Nice job Paul, the amount of screws and clips I've had to replace due to them been rusty! I want to do a shout out to Mrs Life on Cars due to her always letting you use the kitchen table! I never get that privilege! 😂
Enjoy watching you work on this car, it's refreshing to see a TH-camr who actually does a proper and thorough job. So far your the only one, please keep it up!
I am just amazed that you can still get new gaskets and foam rubber strips from the manufacturers. Try getting parts like that for an eleven year old Citroen! Quality obviously wins every time. Very neat job - looks great.

Can't get that stuff for any Mercedes. All 'no longer available'.
Weirdly satisfying when you do something that makes part of the car that nobody will see ( behind the lights) into as new condition. Not to mention making the lights look good as new on the outside. Another really superb job - as befits a Rolls Royce!
Wow, I wasn't expecting such a massive transformation, achieving perfect alignment with sparkling components really does makes this Rolls look showroom fresh. Excellent work, right down to replacing the old screw with a new chrome one. You've managed to take years off it....and I will never tire of seeing that gorgeous paint colour, I think it's what makes this Rolls stand out, it looks so elegant and sophisticated. Well done! 👍 😎
Fantastic detail to work you have there, you will have the best original RR in the country the way you are going, I always found that osram night breaker H4 head light bulbs gave of the best light
Well done, Paul. Another great vid. Attention to detail is so good!!!!! Man after my own heart. I used to spend "unneccessary" hours just to make the job look just right.
Another amazing job done. I can't believe you can still get the gasket seals. I much prefer the rectangular headlights on the Rolls Royce, to the round ones seen more on Bentley's. The front end now looks fantastic and very regal.
What a satisfying job! Well done Paul. I love the way such items on this car can be dismantled down to individual components, cleaned and reassembled with new gaskets and bulbs. Try doing that on most mass produced cars of today! As ever, IntroCar have been brilliant throughout.
Dear Paul: Another great video on the RR Spur III. My Mulsanne S has the first year "back" of the 4 round bulbs for 1989, which are interestingly fog lamps on the interior closest to the grill, and high/low beams on the outside, not 4 separate headlamps. I went to the garage to have a look at them after watching you, but fortunately they seem fine. Here in the middle USA we are still digging out from literally one foot of snow last Sunday. It was a little warmer this morning and I opened the garage door and ran my car in the garage a while to warm up the engine and move the car a little forward and back to use the brakes and pressure up the braking system. But it may otherwise be a while before we have dry clear roads to drive on. Patience is a virtue, but it can also be a necessity! Keep up the great channel. -Bobo KC
Getting the Rolls-Royce ready for warmer weather. The foam inserts for the headlamp seals I definitely would keep, for you already found a use for them!! It looks absolutely fantastic, great job!
I just want to say that you are amazed at the quality of the pieces of trim. When new, this was a very expensive vehicle, manufactured in low numbers, practically hand-built. So of course, Rolls-Royce would demand high quality for each and every piece installed on their motorcars.
Great job done well. I miss not having the glass headlamp lens as trying to keep plastic lens is a never ending job. For easy gasket removal I use label remover from Aerosol Solutions, it's great as I also use it as a degreaser before doing paintwork.
Great work. I always like to freshen up head and tail lights on my cars. No one does it, but it really is rewarding and sharpens up those visual angles. Thanks for getting this Rolls up to snuff!!
The Rolls is a good as new, and should deliver many years of trouble free driving. Yes, it's near impossible to stop the clock as cars age, but at least is can be slowed with efforts such as this. A well engineered car seems to be a much wiser and sound investment than these new cars which end up in the wrecking yard literally months after they were manufactured. Sure, they are more efficient, but are they any greener in the long run? I can't see it.
Wonderful. If someone buys a Spirit your series of videos on bringing it back to life should be compulsory viewing. Once you're done with the car please go find a shadow and do the same again.
That little extension loom for the inner bulbs is because the main loom has connectors for the dual sealed beam units - rectangular for the USA Rolls models, round for the Bentleys.
Crikey, exciting Sunday, headlamp restoration 😂 hope to see the mot sheet soon, get it on the road and drive it like it needs to be. Took my Sprit II out today never knew it had an ice warning. Very alarming as it just stays on all the time in red - ICE
Brilliant use of the extra material for those seals! I looked at the stuff and thought, "I'd use that as a 'floor' for one of my single board computer (e.g. Raspberry Pi) projects." I recall repainting the reflectors on my 1977 Lancia Beta...wishing...that someone would invent reflectors with a mirror surface. Such as yours! Even new, my German-spec Lancia headlamps worked like...wax candles. Utter rubbish... So help me, I think the sealed-beam U.S. spec versions were probably better. That MOT is in the bag now! Aloha!
What a difference! Well done. I was wondering if H4 LED headlights are legal in the UK. PIAA makes a nice LED product. I have retrofitted a few of my cars in the US with LED headlights and it is a big difference. In your case, due to the prominence of the Rolls, I would not have done that, as some modifications to the dust boots, etc would be required.
Another job well done but I personally would have changed your bulbs to led bulbs it gives the vehicle a more modern look and also you can see better in the dark.
@@life_on_cars *fortunately* illegal - they're technically illegal in the US too unless they're used in headlights designed for them but the LED manufacturers get away with it by marking them 'for off-road use only' in small print.
37 degrees celcius in the shade, 99.9 % humidity and if you leave tools in the sun you can't touch them after a couple of minutes. It's not all rainbows and lollipops over here in aus 🤣
You somehow just seem to be successful in going into the unknown. If that was me I’d have broken a clip, then had to source a replacement and then have trouble re-fitting 😬
This comment will be a little too late for what you’re working on but if you do it again, you may consider LED lights they draw less energy they’re brighter and not as much heat so it would be easier on the headlight chrome just a suggestion
Another enjoyable video Paul, I'll be sorry when the Rolls project is finished.
Don't worry I think this will continue to be a Rolling Restoration even when it's back on the road.. Rolling ! 😉😊🇬🇧😅

Ha ha I do push my luck

THAT WAS A GREAT HEADLIGHT RESTORATION TUTORIAL ❤ 😊
Thanks 🇬🇧
Great job , I like your attention to detail little jobs that don't cost a fortune but make a big difference

👍😉🇬🇧😊
First class job as always, this is going to be one well sorted rolls when finished, just love your videos, always well explained.
So happy you're still posting this series. The Spirit is the best looking Roller.
Fantastic detail to work you have there, you will have the best original RR in the country the way you are going, I always found that osram night breaker H4 head light bulbs gave of the best light
brilliant job as always, loving this car
Neat job
Brilliantly thorough job. I swear the front of your Rolls has a brighter smile than before.
It's the little jobs like these that make all the difference. Love the vids and subscribed.
Thanks so much 😊
Another class thorough job! Love your episodes every Sunday 🤩
Well done, Paul. Another great vid. Attention to detail is so good!!!!! Man after my own heart. I used to spend "unneccessary" hours just to make the job look just right.
Excellent video found it so relaxing to watch.

Top job as usual Paul. In many respects being hand built makes them easier to work on. Modern robot built cars would not be as easy as that.
Wat a change! Beautiful
Excellent vid love this project
Awesome, super satisfying work Paul.
Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it

Great job and looking so much better.

Brilliant job as usual (pun intended) 💡👍😎
Excellent job!
Great work and video as usual, but the moment that new main beam bulb touched the back of your hand it had my OCD worrying off the scale!! 😄
Magic!

Tip from Millyard; cut the centre out of your gasket material before the outline!
Job's a goodun.
Happy New Year 🍾 buddy
Thanks and you too😉
Great job!

The sponge trim ,just looks like draft excluder for doors.

After doing the front headlamps are you now going to give the rear light clusters the same treatment!
Most likely I won't be able to resist
Great vlog 👀👍 How’s those white wall tyres coming along 😏👀🦘
Still waiting for stock !

Unfortunately illegal in UK

When is the MOT, I want to see it on the road
Soon. Maybe March time
That was a good yjomg cpu did.
Can the paint inside the lamp generate fumes thats harm the reflector?
Doubt it

Lucas lamp?
Yes
Awesome job cleaning them up but I was wondering if you ever considered going for the round headlamp conversion kit.🙂
I think Square is more classy
Rectangular @@life_on_cars
I have noticed that the front bumper blade is in contact with the bodywork on the n/s (passenger) under the headlamp assembly.
Yeah it's had a nudge I think on that side
Right indicator fitment seems to be a bigger gap at the top .
That's hand built cars feature 😊
Rusty screws on a Rolls... Unbelievable!!!
Someone had lost the original
You somehow just seem to be successful in going into the unknown. If that was me I’d have broken a clip, then had to source a replacement and then have trouble re-fitting 😬

And get a can of gt 85 ffs before you tackle any of these old bolts!!!!
