cars running again for that kind of money, and they’ll actually be worth something. Spending $20,000 to maintain a $50,000 car is absurd. I’ve had far more valuable 10-20 year old ICE cars (Porsches and Ferraris) that didn’t need $20,000 to maintain them, AND they were all worth more than $50,000.

  • @mdaiosu

    I think the market is softer than the median numbers and 6 month taper are indicating here. I've been looking at preowned Turbo, Turbo S and GTS, and there is noticable compression of spreads between the model types across the same year and models, e.g. 2023 GTS similar MSRP listing at same price as a 2022 GTS both CPO and at the same pricing level of 2022 Turbo CPO. It's indicating overall softness of demand. I also use carsguru to get a sense how long inventory is sitting and many are well over 120 days.
    Particularly this time is difficult to move Taycans. Manufacturer is offering a $15k MSRP discount for 2024 cars on the lot and my dealer is saying most leases of 2024s are for people who ordered 2025s, so by late this year, the market will be flush with supply of gen 1 cars

    • @geraldh.8047
      @geraldh.8047 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Battery swaps are extremely expensive but also extremely rare. A battery that has survived the 8 year warranty period will be unlikely to have any major issues in the years following. Most battery issues in the past have not been degradation issues but often sealing issues leading to water ingress. If such an issue exists it will show up during warranty.
      Probably risky to buy a taycan that has achieved the mileage limit of the battery warranty in two years but I doubt many such cars exist.

    The used prices in the UK are still dropping £1000 to £2000 a month. As the cars get to 4 years and 5 years old with 50000 miles people who know the battery warranty is 50% GONE. Buyer beware. Nice car but could be a nasty and costly headache.

    I just can't get over the front design of this car. Quite ugly.

    Every time I see someone driving a car like this I think they are stupid. Unless they have a really good lease deal I would not want to do business with someone who drives a really high depreciating car. Driving a car like this is the equivalent of a woman with a lower back tattoo. I wonder what the bottom price of these cars are going to be. $19K?

    I personally love seeing EV prices crash, as it will slow sales further and allow ICE performance cars to keep being made longer. I've told my tree-hugger friends that if they must get an EV, YOU MUST LEASE IT!! Otherwise, you leave yourself open to huge loses, crappy build quality Tesla models included.

      Agreed. Buying an EV is pure stupidity because its a newer technology, so today's EVs are going to be very undesirable in a few years as the technology advances.

      @@Mezonator656 Ignorant? No, it's common sense that resale value on EVs is going to be in the dumpster because the technology is still in it's infancy. Nothing ignorant about that.

      @@Japplesnap infancy yes. But what more are you needing? You want the battery to fly you to your destination? Or plug it's self in at night? I use ev everyday and have no limits for the everyday driving and is way more advanced than gas.

    • @Japplesnap
      @Japplesnap 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Mezonator656 I don't need anything more because I haven't switched over to electric yet. Why? Because the technology will get much better and that will have a major negative impact on resale values. If anything, maybe leasing might make sense, but I'm not someone who leases, I pay cash and own my vehicles, usually keeping them for 8 years on average.

    Tesla is the best car company ever! No gas stations, No oil changes, No smog check, No corrupt dealership, No catalytic converter and as fast as a $650,000 Lamborghini.

      Hahahahaha cope. So glad I sold my model x before the value kicked the bucket.
      They are not as well rounded as ICE vehicles.
      They are not reliable in states or locations that get cold. Here in Denver we have experience below 0 temps the last 2 years, they depend on weather too much for reliability.
      They can get smoked by a $10,000 Honda Civic from the 90s with a laptop.
      Their customer experience is the worst I've experienced among the 9 different car brands I've had.
      When buying my X, I asked for a test drive and the Tesla employee told me, "we don't have cars to test, but you can go out to the charging station in the mall parking lot and ask someone to test drive their car. Lots of Tesla owners would be fine with that." 🤯Wtf?!
      People have finally realized how shit they are and how they have the worst depreciation in the car market (go google how much you can get a Model S Plaid for used. Cheap AF for a reason.)
      That's why Tesla stock is down over 31% so far this year. That's a massive number! 1/3 of the entire stock price gone in just 3 months while the rest of the market remains healthy.
