We all know Sunset Wilds is last
You mean sunshit milds?
@@TriCraft1innit
It's still a good track.
Yeah I still love it, one of the better looking ones in the BCP. But I was disgusted on my first play through. A GBA could do it and not a switch?
Day Wilds??
Fun fact, A mk8 modder was able to fix sunset wilds’ sunset feature in LESS than 24 Hours, Nintendo has absolutely no excuse for not having it.
Did they get the lighting and without lag?
@@tjlnintendoUnfortunately, no they didn’t
Ro and ZPL, credit their names…
@@LandonEmmaCredits aren't a thing anymore Lmao.

I think my favorite aspect of this wave might just be how both open-ended and closed-cut Wave 6 seems to be. We have basically all the likely tracks laid out in front of us, but with surprises like Moonview Highway, it could really be any track’s game. Despite that, I do think it isn’t impossible to predict the final wave, due to all the evidence we’ve compiled over the datamines. In fact, it might actually be quite simplistic.
-Acorn Cup-
Track 1: Madrid ??? - While a big toss-up between this and the Spiny Cup, I believe that this track will be the former of Wave 6’s Tour Cities. We don’t know much about this track other than it’s filename being MOB_MD, which may not even represent Madrid. However, the thing pushing this track to the Acorn Cup, in my eyes, is the presentation of Rome Avanti. Rome is an extremely climactic track possessing loads of enemies, such of which are yet to be included in MK8. The track starts off with racers going through the freaking coliseum! I think that it’s safe to assume that Madrid would have a difficult time topping it as the final spot.
Track 2: SNES Bowser’s Castle 3 - It’s a Booster Course Pass tradition for the easiest and most simplistic tracks to be placed as the second track in a wave, and the prefix leak does confirm the existence of one more SNES track. Despite the ads in Coconut Mall, Bowser Castle 3’s overhaul in Tour leads me to strongly believe it’s inclusion in the Booster Course Pass. This track is also quite possibly the most popular SNES track, meaning it’d have the strongest chance of exciting the fanbase for a typically dull game selection. Furthermore, every SNES track in MK8 has happened to be the 3rd iteration of its theme, a pattern that while potentially meaningless could also be-indeed-a pattern. The anti-gravity warp wall and update graphics make this track a serious contender for the BCP, and in my opinion, the surefire selection.
Track 3: DK Mountain - I’ve noticed that, throughout the BCP, Nintendo has consistently followed the trend of releasing a heavy-hitter fan favorite before a Tour Nitro finisher. Think Sky Garden, Mushroom Gorge, DK Summit, Waluigi Stadium, Koopa Cape, and even Moonview Highway to an extent. DK Mountain is a highly speculated track for the Booster Course Pass for a variety of reasons. Firstly, this course’s Tour iteration. Unlike most Tour tracks, the DK Mountain physics are shockingly jarring and honestly quite terrible, which has led many to believe that the track was designed with a different game in mind. Furthermore, this track received one of the largest glow ups of any Tour retro revamp, with an updated color scheme and drastically enhanced visuals. To me, though, the thing pushing this track over the edge in terms of likeliness is found in Athens Dash. In Athen Dash 1’s original Tour debut, players were able to take a cannon up to a tall hill. However, this feature was mysteriously removed in MK8, despite fitting the track perfectly. I suspect that this change was to reduce redundancy for DK Mountain, making it stand out more when tracks like DK Summit already bare parallels.
Track 4: Piranha Plant Cove - While initially a strange concept to place a not-so climactic track in the final spot, I think the placement of this track as the Acorn Cup finale makes lots of sense. Piranha Plant Cove possesses some calm before the storm energy, fitting for the precursor to the final cup. However, the thing really supporting this placement is history. From Wave 4 onward, we’ve seen one lap-changing track in every wave as the fourth course of a wave. I think that this, along with another detail that I’ll explain for Pipeline, signifies PPC’s likelihood as the Acorn Cup finale.
-SPINY CUP-
Track 5: Rome Avanti - Rounding off the city catalogue is Rome Avanti! If I had to describe this track in one word, I’d simply call it kingly. This tour nitro takes place at night, having racers travel through the coliseum and through Rocky wrench-infested streets. Chain chomps can be found in the final lap as daring players travel through narrow alleyways. This track has an insanely climactic feel with a plethora of unique obstacles. In my opinion, it’s the surefire fit for Wave 6 and a beautiful send-off to some fantastic tracks.
Track 6: Dino Dino Jungle - WHAT! Two GCN jungle tracks?? Well, hear me out. Honestly, the inclusion of this track was very difficult, especially with its similarities to fellow Double Dash course DK Mountain-possessing the same music and general atmosphere. However, I think this track does have one vastly underrated element going for it. Squeaky Clean Sprint. Squeaky Clean Sprint’s debut in Mario Kart 8 was genuinely shocking, as the track is incredibly diverse with an insane amount of assets and an unparalleled level of detail in any BCP course. These attributes lead me to believe that this course was specifically designed for 8, with Tour being secondary. In this course, among many other ads referencing in-game courses, there can be an ad found for ‘Dino Dino Camping’, a fun nod to Dino Dino Jungle. However, I suggest that this advertisement is far more telling than that of Coconut Mall. Something else this track includes is a named reference to Sunshine Airport, however, Sunshine Airport is not included in Mario Kart Tour, nor is it datamined. This specific detail leads me to believe that this course-and the Dino Dino Camping-were designed specifically for 8, which would subsequently confirm the track’s presence in the Booster Course Pass! Now, let’s look at Wave 5. Daisy Cruiser, the summer-themed GCN course, was originally intended for Wave 4. Now, what humid jungle themed track would fit perfectly in this wave, being included alongside the nitro that references it? Since both traffic courses are unlikely, Wario Colosseum clashing with three tracks already, and the likelihood of no more circuits, I think this course and it’s DK counterpart are the only options.
Track 7: Piranha Plant Pipeline - MOB_DK, how I love thee! While this track’s inclusion to the Booster Course Pass is fairly straightforward, it’s placement has been specifically chosen in regard to Wave 3. In Wave 3, we saw the inclusion of a “8DX Nitro” right before a Rainbow Road. With Wii Rainbow Road very likely on the horizon, why not double down on this trend with the latest Tour Nitro? I believe this track cannot be the Acorn Cup finisher, due to its standard atmosphere. Despite that, the track is still quite interesting and fitting for the third track in a cup, especially with how similar it is to Koopa Cape, which just so happens to be the third track of the Double Cherry Cup. The unique Fuzzy obstacle also nets this track being a fairly distinct one, affirming its third track placement.
Track 8: Wii Rainbow Road - Yeahhh, who would’ve guessed. With Moonview Highway being confirmed to have replaced/been the Acorn Cup Track 3 Nitro, the final Wii course of the prefix leak remains intact. I don’t think it’s any secret what course it’ll be. The final track of a row of cups in 8 has always been a Rainbow Road, excluding the haphazardly added original 8 DLC. The most difficult and beloved course in all of Mario Kart seems to be quite an incredible send-off to the Booster Course Pass.
Those are my predictions! Maybe I’m right, maybe I’m wrong, who knows.
ok.
Actually these are pretty much my predictions at the moment too! I think the second GCN track is a toss-up between Mushroom City and DK Mountain at this point, and if it IS DK Mountain, I think it makes a bit more sense to swap it and Piranha Plant Cove. I'd personally prefer Mushroom City since it's never been remade (and in my opinion, is slightly better) but I'd be happy with either!
@@ZombieManF Mushroom City would be a pretty cool track to add, even if it might be similar to Moonview with the speed and bomb cars!
My predictions:
Acorn Cup
• Rome Avanti
• Mushroom Bridge
• Bowser Castle 3
• Piranha Plant Cove
Spiny Cup
• 'Mobmd'
• Dino Dino Jungle
• Piranha Plant Pipeline
• Wii Rainbow Road
Characters: Diddy Kong, Pauline
I did not include Dino Dino Jungle because of the advertisements. They mean nothing.
@@ZombieManF There aren't any more ID gaps for GCN courses in Mario Kart Tour.
Daisy Cruiser has those water parts because it was a retro track in MK7, which was the first game to have underwater driving
Vancouver was one of my most anticipated city tracks not being a Tour player, but I did honestly love and feel like Los Angeles and Athens were wayyy more memorable
Finally, someone else mentioning the lap progression in Vancouver Velocity! It’s still a great course in my opinion, but I would’ve liked it much more if the order of laps was reversed
Great ranking! Love the respect for Athens and Squeaky Clean Sprint
A few things:
1. As a Southern California resident, I think the daytime setting of LA Laps fits so much better than the sunset.
2. The Moonview Highways City music is one of if not the best song in the whole game! I was completely blown away by it.
For those who don’t know, there are actually 3 different paths you can find by going off the glider
Fun fact: Athens Dash WAS supposed to be in the Spiny Cup! In the files, it is labeled as Cnsw_65, as in the 1st course of the Spiny Cup
Yeah I’m pretty sure Rome Avanti was supposed to be for Wave 5 and Vancouver Velocity was also supposed to be in the Acorn Cup.
@@playerlgamer0592 it's literally in the files
Like your ranking list Albert Boris here is mine with some places slightly different
1.squeaky clean sprint in my opinion the best nitro so far even slightly surpasses yoshi island and one of the best tracks in Mk8
2.Athens dash
3.daisy cruiser
4.Koopa cape
5.Los Angeles laps
6.Vancouver velocity
7.sunset wilds
8.moonview highway
Overall the wave was amazing😊
There would have been better tracks to pick than Sunset Wilds like GBA Bowser’s Castle, Yoshi Desert or even Shy Guy Beach, they would fit in 8 Deluxe much better imo.
Cheep Cheep Island
Broken Pier
Seeing how much shy guy beach was hated in mkwii I don’t think it would have been appreciated in the booster course pass.
Yoshi Desert is fair but Shy Guy Beach??? Nah be serious lol.
SHY GUY BEACH??? i would rather only have 7 tracks in the wave
7:48 To be honest i actually like how its underwater cause its a cruiseship, it would feel very empty if the whole track besides a single pool was just.. plain. The water spruces it up
-that transition when you jump with the dash ramps is way too hard for me-
@Walooigi there's even 3 goombas chilling the pool like Singapore Speedway!
This is my ranking:
1. Squeaky Clean Sprint - by far the most innovative and fun of the courses. The music is great too. It feels more like what we have come to expect of a modern Mario Kart course
2. Vancouver Velocity - the nighttime aesthetic blends really well with the winter theme. It does a really good job embodying Vancouver and winter in general. The music is also stellar. The first lap is one of the best.
3. Koopa Cape - A solid course all around. Good layout and music and fun to race on. There are a few changes I don’t like as much like changing the underwater section, but still a good course
4. LA Laps - I liked the theme in the original better. What I like the most about it is how much it included the cities’ landmarks in the layout, like flying over Dodgers’ Stadium
5. Daisy Cruiser - A relaxing track. While it does feel short, it really embodies the relaxation of being on a cruise ship in a tropical place.
6. Athens Dash - The music is probably my least favorite of the wave. The course is very unique for a Tour course but it doesn’t peak my attention as much as some of the other city courses
7. Moonview Highway - While the music is great, I feel kind of tired of city courses that aren’t as unique
8. Sunset Wilds - i think you know why
Great to see this Albert. Hope you enjoyed your holiday.
Athens Dash was a track I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I now do, but it was a real bombastic opener to this wave. Pretty much every track in this wave just has a lot of energy and it made for an incredibly fun lineup.
I will say, despite Sunset Wilds being very fun I do think it should’ve been a different track if they couldn’t do the sunset, since 8 doesn’t support dynamic lighting mid-race from what I know, and GBA Yoshi Desert, or heck even 3DS Shy Guy Bazaar would’ve been able to fill that slot.
Overall though every wave feels better than the last, can’t wait for what Wave 6 will have in store even if it means the end of all the speculation for the BCP.
I wouldn’t have expected my least anticipated courses to become not only my favorite tracks in the wave, but also potentially among my favorite tracks in the entire game, Athens Dash and Squeaky Clean Sprint clearly are impressive.
I also love the little hidden cave at the end of Athens Dash, making players miss out on a boost panel in exchange of a last resort item box to try and maybe gain a few spots right before the end of the race. I thought this cave would have only been a cosmetic addition to the wall that would have only counted me out of bound, but it instead rewarded my curiosity, that alone made me appreciate the track so much more after the mixed impression I first had of it ahah.
Truly an amazing wave, and the 3 new characters have really been amazing choices, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s roster flaws are finally being ironed out.
A pretty great list! Personally mine is
1. Daisy Cruiser- Its weird cause while not fond of the pool growing still my favorite of the wave.
2. Squeaky Clean Sprint- Of the nitros this track was pretty awesome and can't really find any complaints with it though a bit weaker than Yoshi's Island.
3. Vancouver Velocity- Another great track that the only thing i don't like is the ice rink is kinda weirdly made otherwise one of the better cities!
4. Koopa Cape- While i typically find it a bit overrated in the other games it was a great remake even if it removed some stuff.
5. Athens Dash- Its weird its also great but I can't remember a ton about it overall.
6. LA Laps- Not a bad course but the music change feels a bit off. Honestly still at least a B tier track so a massive jump up.
7. Moonview Highway- personally this is one of my least favorite courses in the series so it makes sense i don't care for it now.
8. Sunset Wilds- Should've been Yoshi Desert since they couldn't actually make it have the aesthetic.
I disagree.
music change?
This is my personal ranking:
1. Squeaky Clean Sprint
2. Los Angeles Laps
3 Athens Dash
4. Koopa Cape
5. Vancouver Velocity
6. Moonview Highway
7. Daisy Cruiser
8. Sunset Wilds
Greetings from Poland 😊
Great video! Vancouver defo takes the cake for me
Great ranking and thoughts as always!
Yep, except for Sunset Wilds (I suspect the lack of the sun setting is because of the lighting engine in 8 Deluxe while the layout changes are undoubtedly deliberate) Wave 5 is a consistently great wave while also having some really high highlights, making it in my opinion at least among the best if not arguably the best one so far!
7:49 The answer is simple: Mario Kart 7 introduced these changes because of its new driving underwater mechanic and so this version also kept them as it still has it. Personally don't mind them, plus I appreciate the Goombas on lifesavers who are not only for aesthetic, but also affect gameplay since you can bounce off them (also the characters sitting at the tables in the dining room although that's exclusively for aesthetic)!
Really happy kamek is in. Really hope Diddy Kong makes it in
Personally, Wiggler has become my new main, but all three characters introduced this Wave were amazing for sure!
@@AlbertBorisyeah wiggler used to be my main in MK7, my personal favourite mariokart game besides 8 deluxe
@@AlbertBoris Imagine if the last two characters were Funky Kong and R.O.B.
@@Wubtastic5585well well
#1 Los Angeles Laps (Confession time, I like section based tracks… ALOT… applying this to a city based level was one of the best things Nintendo could have done, it makes the track feel massive, I like how you can see the different streets you drive in and out of constantly, the scenery is really cool and I like how different environments are connected via a single street, it’s cool knowing that one road can take you anywhere… AND DONT GET MY STARTED ON THE MUSIC, IT SCREAMS LOS ANGELES and retains its goofy elements with the electronic flute, I do miss the vocals but it’s another way of executing an interesting and really catchy song. I never thought I’d have a new favourite track of all time by the time I played wave 5, but LA just… it hits the spot for me.)
#2 Athens Dash (THIS… IS HOW YOU OPEN A WAVE… music is really good, the route is interesting and it is visually amazing…)
#3 Moonview Highway (Traffic Levels are really cool. This one is no different, it has the visuals of New York Minute, the traffic of mushroom city and the cliff of Shroom ridge, also the music slaps)
#4 Koopa Cape (It’s a fun challenge, the river music coming back is this tracks highlight, along with anti gravity in the tunnels)
#5 Squeaky Clean Sprint (I really like the track, HOWEVER, I don’t like how we knew about it for 2 weeks before the trailer dropped and a week before we got to play it, it ruined the hype for me)
#6 Daisy Cruiser (it’s cool but compared to the other tracks it doesn’t really interest me much)
#7 Vancouver Velocity (the music is alright, but the track gets progressively worse, Lap 1 is the only cool one to me)
#8 Sunset Wilds (do i need to explain)
8. Sunset Wilds
7. Koopa Cape
6. Los Angeles Laps
5. Moonview Highway
4. Daisy Cruiser
3. Athens Dash
2. Vancouver Velocity
1. Squeaky Clean Sprint
i was very suprised to see you put moonview highway so low, by far my favourite track to come from this wave, with koopa cape being second to last due to getting rid of the electric spinners, the running water in the pipe, and the roof of the pipe, oh not the mention the BIG KOOPA TROOPA SIGN
Whereas with moonview highway, they absolutely KILLED it with the music, outer city sounds like an intense chase scene, whilst the inner city sounds like hardboiled/noir setting, still with that intense chase scene feel. Another key detail I adore is that they randomised the booster pads in the city, making it just that much more interesting. I also feel the nerf of the cars was a good thing because getting squashed by them every 2 seconds on wii was definitely what ruined the course for me
Its funny because on wii, koopa cape would be an easy top 5 for me, whereas on 8 its mid at best. As for moonview however, on wii it would be ranked around the middle, and in 8 its one of my absolute favourites
Great ranking albert
What date u think Wave 6 will come out? I think November.
Hey Albert, what’s the Course ID for Green Pipe City? I really wanna play it.
Once Wave 6 is released, it would be interesting to see you rank all 48 of the courses in the BCP as well as all 96 total.
Quite a few Nintendo TH-camrs are planning to do a huge collab on that lol
@@osberswgaming Should be exciting. Thanks.
Nice list
Also this is the Best wave so far
I would say my ranking but all of the tracks in this wave except sunset wilds are either great or amazing
My ranking:
8: GBA Sunset Wilds, it's not bad but they removed the sunset machanic, and also the layout is very simple
7: GCN Daisy Cruiser, I was never a big fan of this track, but the idea is creative
6: Wii Koopa Cape, this track is amazing, but sadly, is not at the level of the remaining wave 5 tracks
5: Tour Los Angeles Laps, I miss the bahs, and, the oil field is so confusing in mirror mode
4: Tour Vancouver Velocity, this track is so unique, but the route...
3: Squeaky Clean Sprint, feels like a better version of Ribbon Road
2: Wii Moonview Highway, got nerfed, but the music is so sublime...
1: Tour Athens Dash, the Tour version was already so epic, so the 8 deluxe version is perfect for me. I think that from now on this is my new favorite track
For daisy cruiser, I love that they finally added people to the tables
As a Canadian, hockey arenas are a HUGE part of our culture so I am glad they put it, for me it screamed Canada.
Yeah can't say I blame you about Vancouver. Its route was actually kinda close to what I personally predicted, except that instead of the final lap being just the third route it would've been combined with the first route in reverse. So when they didn't do that I was...relatively underwhelmed. I do still rank it very high personally though(like 3rd place, behind SCS and Athens), simply for retaining its original atmosphere and the amazing music, and for what its worth laps 1 and 2 are still great and fun.
11:35 Lmao I was thinking about da movie in that moment lmao.
I prefer wave 4 to wave 5 but this wave was awesome, daisy cruiser and koopa cape are my favourites
8. Sunset Wilds
7. Vancouver Velocity
6. LA Laps
5. Moonview Highway
4. Squeaky Clean Sprint
3. Daisy Cruiser
2. Koopa Cape
1. Athens Dash
This is my ranking - I dont dislike SCS but I always fail at the last turn so skill issue on my part I guess.
Also if you go down to the right of the sink there are 2 more paths.
*"GET OFF THE TOILET"*
Logically, the huge geyser in Squeaky Clean Sprint is from a bidet. European toilet confirmed??
some of these changes you bring up were in effect in previous games so weren't really changes made in this version, for example you could go in the water on daisy cruiser in mk7 as well
Moonview Highway’s traffic was non existent in this remake. 😢
You forgot the fact that Squeaky Clean Sprint is almost visually on par with the base game, if not already on the same level of higher
FINALLY ALBERT BORIS AGREES WITH ME THAT VANCOUVER IS UNDERRATED!
Best Mario Kart channel with shintos.
I’m not mad at daisy cruiser adding alternate routes, it’s a good change like gcn sherbet land, and it’s based on the mk7 version anyway.
9:26 best part of the video (top left)
Funnily enough, I was on vacation when Wave 5 released.
Sunset Wilds is such a damn shame. Other than that wave 5 is kingly and my favourite wave. Man I love Athens Adventure. It's my favourite city since it released in tour and the other courses are absolutely spectacular too, moonview being especially surprising.
as for daisy cruiser; the 'cellar' isn't "flooded for some reason". they changed it to an aquarium, so it makes sense to be an underwater section.
Vancouver is still my fave city of the wave, but I agree with your point that Lap 3 is anticlimactic. They could have done VV 3 into 1R from tour. After leaving the stadium you go back to the suspension bridge in reverse.
That new Moonview highway remix is just 😮💨👌
Me seeing that Athens Dash is higher
Good Albert lives another day
Good ranking btw I agree with a lot of these
That “added cliff” in moonview was always there, it was just less obvious :)
So for Daisy Cruiser all the changes you mentioned were first put into 7s remake of the course
Sunset Wilds is an A tier for me. Despite the missing sunset, I still love the tight turns of the layout, the aesthetic, and music. It's a fun time :)
ahhh, my favorite track, *Los Angeles **_Aps_*
also, if lap 2 was lap 3 (in LA laps), you would have to take the second route in reverse. They didnt really have an option here
Weird how in Super Circuit, Sunset Wilds is way more popular than Yoshi Desert, while in Tour, thanks to the layout changes, it’s kinda the other way around there
15:03 Athens was leaked to have originally been intended for the Spiny Cup
didn't all of the major leaks come out way before Athens Dash was even officially announced as a Tour course? which leak did you get this from?
@@oriusin the files Athens is referred to with the number 65. Six being wave 6 and 5 being the fifth track of the wave.
@@Clayton27. oh, nice! i didn't know we could see those still. ty for letting me know!
When Sunset wilds was my favorite until wave 5… also as someone who went to college for game design, there are ways around the lighting problem (though not the best way to fix it)
Finally, a wave where every city track in it is about equal in terms of popularity
What i think they shouldve done with koopa cape is put the zappers right ahead of the spin boosters so you could try to hit them and risk being shocked, or get back up to speed quickly of you are shocked.
In the winter nintendo direct, we will surely present moddk, due to the characters (Pauline, Diddy Kong and Funky Kong); taking into account that the spiny shell cup It will be a rainbow road as last track, It will be the last acorn cup track
That's not possible. Firstly, Donkey Kong is always abbreviated as 'd' in asset names for Mario Kart Tour. Next, the course using 'Mobdk' assets is already released and it's called Piranha Plant Pipeline, with the full codename being 'Mob_Dokan'. Finally, there aren't any unknown new non-city courses left at all because Moonview Highway is 'cnsw_63'.
Kind of makes sense that sunset wilds sun never sets. Sunset wilds was originally set as the FINAL track of the lightning cup and the sunset gimmick was supposed to be more of an ending feature rather then mid-cup. Still a bummer though because it was pretty cool.
No, the sun doesn’t set because it’s impossible to change the lightning in 8DX’s engine
When osbers gaming doesn’t get a shoutout in an Albert Boris video is when Wii rainbow road is replaced by Wii Luigi circuit in the booster course pass
Los Angeles Laps was my favourite city track of wave 5
Yeah, the Tour models aren’t even all that bad, they really just need actual textures, and they actually made an attempt to add them lately
I really like Wave 5! At first I thought it would be the best wave so far, but after a bit of ruminating I think Wave 4 slightly takes that title. But overall (with the exception of one), I think the courses were pretty good! There are no actually bad courses in this wave (D and F tiers), though unfortunately there is a weak link down in C Tier:
C Tier (The Mid)
8) Wii Moonview Highway - I never liked the original Moonview Highway. If it was a one to one recreation of the original, I would have put this track in D Tier, since I don't like its layout much at all. However, the new version of this track is slightly better than its original because a) it's the best looking of the wave (& maybe the whole BCP), and b) I actually think that fewer cars makes the track more fun to drive on. Still not good though sorry.
B Tier (The Good)
7) GBA Sunset Wilds - I wasn’t nearly as disappointed in this track as it seems a lot of people were, mostly because I don’t think the lack of the sun setting is the worst change Nintendo has ever done to this track. I will admit I audibly shouted "NO" when I made it to the final lap, but then I just kinda moved on; and that's coming from someone who thinks this track is the *pinnacle* of GBA tracks. It's not even the worst part of 8 Deluxe's version of the track, that would be the shitty desert driving physics, nor is it the worst change ever made to this track, THAT would be the simplified layout. Even if it fell off from its GBA and Tour versions, I still think it manages to remain in B Tier, though it's towards the bottom of that tier in regards to all BCP tracks.
6) Tour Los Angeles Laps - I already liked this track well enough in Tour, but I think it’s even more fun in 8 Deluxe! Completely disagree about the oil field; I think it’s perfect for the final lap and is what I wanted to be the final lap going into this wave. I actually think the daytime is much nicer than the sunset as well, though that’s probably just because I think the original skybox was kinda ugly for a sunset.
5) Wii Koopa Cape - Not nearly as much of a disappointment as I thought it would be, I’m impressed! The pipe section is more fun in 8 Deluxe than it was in Tour, though I think that section’s music variant was weaker than the other two. Definitely the best remake of this track so far, but still far inferior to the S Tier original.
A Tier (The Great)
4) GCN Daisy Cruiser - Knew it would be great from the start, it lived up to my expectations perfectly, and the updated graphics look great! The music is also very nice, especially those violins, though I think Deloof Teg Orb’s remake is the best version of the song.
3) Tour Athens Dash - I almost wanted to put this one in S Tier, though I just barely kept it shy because I think the second lap was a bit weaker than the other two. Still, an absolute banger of a course that deserves its spot as the second best city track!
S Tier (The Best)
2) Tour Squeaky Clean Sprint - My expectations were high but holy hell, I didn’t expect this track to be this good! I expected a solid A Tier track, but I got a track that’s very close in greatness to (if not *better* than) Ninja Hideaway! Oddly enough, the layout reminds me most of Toad’s Factory, and it’s very similar in quality too! The music also fits the track more than the trailer made it sound, though I still think a Koopa Cape-esque song might have fit it better; either way it’s an all timer!
1) Tour Vancouver Velocity - It’s the best course of the wave, I knew it would be the best course of the wave going in, and it looks and plays amazingly! I will say that the music is slightly weaker than the Tour version, and ending with Vancouver Velocity 3 is a weird choice since that's the weakest one, but overall it's still one of the top 10 best courses in the entire series.
Squeaky Clean Sprint isn’t a Tour track.
@@quangamershyguyyz7166 It 100% is.
1: Vancover Velocity. Remix is fire and I love that it kept it's night live city feel. It feels right
2: Squeaky Clean Sprint. Never thought a bathroom would be fun to drive in. The drain is so realistic and I love it's design. The sink dripping is a nice touch.
3: Athens Dash. It feels different from most tour courses and I kinda like it. Pathing is quite nice and use of halfpipes/glide ramps is fair
4: Moonview Highway. Remix is FIRE and the visuals are amazing. Though I do wish either the cars went faster or there were more of them.
5: Koopa Cape. I've never liked the flooded pipe design from MK7. At least this has a halfpipe on it. Plus where are all the Koopa stickers? And why are the rocks brown? The colors make me wanna barf but it's still a good course.
6: Daisy Cruiser: When I look at BCP tracks, I want some change that keeps it meta while still staying nostalgic. They took the MK7 design and just re polished it changing nothing. Though there isn't much to work with given the size of the course. Mushroom Bridge would have been better.
7: LA Laps: I could care less about the shift in the day cycle. What really annoys me is the remix. Just like Berlin Byways, it kinda sucks. The original of both this and Berlin Byways is way better musically. Where is the bass? Why does it feel thin? AND WHY WOULD YOU REPLACE VOCALS WITH A SAXOPHONE OF ALL THINGS??? Give me my vocals and bass back please.
8: Sunset Wilds. Common take but where is the sunset change in the laps? Why did they keep it mostly flat? Cheese land was given a 3Dness as well as Riverside Park with it's cave. It's part of the OG track but I don't like rainbow borders and it needs more change in elevation otherwise it just feels like a reprint which isn't horrible but it's also not what I'm looking for. Music is otherwise good.
These are just my opinions. Feel free to comment what you think or disagree with me on. Also like this comment if you think they should stop basing remakes off of MK7 designs XD.
Kinda..on the mk7
All the levels are literally just refurbished ports from tour..which is kinda sad in a way personally but makes sense due to "booster" being tour's working name so they named the dlc after it
Which is why sunset wilds the way it is layout wise and how we got the downgraded koopa cape
They could have used the antigravity feature in the pipe section from Koopa Cape, allowing you to drive on the ceiling and on the sides ;-;
But they never did this in any track of this game, for some reason.
@@domgoncalvescezaretti5258 because the Booster Course Pass is all based on the Tour layouts, and Tour has no antigravity, there’s basically no way for the antigravity to ever get as drastic as the base game
@@jomaq9233 If only there was tho
@@jomaq9233 I am talking about the base game too. I think that it would be very cool and creative if we had something like this. It would use the feature of antigravity to its furthest potential.
It's so sad that Nintendo ruined Sunset Wilds while making the dlc. It's like a reverse of what they did in Choco Mountain on N64.
My Wave 5 Ranking:
8. GBA Sunset Wilds
7. Tour L.A. Laps
6. Wii Koopa Cape
5. Tour Athens Dash
4. GCN Daisy Cruiser
3. Tour Vancouver Velocity
2. Squeaky Clean Sprint
1. Wii Moonview Highway
9:19 finally someone else who thought that was slow
everyone else said it was "perfect" but it felt little too jazzy and slow in my opinion
I don't agree that Koopa Cape is good enough though - removing the lightning is like removing Coconut Mall's Cars' movement, making the fun skillful obstacle gone. So it's a downgrade for me
I’d actually agree with almost all of your list
9:14 that cliff was always there. Even in the Wii version.
My personal rankings and why they are placed where they are:
8. Sunset Wilds (y’all know why 🤦♂️)
7. Moonview Highway (visuals are good, but the music is slightly worse imo and the difficulty has been drained the life out of😔)
6. Daisy Cruiser (music is better than og, but a lil simple for wave 5)
5. Los Angeles Laps (Still a good layout and gameplay, but no sunset and the vocals are gone)
4. Vancouver Velocity (STUNNING LOOKS, fun music and the goated suspension bridge, but gets a lil bland at the end besides the ice staking rink)
3. Athens Dash (BEST city course by far but i do miss the thwomps😢)
2. Squeaky Clean Sprint (BEST MUSIC IN THE DLC BY FAR but I do agree that the drain is too narrow, and especially a lil much on 200cc. But its easily made up by many different routes and of course the funny bathroom theme😂)
1. Koopa Cape (Still a very badass track with energetic music, also my favorite retro in the DLC with a passionate theme, much better than 7 and Tour. But no more electric bars still😔)
How in the world could you say Moonview Highway’s music is worse?
The Daisy Cruiser underwater changes are from Mario Kart 7
I liked all of them.
The problem with sunset wilds is not the track is almost flat but i u think it makes sense because most deserts are flat, the problem is somehow they didn’t put the god damn sunset gimick, they even put it at tour
Remember, Sunset Wilds was already choosen by Nintendo a long time ago (Remember the Music leak)
It isn't Sunset Wilds if the sun doesn't set.... It is just Wilds
It’s just Sun wilds now lmao
Thoughts on wave 5:
Sunset Wilds: bad track, no gimmick ruin it and make me talk cave person.
Vancouver Velocity: I have to agree with Vancouver Velocity being overrated, but for me, only the 8DX version. The tour version is great, and if the laps were in the opposite order, I wouldn't mind it.
Daisy Cruiser: the changes to the track (besides the innertube goombas and the background characters in the seats in the dining room) first appeared in 7, so I didn't mind them despite not playing 7, but the length of the track was shorter than I expected.
Moonview Highway: the perfect fusion of every traffic track in the series this far, it's still awesome. Also, I don't mind the city remix's volume.
Los Angeles Laps: I loved it, and the changes worked with the track.
Koopa Cape: they removed the challenge with that one ramp early on, and THEY FIXED THE 7/TOUR UNDERWATER SECTION!
Athens Dash: I didn't like it as much as LA Laps, but that doesn't mean I don't like it. Also, I said it before and I'll say it again: HOW DID YOU PREDICT THE PREFIX LEAK PLACEMENT OF THIS TRACK!
Squeaky Clean Sprint: as the last tour track to be in 8DX beforehand, it is perfect. This, alongside Yoshi's Island, are my favourite tour non-cities.
Does anyone have any possible explanations for why the GBA, and only the GBA tracks get so drastically simplified in layout in Tour? You’d think they’d be the ones the developers would want to make more complex, considering that their already relative simplicity was all due to hardware limitations that aren’t a thing anymore on current hardware
Plus, I’m pretty sure the overall engine of modern Mario Kart games would already make going through more complex GBA track layouts way easier than in Super Circuit (I guess there is the possible jank of Tour touchscreen controls, but that game literally forces smart steering and auto acceleration as a way to mitigate that)
gg
I agree almost completely only id put la laps and athens dash both at the top (athens dash being the absolute best).
1. Athens Dash
2. Vancouver Velocity
3. Daisy Cruiser
4. Koopa Cape
5. Moonview Highway
6. LA Laps
7. Squeaky Clean Sprint
8. Sunset Wilds
It is abselytli kingly that your favoret track is my favoret track again.
8th: Sunset Wilds
7th: Daisy Cruiser
6th: Squeaky Clean Sprint
5th: Los Angeles Laps
4th: Moonview Highway
3rd: Vancouver Velocity
2nd: Koopa Cape
1st: Athens Dash
That Chris Pratt joke was great lol
I love l.a laps it is so over looks but it is so GOOD YES!
So here's my personal ranking
1) Tour Vancouver Velocity
I'm Canadian so im gonna be biased 😂
2) GCN Daisy Cruiser
As a huge Daisy fan, this track is just super fun for me to travel through
3) Wii Koopa Cape
I love Mario Kart Wii, this remake tho with the anti-grav was amazing tbh, better than the MK7 one.
4) GBA Sunset Wilds
I still love this course, altough the removal of the nighttime gimmick was for sure disappointing (please fix it in Wave 6 Nintendo please ily ty ty xoxo 😍)
5) Tour Los-Angeles Laps
I think it was fun to explore, tho the construction site section (or oil field idk lmao) was a tad bit weird to me. Idk if that city does a lot of renovations since I rarely been to US but anyways.
6) Squeaky Clean Sprint
Ribbon Road sequel?
7) Tour Athens Dash
Very fun track, I just liked the other ones better.
8) Wii Moonview Highway
I liked it more than the Mario Kart Wii version for sure, the lighting is better and driving through it feels more natural I feel like.
Okay, with Wave 5 out now finally, here are my thoughts:
Wave 5:
Tour Athens Dash: It's an amazing rustic course. I really like the music too. If there's one thing I hate, it's the pillars at the end of the second and third laps. Still, a fun course. 9/10.
GCN Daisy Cruiser: It's a lovely track, like the original and 3DS remake. Now there's Goombas in floatation tubes in the pool. I kind of wished there was an anti-gravity part in the dining hall to emphasize the moving ship, but the course is still fun to play. 9.5/10
Wii Moonview Highway: Let's get this out of the way- I hated the original track because of how chaotic it was. It was one of my most hated tracks in Wii, and now it has 200CC to deal with. What do I think about it now? ... I kind of like it more than the original? Even on 200CC, I had more fun, and I feel like it wasn't chaotic as the Wii's version. The only thing that it got was a gliding section, and that kind of stung, when Toad's Turnpike has anti-gravity. Also, compared to the other traffic courses, including the Tour tracks, I never found this track better than most of them. Still, it has slapping music and a great look. 8.5/10
Squeaky Clean Sprint: It's like the current Ribbon Road, now in a bathroom. That mechanical Cheep Cheep is weirdly out of place. Everything from the music to the aesthetic is great; but the only complaint I have at the end is the last part of the track. Still fun. 9/10.
Tour Los Angeles Laps: It's great, even though I don't like the anti-gravity thing in the beginning (it feels tacked on), and the third lap is definitely plainer and duller compared to the other more colorful first two laps. Great music, still, and it's three sections. 9/10.
GBA Sunset Wilds: *sighs* I love the original track. It's one of the top 5 of that game because of its obstacles, music, setting, and gimmick. With every three laps, it goes from sunset to night. It was a visually fun course. When the remake from Tour was announced, I was floored. I wanted this track to come back for so long.
I won't beat around the bush any longer: WHERE'S THE SUNSET TO NIGHT TRANSITION?! THEY DID IT IN TOUR, BUT NOT HERE?! THOSE ^%$^#$ING COWARDS! 8/10. Bittersweet.
Wii Koopa Cape: Like the 3DS version, but now the tunnel has anti-gravity. Maybe the only track that I don't care that didn't get updated much. 10/10.
Tour Vancouver Velocity: Feels like the night time and winter version of Amsterdam Drift with the ice skating portion of GCN Sherbet Land. The narrow bridge in the first lap and the ice skating arena is all I can remember from the track. Its music is good, but not the best of the Tour tracks. There's nothing really wrong with the course besides that. 9/10.
Overall: 72/80. It could've been better than Wave 3. More disappointing more than anything.
where does Moonview Highway have a Glider?
My personal ranking so far (subject to change)
1) Athens Dash
2) Squeaky Clean Sprint
3) Koopa Cape
4) LA Laps
5) Daisy Cruiser
6) Moonview Highway
7) Vancouver Velocity
8) Sunset Wilds
1. Vancouver Velocity
2. Daisy Cruiser
3. Los Angeles Laps
4. Squeaky Clean Sprint
5. Athens Dash
6. Moonview Highway
7. Koopa Cape
8. Sunset Milds
Here's my rankings:
1 Vancouver Velocity (Best of the wave 5, Albert did made a big mistake putting at number 7 which I largely disagree)
2 Athens Dash (Love the fact that you're racing on Athens' ancient ruins and the soundtrack really slaps)
3 Daisy Cruiser (Second favorite Double Dash track, glad that it got added over Mushroom Bridge)
4 Squeaking Clean Sprint (Fun and unique track which personally I'll get mid feelings with this track if you are playing online)
5 Los Angeles Laps (First Tour city track that is divided on three sections)
6 Koopa Cape (Not a MKWii fan but this track looks a little bit smaller than the original)
7 Moonview Highway (Nintendo nerfed it hard from the original but still I hate getting hit by these CAERS every time I drift in the road)
8 Sunset Wilds (BRING BACK THE SUNSET THROUGH NIGHTTIME NINTENDO!)
This looks like a video from 2008
Bertal Auras deserves all of my respect.
cool
This man has some OPINIONS
And, no, I'm not calling "sunset wilds", the Sun ain't even setting, what if it's a sunrise? I'm calling sunrise calm.
Vancouver Velocity is peak
XD. Nice reference. 11:23
Agree with athens being the standout city track this wave . Vancouver was a slight letdown with many saying it was the best city track. Singapore Speedway still reigns supreme as the best city track in the game..
