Old Navy gets a lot of well priced linen in the spring and summer. I see you found the Naadam sweater. Glorious, I have one. J. Crew sales get gorgeous merino sweaters.
Fabulous! Thankyou. What a lot of work you have put into this video. I am in England but my sister lives in Florida. She loves Boden and shops at Nordstrom. So this perfect!
Deirdre absolutely beautiful. Love this look for fall. Such fun new things to try. Thank you for all your hard work to put these beautiful videos together for us. We love you. Thank you again. Blessings Hugs Love Victoria and Barbara ❤️❤️❤️
Thoroughly enjoyed this video in fact all your videos, just lovely as are you. I must just add that anything you wear looks expensive and classy, it's who you are.
I’ve just caught up with this video this morning. Fabulous yet again. I’m currently in Spain and heading home to UK today and already visualising what I currently have in my wardrobes to create these looks for the autumn. Thank you 😘
As usual, Dee, you've inspired me! I went straight to my closet and brought out a beautiful Liz Claiborne cardigan from the late 1980's. I bought it when I was a teen in high school and I worked at a high end store and had a very nice employee discount! I had forgotten about this beautiful cardigan, and now it's new to me again!!! You are always an inspiration and I LOVE your videos!
@@50FabulouswithMyFriendDeirdre Dee, I think you should do a video that reminds women that they don't need to buy new, they need to do what I've done and go through the closets and find new things all over again. I did buy some new things this year, per your suggestions, such as white shorts, a white cami top and just when I was about to buy gold sandals, I REMEMBERED that I already owned a pair, very old, but still beautiful and wearable. Your fashion suggestions are TOP NOTCH, and have changed my life for the better, taking me out of sweat pants and Tshirts to the fashionable woman I was 3 years ago, with clothes I already own. YOU ARE FANTASTIC!!!
@@Bassingal Aww, that's so incredibly kind of you. I am really touched because this is what drives me onwards with my videos: to feel that I can help and inspire women of our age to look and feel fabulous in a way that is right for them. As you say, we often have many of the pieces in our wardrobes already and they just need to be reworked a little. I like your idea of a video that reminds us of this. I will look into it. Thank you so much and lots of love to you. XX
Just a note, I live near the Hampshire coast and even during the summer the wind can be a little chilly.. so these type of autumn clothes are also used on summer evenings or very late late spring.. I have a pretty knit cream knitted beret I got from accessorise and I have a cashmere camel wrap ( just an Amazon thing) that goes with me for coastal and doggy walks. Also a real ‘uniform’ is a long sleeveless puffer gilet over a knit or even a stripey Breton top for chiller summer evening. I got a gorgeous bronze coloured one from Amazon.. another little tip i love and see quite regularly is a teensy bit of bling, so a camel jumper with sone gold thread running through. I’ve also got an old dotty P’s pale gold shimmery jumper which I wear under my gillet. It’s so pretty when it hits the intense light you get near the coast.
Hallo Deirdre, so glad I found your Channel...like your style so much. You always look so nice and so put together ! And you show us, that all that can be without spending that much money. I love that you are down to earth !! Looking forward to each of your videos.. Lots of love from Germany...
I love all the things you wear just inspiration all of the time I do love coastal gran out fits very classy and simple ,love that Thanks Deirdre for helping us all with style.💓💓
Thank you, lovely outfits. I have always loved whites, creams, beige, camel & browns but the last few years ventured to bright fuchsia, pinks & turquoise . I think I'm going back to my roots now to wonderful autumnal colours.
I am really enjoying this series! You really put the glam into the coastal grandmother look, and I absolutely love that! It looks flattering, comfortable, pulled together, and yet stylishly fabulous too! Wonderful video! (I don't wear this style, but am going to shop my closet to put some looks together.) Thank you, Deirdre!!
I love these looks, I wear white or ivory year-round. I like the relaxed fit of the chinos, it’s very on-trend. Tighter fitting pants are the old silhouette. The beaches where I live are so cold that a coat is always required to visit them. Last time I went I wore my white puffer, but next time I think I’ll wear my new RL quilted sand color jacket, or my navy wool pea coat. 🙂
I love white/ivory through the whole year too. So effortlessly elegant. I love quilted jackets for walks by the sea. I'm sure you look lovely in yours. XX
I love the CG look and its been a part of my life for years along with bono and vintage. I love thrift ing and most of my items are either thrift ed or bough at discount stores such as TJ Maxx and Marshall's I love loafers and wear them often. Great job on the video!
Marvellous ideas. Just as I was wondering how to transition my coastal gran. summer looks to fall/autumn, along comes Deidre with some brilliant ideas! Now I don't have to put away my coastal Grandma look until next May 😊! Note: I live 30 miles west of Lake Michigan, so my summer CG look was a Great Lakes iteration of the 'coastal' look - similar white linen pants, tan linen pants, white tees, blue chino shirt, blue tees, a cream/ white Ralph Lauren chunky cotton sweater (which was far too warm to wear except by the Lakeshore), tan bag, grey/white sneakers.
Another great video od yours! It's tough to choose the best outfit - all of them are fantastic!😍 I'm hesitating between number 4 and 5. Can't really decide. I"m surely going to recreate them. Thank you Deirdre ❤️
Love the ribbing design on the Ted Baker sweater! Also this pearl earrings! I have a long beige cashmere cardigan! That will work. The fall look is easy to do for me as I have lots of the items. My mother’s cashmere sweater collection, which I inherited. Will look for a pair of loafers. Right, I need more shoes! Haha! Got some nice Charlie B chinos in a cinnamon colour last fall. So it will be a shop your closet fall adventure. Picking my travel capsule for my trip to UK and Ireland in October! Starting the list! Stay well!
That all sounds wonderful, Hallie! That's one of the great things about this style of dressing. You probably have many of the items already! Take care. XX
Hi dear Deirdre! These outfits are perfect for autumn and almost all of us have similar items that we could wear. This makes me think of a theme for a future video. It would be interesting to know how to incorporate timeless or classic pieces of clothing in a modern way. Love your channel, Deirdre! Bye. 🐚🌊

Hello there. I just found your channel and I was just wondering what the coastal grandmother fashion styling would be for the fall/winter. It looks like I will be putting away my linen trousers and wear my new pair of chinos I just purchased from J.Crew. I have all the elements that you showed here in my wardrobe except for the ribbed turtleneck which I have been wanting to get for awhile. Thanks for your styling ideas and inspiration. You are fortunate to live near some beautiful scenery.
I love your blue and white vertical striped button down blouse. Any suggestions as to where I can find one? Sounds like an easy find but many I've found aren't quite "It" if you know what I mean
No!! I don't get much time! Thank you so much for the compliment though - much appreciated! I hope you have received your prize. I will email you. Lots of love. XX
Thanks Deirdre!! As always I really enjoy your videos. If you do loafers and it's fall, what kind of socks do you wear??? I'm hoping you'll tell us as very few people address socks! It gets cold AND wet! LOL!!
I'm wondering the same thing! I love the fit of loafers, and, myself being from German ancestry, I wear socks and sandals all year. Here in Texas, we have such a short winter that you see people wearing shorts, boots and a sweat shirt because we just can't figure out our weather!
@@Bassingal I had to laugh at this. My husband worked in Dallas for almost 2 years. Absolutely love your videos, however is there a white linen shirt that is not so expensive. I do appreciate you giving us different price ranges, however having a hard time with the linen shirt ..keep the videos coming ❤️
Love your videos but was wondering why don't you wear your slacks ankle length or shorter? I cuff my skinny jeans and wear my pants above the ankle due to everything I see. I thought I was being fashionable and smart, now I'm questioning my style. 😘 Keep the wonderful videos coming, you are truly someone older fashionistas can look to for inspiration.
Hi Jody. Thank you for your comments and questions. Firstly, yes you are fashionable and smart! One reason why I wear my trousers longer is that I am short (5'4") and I feel that a longer line trouser elongates my legs more than if I had them shorter. Please don't question your style! It's important that everyone does what feels right for them. Take care and lots of love. XX
Outfit 4 is ME! I do have a question about cardigans What is the correct length for different heights and sizes of women? I tend to go with just hip length I’m 5’8” Not sure about the calf length They seem to cut the legs off What do you think? I value your opinion😘
Hi Terri. I think it depends of course, on your height as to what looks in proportion. I have to say that I am only 5'4" and I love long cardigans, almost to the ankle as they seem to elongate the figure. As you are 5'8", I think you can get away with many lengths. Hip length is good but the longer the cardigan, the more fitted the trousers need to be. Otherwise, there is too much material. So, it also depends on how you like to wear your trousers. If you like fitted ones, you can wear a cardigan that';s pretty long. If you wear wider trousers, I would stop at the hip with your cardigan. I hope that helps and isn't too confusing!! XX
Hi Sue. I'm with you here! However, I always think that this is about style and you definitely don't have to be a grandmother or live near the coast to achieve it. XX
Hey Kimberly! I've been inspired by her fashion guidance to raid my own closet, week after week, and I've 'found' a dozen outfits that match what Dee is talking about. I'm 54, so I have a huge wardrobe dating back to the 1980's and I'm so glad I still have these pieces. She's reminded me of so many clothes that I've put away that can be brought back out from the back of the closet!
Thank you Kimberly and Bassingal. I really appreciate your comments and feedback. I try to make things easy for you by researching to provide information on the screen rather than by viewers having to dig around in the video description.
