    You cracked me up when you said you're old. I remember having to get up off the couch to change the channel on the TV. LOL. I always carry my cell but really just use it for Navionics. So much more to see and take in while out fishing than what you see on that small screen. Another great video.

    If you ever go back for Kokanee you should hit new Bullards bar reservoir, bunch of Kokanee, around 5-15 inches though, use stuff like wedding rings, hoochies, and a dodger, put it around 15-30 feet, that’s what I found where the fish are last time I was there. Go to the marina at bullards bar, fish around the dam and around that area where you get out of emerald cove or something. Bunch of kokanee, I think the limit is also 10 Kokanee per person a day. Good lake for Kokanee this year, or go to pardee. Kinda same thing, I was there just yesterday, water is cold, 50-60°F water and fish around the dam, I had more luck with a hoochie on a smiley blade around 20-25 feet. Might be exposing stuff but, good places for your next adventure!! Get ‘em!

    Hey brother, when you cross that bridge heading west and take the first right there is a boat launch about a half a mile down that road. Better then going off that ledge and easier on the boat and your legs. Or you can use the launch on the main part of the lake by keep going west about another half mile turn left. There are rest rooms a small store and plenty of parking. ~Fish-On~

    I know this is an older video, but if you still read these comments, great spot to launch from! I know that lake well, and there's only one other spot to even try... So, great work on location. And thanks for not spilling the beans on the exact spot. . .

  • @michellesmith7747
    @michellesmith7747 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I saw that someone already suggested a snubber, one other thing to try (if you aren't getting hits as your rig was set up in this video) is to shorten the leader behind the dodger. On slow days it can make a difference. By shortening the leader to the hoochie it will really give a lot of action. Many of mine are set at 7-10 inches. Just something to try if its a tough day.
    Thanks for the great videos.

    We should schedule a time to go out, I live 20 minutes from here and they’re just starting to make their way back out. I mostly fish this lake for there kokes. Bridge is always the hotspot.

  • @Tiggitytye
    @Tiggitytye ปีที่แล้ว

    I've fished for kokanee since 1997, really got into it. A few tips, bend your slingblade gently and give it tons more action, and shorten your leader with a hoochie. 8-10" is ideal. Early season a 1/4th of a crawler behind a dodger can be deadly also.

    Nice job! FYI most kokanee fisherman are fishing the lure 6-10 inches behind the dodger. Gives the lure much better action but You obviously did just fine with longer! Also most kokes don't pop the DR clip off. Tight lines

    Adam, if you had driven up that side bay a little further you would have gotten to Whiskey Creek launch ramp. Across the lake from the bridge is Brandy Creek Marina with a big launch ramp and up lake is Oak Bottom launch ramp. I keep my 21 foot sailboat on that lake during the season and know the lake well. Upstream near the Carr Power House one can sight fish to big trout as the lake gets shallow. In Redding on Placer is Dam Burger. Pretty good burgers that is unless you are more into In and Out that's near Costco close to the Shasta Mall. If you want a great challenging bank fishing experience in a spectacular setting try the plung pool at the base of Burney Falls In MacArther Burney Falls State Park. There is an entrance fee. Don't know what the fee is presently since I'm a retired Park Superintendent and get to enter free of charge with my retired Peace Officer ID. Best fishing is in October when the big Browns from the lake swim up to the plung pool. But fishing can be great anytime. Just cast into one of tge plumes of current coming from tge bottom of the falls. In tge fall the trout fight hard and are real footballs. Dress warmer than you think you need to based on the temperature of the parking lot. It's often 20 degrees cooler at the pool and damp from the spray. I flyfish it alot and see people come down with spinning rigs wearing shorts and a T shirt. They don't last long. To the east of Burney Falls State Park is the Fall River flowing close to Fall River Mills. Big trout in there as well. Access is tough but since you car top your kayak there are "no trailer park and launch" places up stream. Beware though no motor use allowed in some stretches of the river so you would need your paddle. Cheers and if your are going to be in Northern CA, let me know when. I have a house near Shingetown 29 mile east of Redding just off Hwy 44.

    Try a snubber behind the attractor (I like a five blade Dave Davis rig) and then your leader and lure. You lose fewer fish with the snubber. Used to have good luck with a frog pattern Needlefish lure.

    Very glad I grew up without cell phones and internet, never did get a cell phone til I was 34 and cause the wife wanted one. I remember the bag hones? There was something even before them? Remember fire chiefs having them?? Remember when internet came out and again? Was like whatever?? Until my sister said there was fishing stuff you could find on there???? Been downhill ever since

    Grocery outlet, you put five in the boat. Saw a bald eagle with a fish in its claws and you missed some TH-cam videos when you got back.

    Most of the places I fish here in Idaho and SE Oregon it doesn't matter if you bring your phone. It's not going to work. And I think kokanee might be the best tasting fish of all time and I can get them less than an hour from my house. Such a fantastic resource for those of us willing to go after them.
